Dammit, folks! Stop stealing! It's crap like this that makes it so easy for the software industry, the MPAA, the RIAA and toadying congress-critters to pass stupid assed laws that screw us all. - mikataur, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2So, more time to put some extra spots on the Leopard. And looking ahead to 2007...
Intel Mac + Leopard + Vista + Ubuntu = pure computing nirvana in the same beautifully designed box.
It's a GREAT time to be moving to the Mac! - 16x9, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1lynn wrote: "I actually like Apple but this Bluestarr child has pissed me off. So I hope I have not offended anyone else."
Kind of you to ask. I own and use a Mac and I'm far from pissed of at you. :)
I don't want to speak for or against Bluestarr but I do understand how unbridled vocal enthusiasm for one's choice of computer platform can come across as a bit annoying. I've read many fanatical anti-Apple diatribes here on Digg just as I've read many fanatical anti-Microsoft diatribes. Speaking for myself, it's all a bit silly.
Don't misunderstand me, nothing wrong with having an opinion. But when an opinion starts moving toward foaming-at-the-mouth fanaticism, that's a little scary. - mikataur, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1> Apple did that... the OS was really buggy up until OSX.4.2, plus Microsoft might wana get this one right because as far as we know MS could could the Window brand and start from fresh.
You're clueless! 10.0 was crap. 10.1 was usable. 10.2 was great. 10.3 was perfect. 10.4 is amazing.
"As far as we know" - huh??? We know exactly what Longhorn/Vista consists of. Developers have been given extensive previews so they can write software for it. There are no surprises, no unknown features, just the time needed to squash the bugs and ship the upgrade.
You might have heard something about "Singularity" and are getting really confused. - birch25, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1"They're so behind that by the time Vista and Longhorn are gold, OS X will be at 10.5 or 11."
exactly, Tiger does everything longhorn does (all the useful stuff, at least) and it's been out for a good part of the year. and tiger wasn't even a huge upgrade from Panther. 10.5 is supposed to be where apple takes osx to the next level. they were shooting to release it around the end of next year and go head to head with vista. now they may beat microsoft out the door.
microsoft is a year away from catching tiger. apple's going to be 2 years past that point when vista is out. i've got $20 saying the average customer moves to the mac and microsoft transferring most of their efforts to software and the xbox. - hayden.evans, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1apple will beat them to the game with the intel macs, by the time vista comes out, no one will even care. Hell, i dont even care right now, its not like they're doing anything innovative with it.
- ThisMessIAmIn, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1It seems Steve Jobs was right. Real artists ship, something Microsoft can't seem to do.
- althe3rduww, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1What confused me is... Microsoft has enough programmers to occupy a small country. More programmers are working on vista than OS X. So how come apple has no problem putting out more features and making release dates, and Microsoft continually strips features and delays?
And drop the Acer comments, when is the last time you saw anyone using an Acer computer (me it was 1993)? I honestly doubt those market share percentages are anywhere near accurate. If Acer had more market share than apple then I should see more acers in the market than apple, and I definatly don't. Acer is like that old celebrity you hear about once a blue moon and you say "really? I thought she was dead?". - randylovin, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1"You know how many bugs in OS x would be found if all the windows users switched to mac? a lot
If there is a lot of people using an OS a lot of bugs will be found"
There are already a lot of documented bugs with the most current version of OS X. The thing is, unlike MS, 90% of them aren't "a webpage can root your ***** machine". - cliche_kitty, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1A message to Microsoft:
Your customers are not your beta testers. Don't release Vista until it's ready. - yvovandoorn, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I love Apple, but must we fan boy every thread so badly, they already have to wait longer... we should feel sorry for them instead we are being this rude. Tisk tisk.
and math_Genius... quit talking, I'd rather live with a few bugs here and there then getting my computer owned by spyware and/or viruses OR installing software to protect me from such. - hayden.evans, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1LONG LIVE APPLE!!!
- Flyngwalrus, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0canucksin2006: You're incredible.
- deut, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Hey kneo, you're in the Vista beta programme. Does Sony's root kit work on vista? :-)
- .Steven, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Vista needs to concentrate more on security and standards rather than trying to impress the ***** who want a glossy colourful GUI.
- DewayneSmith, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Another year with XP. Thank Gods, I don't want Vista.
- Mwd500, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Im not even bothering to wait anymore, woo another ms operating system, Im happy with xp now. If ms concentrated on keeping their current products they ship good instead of trying to copy everything everyone releases to a point where each thing they have is buggy then they might be respected again. Whats the point in buying it, it will be buggy for ages and they wont do nothing about it and just when its finally patched after 3 years another one will come out.
- grayapple, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0"God why can't Microbollocks get this OS out the door? Apple continuouly reaches its shipping dates."
Apple did that... the OS was really buggy up until OSX.4.2, plus Microsoft might wana get this one right because as far as we know MS could could the Window brand and start from fresh. - tryferos, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Talk about changing places...Microsoft sounds like a sinking ship, delays, bugs, delays, security holes, weekly patches.
Apple on the other hand is riding a pretty good wave of exciting new tech, on what seems like a weekly basis.
And with all the stuff thats been stripped out of Vista is the eventual release going to be met with a worldwide "eh"?? - AirShark, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Yeah, I'm positive they'll keep their release date...ready or not
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0did anyone really think it was going to be on time?
- Lynn, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0@Bluestarr
Acer sells more computers than your Apple (4.7% World Share).
@All other Mac fans
I actually like Apple but this Bluestarr child has pissed me off. So I hope I have not offended anyone else. - dongiaconia, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Maybe companies will have started *designing* the special monitors you will need for the copy protection ploy by that time.
- aznboi04k, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1once again, MAC OSX is light years ahead of windows.
- Sh|fty, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I dont think were going to be seeing little ole vista for a while
- debian_, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2Got to love the pure and uneducated hate of MS that pops up from time to time. If MS releases Vista too early people are bitching they are trying to gouge money from people, claiming that XP is still good enough. If they change dates and release late people bitch about MS not being able to ship a product. Hilarious.
- zonk3r, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0good i hope they delay it indefinitely and release windows 2000 again as it's successor. pretty much the only release they ever really got right... too bady they never really liked 2000.
- peace, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0
Depends on how you define "buggy"? Is it buggy that you need a new monitor/TV to play movie on vist@?
Oh, wait. They called those *features*.
http://news.zdnet.com/2100-3513_22-5844071.html - mikeman8905, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0doesn't bother me at all
If they keep up the CTP's and have vista out by the second half of 2006 I'll be fine - Lynn, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0@16x9
Thank you for your comment. - BlueStarr, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I'm trying the best that I can!
It Apple has 5% dimwit. - BlueStarr, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Listen buddy I don't need to do nuffin. You my friend are a know it all Poindexter.
- user43, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Steve Jobs didn't design the interface himself. Torvalds heads the development of the Linux kernel.
Take your medicine kids. Better yet, find monotonous jobs with long hours. Then at least you'll have a reason to be rabid. - Lynn, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0@Bluestarr
You my friend are annoying as hell. So you think that Microsoft is dead in 2006? You do realize that OSX is 2.3% of the World Market Share. - BlueStarr, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0You're clueless! 10.0 was crap. 10.1 was usable. 10.2 was great. 10.3 was perfect. 10.4 is amazing.
10.3 was anything but perfect. Don't lie. Tiger ***** kills Panther but even Tiger has issues and to some extent it will always be that way--the nature of computing.
Don't waste your time arguing with these children. Do what I do, pull your pants down bend over and ask them to take a lick. - BlueStarr, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1R.I.P Microsoft 1984-2006
- BlueStarr, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Apple OWNZ YOU *****! WE WIN-WE WIN-WE WIN-WE WIN!!!!!!!
(_0_) kiss my ass M$ Troll boys.
j/k friends... :) - aetherane, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Thank god! The current builds are incredibly buggy, and with the released of a bug filled visual studio, I was really hoping for vista to be put off. Now Microsoft will be able to get feedback from a more complete and stable version of its os.
- Lynn, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0@Bluestarr
You need to research my stupid friend. 2.3 World. 4.3 US. - Kolomaz, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0It is not true. I got my Vista Beta 2 in my December TechNet package... I am using them right now and sending bug reports to MS...
- Lynn, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0No one cares about Acer, that's the point. A piece of ***** computer company has doubled the market share of your all-mighty Apple.
You are a big talker when you can hide behind your computer. You are a sad little punk, who gets his sense of self-worth from an OS.
- geekoid, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0@user43
Apple don't use Linux. They use BSD as their core. Do research before making uneducated assumptions.
I personally will wait and see what Apple bring out next year. An Intel Mac with all the other stuff multi-booting sounds a much better idea! - randylovin, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1"I WILL PIRATE THIS"
LAWLZ!
They're so behind that by the time Vista and Longhorn are gold, OS X will be at 10.5 or 11. - MonkeyFit, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Wow. Everyone said Xp was rushed. And it was. Now they are taking time to fix bugs by delaying a BETA release (not even shipping it yet) And everyone says that it's a bad thing. Since when was fixing bugs a bad thing? Everyone rejoiced when Apple put out 10.4.3 which apparently fixed a lot of bugs. And they were fixing bugs on a product that had already shipped. But somehow it's a bad thing when Microsoft tries to fix bugs in a product that doesn't even have an official ship date yet. I was planning on using my friends dsl to download beta 2 when he's back from college. But I guess I'll have to settle for beta 1. Oh well. At least they take time to fix bugs instead of rushing like they did with XP.
- Panoctopi, on 10/12/2007, -0/+016x9:
wow, sanity...thanks! - Jasoco, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Who didn't see this coming?
Maybe it's not OS X 10.5 that'll be competing with Vista. Probably 10.6. - diggnationdevon, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Most of you probably didn't even read the article, it delayed beta 2, and will skip a release candidate, but it also said Vista will be shipped in Q2 2006 as scheduled
- Ir0n_mE, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1They should just give up.
- scotsman, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1God why can't Microbollocks get this OS out the door? Apple continuouly reaches its shipping dates.
- BlueStarr, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Yes I want to meet up with you in some dark ally and duke it out with you. Typical anglo-american mentality that violence is the solution to just about every difficult situation.
What problems you may have in your life right now, deal with them instead of directing your anger and frustrations to some unknown person on the interweb. This young punk just taught you a lesson. I suggest you seek counseling for the obvious emotional issues that appear to be affecting your life. -
