- leamanc, on 07/02/2009, -2/+35If I want to search Twitter, I'll go to the site and use their search function. 99.9% of the time, if I'm using a search engine, I'm going to want search results more substantial than a tweet of 140 characters or less.
- Pelikoira, on 07/02/2009, -6/+36In my opinion, bing isn't as clear as google. If I want to search something, I don't want to see random blaa blaa like tweets. I wan't to see link to site I am looking for.
- dmcaudio, on 07/02/2009, -5/+28i dunno about you people, but I'd rather have unrelated pages with similar keywords than random thoughts by idiots and teenyboppers.
- dungbeetle, on 07/02/2009, -2/+21I'm about sick of this Twitter fad and there's no way that adding millions of useless Tweets (shoot me now) will add to the quality of search results.

- armbar, on 07/02/2009, -0/+11You sure you know what you're talking about? It looks like they used a Twitter API, which has nothing to do with robots.txt.
- Barackalypse, on 07/02/2009, -0/+10Under what scenario would a Twitter search result be what the user was looking for? Its a glorified text message and thus cannot contain any in depth information.
- peacebyanymeans, on 07/02/2009, -0/+8Yeah, but Conan references are right here.
- dixta, on 07/02/2009, -3/+9"Now let's see how long it takes Google to copy it." - Ummm, they won't. Twitter's API and results are horrific, and in terms of actual importance, who gives a rat's arse about tweets? When looking up news on Michael Jackson, do you really want your search results polluted with "ZOMG BEST FRIEND TRACEY JUST TOLD ME HE DIED!! SO SAD :(((((((((((((("
There's a reason Google don't spider tweets..... tweets are ***** as far as search is concerned :-) - inactive, on 07/02/2009, -8/+13I think I would count this as one more reason to keep using Google.
So please Google, do NOT integrate with Twitter. I don't want to wade through one line Twit-spam garbage to find relevant results. - RoboDonut, on 07/02/2009, -0/+5I already hate Google for changing my search keywords on me ("Want 'parallel processing'? Have 'parallelogram' instead!"). I won't think it's "GREAT" at all.
I want a search engine that blacklists social networking sites and accepts regular expressions for queries. - bmcnally, on 07/02/2009, -1/+5I have a feeling that most of the commenters didn't read the article (though, to be fair, it doesn't go into that much detail on what exactly is happening - you can read more about it at the Bing blog http://www.bing.com/community/blogs/search/archive ...
It is currently live for specific, targeted searches that may be {[name] twitter}. It's not like they are throwing Twitter results into random searches. In the future, it will probably serve much the same function as News results do (to a certain extent). - Wilddigi, on 07/02/2009, -1/+5Google it
- smackydoodle, on 07/02/2009, -3/+6I dunno about you people, but I'd rather make comments without reading the article because if I had read the article I would have realized they aren't including random thoughts by idiots and teenyboppers.
- tommyny04, on 07/02/2009, -5/+8I was checking out bing and that ***** looks amazing.
Type in "Michael Jackson" in both bing and google and see which results you better prefer - Kruse, on 07/02/2009, -2/+5Binger
- IntelSoap, on 07/02/2009, -0/+3"So when will Google Search include relevant Twitter and Facebook updates?"
they already have, all relevant twitter and facebook updates are displayed on the google homepage - a3r0, on 07/03/2009, -0/+3If you think they're working together, why did you bother with your first post?
- gmark13, on 07/02/2009, -4/+7No contest!! Bing wins!!
- kurupttek, on 07/02/2009, -0/+3http://lmgtfy.com/?q=What%27s+a+Twitter%3F&l=1
- Gizza, on 07/03/2009, -0/+3Except that forum results are often the most helpful, especially when you are troubleshooting or using error messages as your search string. Twitter on the other hand, I can't imagine why I would want that in my search results.
- indiepenguins, on 07/03/2009, -2/+5Real innovation? Yeah, like I want every douchebag's tweets in my searches. I'll stick to Google. Besides, Twitter has its own search.
- LightSpeed4, on 07/03/2009, -0/+2it only pulls up twitter results when your search term includes "tweets" or something similar, and from PROMINENT PEOPLE, not random people.
Question though...when Google does something like this, will you call it the greatest hing since you leraned to masturbate?
Oh, and I guess that Googles founders are also idiots. They have publicly admitted that this is an area that they need to work on because it is the future of search. But yeah..I will take your opinions over there. - LightSpeed4, on 07/03/2009, -0/+2

- YouKnowHim, on 07/02/2009, -5/+7it will be just like when you search google and get forum results.....thats all that twitter is a FORUM...a big one..
- sneakyness, on 07/02/2009, -4/+6I'm sorry but if I'm going to search twitter, I'm using the search function built into Tweetie, the OS X app by Atebits (wonderful little company). Which by the way is no different from the search on Twitter's website.
If I'm going to search the internet, I'm going to use Google. Bing might even be better, but I don't like the way it looks. I like the way Google looks. It hasn't changed in years, while gaining vast amounts of functionality. I don't want some ***** picture of an airplane over a desert or some *****, I want a search box. - waydee, on 07/03/2009, -0/+2***** twitter.
- d3dm, on 07/02/2009, -3/+4What's a Twitter?
- dazparkour, on 07/03/2009, -0/+1I'm sure if I gave a ***** about twitter I'd
A: use it more
B: still search google using site:twitter.com {terms} - dragossh, on 07/03/2009, -0/+1I agree, there are a lot of useless tweets too.
- Prodigy1990, on 07/03/2009, -0/+1google is smart enough to not integrate something as stupid and pointless as twitter into their search engine.
- JanSimpson, on 07/03/2009, -0/+1Aww - Twitter is a good social media - Friendfeed.com is much better. Twitter is just like most social media apps, once they get a little media attention, successful, the crazies come in and divide and conquer - they did with Linkedin, MySpace, Facebook. As I am disappointed with Google (the only way you can work there is if your SAT scores were very high LOL) I am glad Bing is out there and hope they Microsoft finally stays true to who they are - good glad this happened.
- usaseopros, on 07/03/2009, -0/+1Say whatever you want about Bing, but the fact remains that Bing brought in Twitter results before Google, and both search engines were trying to figure out a way to integrate them. Point goes to Bing in this particular case.
- pw378, on 07/02/2009, -0/+1Ah, I see what you did there! :)
- dragossh, on 07/03/2009, -0/+1There are a lot of interesting things on Twitter if you know where to look. PEBKAC maybe?
- dragossh, on 07/03/2009, -0/+1"Michael Jackson"
"Michael Jackson" twitter
See the difference? - dungbeetle, on 07/03/2009, -0/+1Which may very well be true but you can't honestly say that the majority of it is worth reading.

For further proof, there was a story about something that happened in Iran a couple weeks ago that sorta demonstrated the vital role Twitter can play in journalism. I can't quite remember what it was about, though. Hmmm.... - jeffgtr, on 07/03/2009, -3/+4The last thing I want is my search cluttered up with twitter posts. If I want to search twitter I'll go to search.twitter.com for crying out loud. There is so little that comes out of Twitter that is relevant when it comes to the average search. Sure it was cool for the Iran uprising, and interesting during the swine flu pandemonium. But typically when you are searching for critical information you aren't going to find it in the twitter static. Here's the other thing, Microsofts tv add goes on about information overload and then they add twitter chatter into bing. Typical. I'll just add this to my list of reasons I stick with Google. Good grief for M$ it's one step forward (Xbox, Win7 maybe) and several steps back (vista, ie, zune, ie pucking viral ad attempt tragedy, lets assume everyone is brain dead ie marketing to name a few). I realize they have a huge OS market share and an Office dynasty but really this looks like a company that could just go belly up in a few years.
- MWeather, on 07/03/2009, -0/+1That's great news! I was having difficulty finding news and information about Michael Jackson.
- shamittomar, on 07/03/2009, -0/+1Do you mind sharing it? Show it or it didn't happened.
- LightSpeed4, on 07/03/2009, -0/+1it only pulls up twitter results when your search term includes "tweets" or something similar. now what are you gonna say to defend your google fanboyness?
