- Lynn, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2It is an ultra-mobile PC. Here is a better pic of it.

- Lynn, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1This device is not made to compete with the ipod. This is an ultraportable PC.
An Engadget blog from earlier this month quoted a Microsoft mobile platform division executive calling the device "wearable, always on, no larger than 10 inches, connected through 3G networks, pen-based" and that it would sell for $500 or less.

- tolbs, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I don't know what Apple has to do with any of this. Doesn't look like a product that would compete with any products Apple has (yet).
Looks like an interesting concept and seems that many people are interested. Kind of suprised it's "Microsoft Hardware" because that kind of thing is few and far between (aside from Xboxes, Mice, and Keyboards) - BugMeNot2, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0"WTF, I thought the Xbox Portable was going to be a laptop?"
Um, what...? Laptop? - mrtibbs309, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I am interested.
- Tobey, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Wow, that is ugly. Looks like something from the '60s!
- osrevad, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Not real origami = not news
;) - cyberghost232, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0has m$ come out with anything really interesting lately?
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0It's probably just the average video/music player probably will be PDA-like. Nothing new.
- drufus, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0am i the only one that thinks the 1960's dentist office-institution green/white combo is great!
as for the contents, i don't see anything new about it, bleh - student69, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Intresting
- cadrass, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0that thing is ugly as all get out!!!
- lollerskates, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Bugmenot2: "Um, what...? Laptop?"
Damn, it was a crappy joke on how Enormously-Huge the Xbox is, thus requiring them to create a laptop called the "Xbox Portable" to run it's games. - jiub, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0So, is the keyboard detachable? If it just folds straight back the keys will be on the outside which doesn't sound like a good idea at all.
- lollerskates, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0WTF, I thought the Xbox Portable was going to be a laptop?

I kind of hate viral marketing.... - MODIfied, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0It might give apple a run for its money. plus i have to say the name is not bad
Oragami -
Taking something simple (paper) and making it into anything you want ( - snapya, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I WANT IT!
- Bigredman74, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Could this new device run on MS Linux and be iTunes compatible? Let's wait and see.
- seattle98104, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0why, in the the picture the white one, is the LCD monitor in background of Pro Tools on OSX ???
if this is a microsoft photo, why is Apple software (OSX) being featured in the background?? - Humptydank, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Okay, what with the name and everything I'm putting my money on an E-Ink style book/document reader, with a super-detailed screen using some hyper-real newly-tweaked typeography technology from Microsoft.
You'll be able to use it to read books and documents, import or input documents from other machines via bluetooth, wifi, or infra-red, beam documents to other devices or printers, and use the display to run desktop presentations. I wouldn't be surprised if it had an input device that was optimized to its limited scope -- throw away the pen/keyboard and stuff, and replace it with two thumb controllers on either side of the screen.
Also wouldn't be surprised to see it linked to an online service to provide books, documents, or even web sites optimized for the platform.
Oh, and it will be ****way, way, waaaaay*** too expensive for what it does.
I'll be back on March 3rd to collect my money... - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0The design of those two devices are a flashback to the early 90's.
- bantam, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0well it doesnt look like an apple product. Just feels way non-apple. But yeah whats up with the OSX in the background lol
- Urusai, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Oh. My. God.
Quick, buy MSFT, this is bigger than "Ginger"! - chriskzoo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0This is, quite simply, an MS tablet that would be perfect for the business traveller. Simple as that.
- staplebox, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Has anyone noticed that the words "touch me" on the main oaragami page are an anagram for "cut me ho"? I think MS has finally invented a device for pimps to keep track of their hos. Fianlly.
- AttroPheed, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Personally, I'm more interested in what it does than how it looks...
- zetsurin, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I can't believe the people on the engadget page are saying they want one when it's a) ugly, b) they don't know what it even does, which makes me believe they are wanting one because of it's looks, hence my a) comment.
- benkenobi00, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I wonder if Vista will be running on whatever Oragami is.
- theHM, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0@cdman98: check register.com - the domain origamiproject.com is regestered to Microsoft.

I agree, wake me when someone makes a palm out of paper. - I8PP, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Origami out of smart-paper anyone?
I like this, I just hope it's useful and cheap, but it probably won't be. - Thud, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Wow, that's amazing. Possibly, "Origami" is the most amazing thing ever invented! Nobody really knows what it does, but I bet they will have to REDESIGN ENTIRE CITIES around it!!
- Lynn, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Another pic of the Mini-Tablet.
http://www.windowsfordevices.com/files/misc/gates-winhec.jpg - lwdallas, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Sure is butt ugly.
- Jarasmen, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Looks cool, but I'd be more interested about that Apple's tablet with the touchscreen or something.
- fletchowns, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0That looks so fake...you've got to be kidding me.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0commming in september 06 i asked bill himslef seriously

WOO FREAKIN' HOOOO! - Inbal, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0That mysterious webpage was way more exciting.
- Yoshi39, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I'll buy this as soon as it runs Linux, seriously.
- rebrad, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Nice looking device.

- cha0sth30ry, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I've recently converted to being a Mac user a little over a year ago. The keynotes seemed exciting until now... I've been waiting for a Mac Tivo or an video Ipod on steroids. I didnt' get either today... Origami is much more exciting.
- AgoodChap, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I saw something like this on another forum :
Link: Startsomethingpc, was a website Windows used for a design competition for Windows Vista

There are already sites out there to promote it whatever it is.
http://www.origamiportal.com/
That site actaully gave a play by play of the video and tlaked about what it might be. LOL too much time on their hands. - felchdonkey, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Microsoft invents... the Newton!
