http://qtv.mobitv.com/sprintTVlive.mcd - StanMort, on 03/07/2008, -0/+13Well, I found this in the Sprint forums and here we go:
qtv.mobitv.com/sprintTVlive.mcd
1. Copy and paste that link into the address bar.
2. Don't run it but save it to your computer.
3. Find it on your computer and OPEN it up. Select to open it with Internet Explorer or the browser of your choice.
4. There will be a whole bunch of links. Choose the channel you want to watch...
5. Get your LG Voyager and start up the browser.
6. Type one of the links into your Voyager and press OK!
There you go, live TV... - StanMort, on 03/07/2008, -0/+11You can't stop the HOFO
- Baldilocks77, on 03/07/2008, -0/+10I see MobiTV has a lot of losers on here trying to keep the comments down to a minimum. I think time would be better spent if they went back to college and learned how to make URL's private.
I can donate money if you need it for lessons??? - Baldilocks77, on 03/07/2008, -1/+8Now lets see them shut Digg down!!
- aigulf, on 03/07/2008, -0/+7digg people don't like shameless blog plugs
- kapil, on 03/07/2008, -0/+5Dear Josh,
I'm an avid HowardForums vistor. I noticed the little tussle between your employer and HoFo. Being a business owner myself, I completely sympathize with you and your company's dilemma...but here's the problem: The Internet Gods just aren't on your side.
Before you know it, the issue will become the meme of the day and travel the interwebs at warp speed....you won't be able to stop the overwhelming PR backlash and negative press....and in the process, you will give away the secret that was, until now, known to a handful of HoFo readers to millions of Internet users worldwide.
Of course, this will result in you having to secure your site...something you should have done to begin with, and moved on with life. Instead, you've publicized a little known secret and let the Trojans inside the City.
Another corporation made a similar mistake recently and is now busy backtracking... http://www.dslreports.com/shownews/Swiss-Bank-Drop ...
Anyway...just wanted to pass along my two cents. I wish you well. Trust me...you will need all the well wishes you can get your hands on in the days to come.
Cheers!
-Kapil - birdman14, on 03/07/2008, -0/+5LOL they say that posting the links is hacking.. umm so typing in a web address is hacking? i guess im the best H5X0R there it then.
- Dumbledorito, on 03/07/2008, -0/+4You're not being buried by MobiTV. You're being buried for spamming Digg about your blog.
- Kelita, on 03/07/2008, -0/+4HoFo FTW!
- DigTheDoug, on 03/07/2008, -0/+4Nobody is going to read your stupid ***** blog or website. Most people just bury or (like me) automatically block anyone who posts stupid ***** like that in their comments.
- w7cma, on 03/07/2008, -0/+3I support the text bellow, it is obvious you lack understanding of the internet and how it works. I recommend you start by firing you IT department and re-hire one who understand and can implement the most basic of security. I also recommend you resign from legal council and let MoviTV find council who understand the internet, threating to shut down a forum like the Howard Forum which is made up of thousands of potential future customers for MobiTV is not only stupid but also a very bad PR move . We have done nothing wrong, fix your security and stop making threats you can not uphold. I also recommend you write a letter of apology to Howard Forum and maybe make amend will all the users who some day may be a paying customer.
Respectfully Your
Howard Forum User

To whom it may concern:
I openly requested the sprintTVlive.mcd document from a server attached to your Internet domain, MobiTV.com. I did so via a standard, ubiquitous Internet protocol, Hypertext Transfer Protocol (HTTP). The server, as an agent of MobiTV, readily complied with my open request. As such, MobiTV is legally complaisant to my possession of this document.
The sprintTVlive.mcd document contains explicit instructions for accessing MobiTV content. I followed said instructions. For example, I openly requested the live.mobitv.com:554/4103-CDMA.sdp audio visual content from a server attached to your Internet domain, MobiTV.com. I did so via a standard, ubiquitous Internet protocol, Real Time Streaming Protocol (RTSP). The server, as an agent of MobiTV, readily complied with my open request. As such, MobiTV is legally complaisant to my viewing of this content.
Court precedent has held that a Uniform Resource Locator (URL) (i.e. Internet address) is not subject to copyright protection, only the content linked to the URL may receive such protection. Thus, MobiTV has no grounds for protesting dissemination of affected URLs, all of which are openly, publicly accessible. And, if the aforementioned document or content is copyrighted material not intended for my free, personal use, then MobiTV, as the copyright holder or an agent of said holder, has a legal responsibility to secure and protect that copyright, should not have readily granted my open request for access to said copyrighted material. That grant implicitly bestowed upon me a license for my free, personal use of said material.
Technical incompetence is no excuse for misplaced legal threats. - Baldilocks77, on 03/07/2008, -2/+5Looks like the MobiTV losers are still drying to Undigg us.. at least we know they can click a button, but they can't code worth a crap.

Example: rtsp://live.mobitv.com:554/53-CDMA.sdp --- you can start watching Discovery! - Dumbledorito, on 03/07/2008, -0/+2You can also copy the links into Quicktime's "Open URL" function.
But only for education purposes. Besides, it's like watching a moving postage stamp with the sound quality of one of those musical cards from Hallmark. - speer360, on 03/07/2008, -0/+2I LOVE HOFO THESE A**HOLES
They need to lean how to secure there own product it would be a different story if someone hack into there system and made a bypass to get to it but it is openly avalible - tyrael, on 03/07/2008, -0/+2damn MobiTV is freaking shisty!!!
- Dumbledorito, on 03/07/2008, -0/+2Then you're being dugg down for spamming AND being redundant. And sour grapes that the other thread is getting more Diggs than yours.
- Dumbledorito, on 03/07/2008, -0/+2Way to win over the crowd, sparky.
Are you new around here? You don't seem to get how Digg works; you're doing just about everything wrong and getting buried for it. - tj111, on 03/07/2008, -0/+1Figured I'd share the love.

Howard, great catching up today. Again, we're big fans of the sight and our intention was never to bring your entire sight down or to "censor the Internet" like we're being accused. The irony is that is quite the opposite type of company we are and as one of the leaders in new media, we couldn't be more supportive of the rights of sights like yours. Please know that our first priority is always to fix any security issues with our system and we're doing that. Additionally, we also have a responsibility to our content and carrier partners to reduce the impact of any breaches to the system once they occur and that was really the basis for the correspondence you had with our legal team.
I look forward to continuing to find interesting and vibrant insights from HowardForums.
Best regards,
Paul Scanlan
Cofounder, President - dtkeith, on 03/07/2008, -0/+1bigd s14 from EA/Hofo checkin in here. I dugg both articles, and I am emailing and about to call MobiTV. we must not give into their demands!
- Baldilocks77, on 03/07/2008, -1/+2It's ok MobiTV, I have been burying all of your positive Digg's here too. We can both play this game. If you spent more time securing your URL's you wouldn't have all this publicity tonite. :)
- centinall, on 03/08/2008, -0/+1I can just imagine the Management responding to an Engineer bringing up this "loophole" just before all this hell broke loose. Got to love the idea of security through obscurity.
- maevro, on 03/07/2008, -0/+1There are tons of forums where you can download a cracked MobiTV .cab but yet you go after Howard Forums, who frowns on cracked software? This is a very sad situation.
- jdsatmark, on 03/07/2008, -0/+1LamoTV you probably paid the greedy US wireless carriers who force their customers to purchase live TV over a data connection instead of getting it over the air for free like in the rest of the world.
- alphaod, on 03/09/2008, -0/+0It's not his blog. It's a forum he runs. He's also a moderator on hofo.
- ruralcoder, on 03/07/2008, -0/+0It seems that the mobitv client has already been shipped on sprint phones and they are unable to restrict access to the site without affecting all existing paying customers. The only lawers know to do is threat and sue.

- luckymikerocks, on 03/07/2008, -1/+0I wonder if the content providers will sue MobiTV. I would assume whatever contracts they have indicate that MobiTV will secure the content so only paid subscribers can access it.
- disbefunny, on 03/07/2008, -1/+0insane !
ho-fo openly discourages ,bans and deletes discussions on theft of services .
all ho-fo did was pass info from sprint forums, about open, public url.
hint : public - open, viewable by all
pubic - closed, viewable by invite only
