- diafel, on 10/12/2007, -2/+21I liked this video better when it was submitted yesterday, had over 400 diggs and wasn't blog spam http://www.digg.com/videos/people/Crazy_Robot_Ride
- 2Deluxe, on 10/12/2007, -0/+14"Watch as the idiotic primate nearly smears his cranium on the hard concrete floor, while the rest of the tribe sits and plot their own rises as the alpha human."
- rayman901, on 10/12/2007, -0/+11naw, if you had a helmet, you'd hit the floor
- ayeroxor, on 10/12/2007, -0/+10NO BLOG SPAM:
http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-7472502197006303244&hl=en - Neticule, on 10/12/2007, -2/+11We will dupe if we want to!
- drethedog, on 10/12/2007, -2/+10Did you see how close that guy's skull got from the floor???? The Brain Smearer RIDE......
- austindkelly, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7Really? Maybe next time you could include a http://www.duggmirror.com in your obvious statement.
- bennybertow, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7"Im sure it would work just fine with the previously posted “Wiimote + Robotic Arm” and Im also sure it would be very satisfying to place somebody that you hate in that chair and control them with the Wiimote. What an idea!"
That would be cool... And have the B-button release the seat so the guy flies through the roof... - Aliarse, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Its all fun and games.
Until someone's head gets smashed open. - audhumbla, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4hmmm ragdoll physics
- Fluidity, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4That would be great, imagine swapping jail time to chair time with your victim at the controls of the wiimote.
"I sentence you to 2 hours in the chair for stealing little Billy's lollipop, and I hear he can serve over 140mph in Wii Tennis, good luck!" - EochaidRiata, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Try linking directly to google video and not some crappy blog that goes down after 100 hits. Marked as spam.
- vuzman, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3The "Power Builder" ride in LEGOLAND (well, at least in the one in Denmark) works like that. It is of course made with real safety seats and everything that's needed for safety precautions, and has to be appropriate for (bigger) kids as well. The design of the ride is programmed by yourself before the ride (hence the name).
Here's a (pretty poor) video: http://www.legoland.dk/LEGOLAND/rides/LEGOCity.htm?lc=en - rayman901, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3...I want one
- cbbspike, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Ok, who is this guy? The inventor? The programmer? If I was the one programming this thing I would be the last one to be riding it. At work sometimes my program miss behave and someone gets billed extra, but in this case my program miss behave and someone gets their head crushed... can you imagine this thing going completely crazy?
What I would do is let uncle Mike (the guy on the video was probably uncle Mike) go in first then a couple of friends, then perhaps if all of them survive I would ride it, because you know... you got to do your Quality Control, right? - ayeroxor, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3"Most Insane Ride Ever: Straping Yourself to a Robotic Arm!"
Strape me.... Strape me, my friend... - baxtermaddux, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3maybe it should be high in the air so you dont have to worry about being a vegetable when your head hits the floor
- lithuin, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Without reading the article, I can already tell you this is an old concept.
I downloaded this video off Usenet like 10 years ago of a woman who strapped herself to a robotic arm.
She did seem to enjoy the ride, though. - JAVandiver, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3...then it is just fun!
- OpticalLiam, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I just fear for the machine's next victims sat around the circle
- pokjob, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Strapping.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Video Section, check it every once and a while.
- ayeroxor, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2"And yet I still ask.... Why?"
Sorry, Lt. Cmdr. Data, but you'll never understand. - xamox, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Yeah, I've worked in the field of vision guided robotics. This one in this picture is a normal sized one. They have ones that can lift entire cars and they make the one listed in this pic look like a joke.

I believe it's Kuka robotics that make this ride/robot. - Gunsmith, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1woah that is awesome, it would be better if he was dressed as a ninja tho.
- honestlywhagwan, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1i want it.
- 3uster, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1It's been done before, actually there's one that's been in production for amusement parks as the 'next generation' roller coasters
- duxxyuk, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2That doesn't go very fast .... mwa ha haha ;-p
That said I would have yawned in technicolour after the first two moves... - grubwort, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I'm not so sure that would work. From the looks of it you'd end up a vegetable when your head hit the floor no matter how high in the air it was.
- sunchild, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Most Insane Dupe Ever! Quite Literally Straping the Video Section Traffic into your Blog!
- austindkelly, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1http://www.duggmirror.com
- thelightjockey, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Xscape at Braehead in Paisley/Glasgow (Strathclyde, UK) has a robotic arm ride, I ain't going on it but I've seen a few who dared.
- SavageGeek, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1The difference between a trailblazer and a future Darwin award winner: safety gear.
- insomniacal, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1How nice that they kept it humane -- a little more G forces could've ripped the guy's blood straight through his face.
- compgeek, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1looks pretty neat but I don't know if I would strap myself to this thing personally. looks a little unsafe, if one of the straps breaks or the ride goes just a little low Hello fractured skull!
- MikeDawg, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1This is almost as impressive as the exact same story on the frontpage, as yesterday.
- Neticule, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Why arent these at amusement parks yet. Im suing someone. grr.
- Reisr3, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0It seems to me that these guys were probably very experienced with programming and operating the robotic arm. I doubt this man was in much danger. I'd certainly hope that after going through the trouble of rigging this thing up, they'd run several dummy tests to make absolutely sure that the "ride" was safe!
- Misterm65, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1that rocked
- chakorules, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Kuka robotics had been doing this for a couple of years now. They have rides "safely" installed at Six Flags unlike this guys who doesn't even have a roll cage to protect his head.
http://www.kuka.com/en/products/systems/robocoaster/start.htm - treetop, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0This ride's in Gatlinburg Tn and no, i wouldn't ride it.
- cyzoonic, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-7472502197006303244&hl=en
- Zyk0tiK, on 10/12/2007, -4/+3Was just about to say the exact same thing.
- saxman7000, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0And yet I still ask.... Why?
- MoeB, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1A helmet would be nice.
- k0rd, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1SIte's down already
- ziki, on 10/12/2007, -5/+3Imagine using the Wiimote to get friends. You press A and then friendly people pop up out of nowhere and offer their friendship.
- TheBritishGuy1, on 10/12/2007, -9/+3this was on the front page of the video section last night guys. Don't dupe...
