Although if there was a type of verification system they implemented on the mininova for the Hyper MP's. Plus why would you want to download something with ads if there's products with ads that are the same number of clicks away? Maybe higher quality. But that's really not a big deal most releases aren't bad quality.

Too late for me. - benologist, on 11/20/2008, -1/+4No. What mininova sees is a future after piracy, or at least bittorrent and p2p piracy. They've been working for years towards becoming a legitimate CDN for content creators.
It's really the big difference between them and TPB. TPB just talks ***** to distract everyone from their real purpose - profiting off piracy for as long as a legal loophole allows it. In a way I think it's a good idea as long as they only show a few ads and make them as short as possible. If this works out and they keep it non-intrusive then I think everyone will win in the end. The only downside is, what will happen if we burn the content to a dvd and watch it on our TV? Would it burn correctly and if it so would it display correctly? Since the 3rd party program has to make an outside connection I assume if we successfully burned our content and watched it on a TV the ads wouldn't show up.

an exe? seriously, no - AzureRise, on 11/20/2008, -2/+4Hm, exe which will eventually be outdated, and limited to a specific OS, no way to convert to run on other devices, plus other limitations. Like one guy mentioned in the comments it's basically DRM. I guess the target is the casual computer user, I'm not interested. A better option would be more like Vuze's ad support, having ads in the actual video file (you can argue that they can be edited out and then the file re-uploaded, however that'll happen either way whether they strip it from the exe or someone else uploads a no drm filled torrent of the same file). This seems kind of useless to me. However it's a good start. If you haven't checked it out Hulu.com streams free legit shows with ads interwoven. While that seems like a better solution it requires an internet connection and you can't save the file.
I'm glad businesses are finally starting to utilize p2p however. And ***** this bug is annoying. The bottom of the text box keeps jumping up and down I can't see what I'm typing. - Jerky1312, on 11/20/2008, -0/+1It would have been a better idea to use a short film, instead a feature that is over a gb in size, to get people to test this out. As for what they are trying to accomplish, they simply want to offer more free content and this may be their only option to get this specific content on their CD system. As long its within their controlled environment and it doesn't spread over to other content being distributed, I don't see why anyone should be upset with this move. As Niek said, you don't have to download these type of releases. If you trust the screening process of the Mininova CD (Content Distribution) system, you really have nothing to fear with these releases.

It's a gif not exe. - sleaveofawizard, on 11/20/2008, -1/+1Look I have been an avid downloader for 7 years now and I can understand why someone would come up with this idea…….the media industry is hurting, have a look at some stats and you’ll see that they’re losing a hell a of a lot of money because of torrent networks. To date we can all be thankful that we still have the ability to view content without paying for it, although we really ultimately do by paying for our bandwidth anyway, but the studios aren’t seeing a cent back from us at all. We are lucky that they are still putting out decent quality content, If this system can help give a few dollars back from each viewer and we still can view this content for free I see it as we are still being satisfied and we are also helping the studios put out more fine content for us to consume…..The studios are a business after all and they put out the best content on the planet……….PEACE….KEEP THE CONTENT ROLLING IN AND AROUND THE INTERNET!!!!!…with our help
