- cshields, on 01/18/2009, -0/+17While this is cool, there is no need to wait until 2013 as everyone has the opportunity to work with satellites like this today. Anyone can study some free sites online, take an exam and (in the U.S.) pay $14 to get an amateur radio Technician license, then find a local club or acquire your own equipment to work with the satellites. Some are configured to pass data packets and messaging, others will act as voice repeaters, and in some instances even the space station and shuttle astronauts will be on the air for a chat. Some satellites can even be worked from a handheld radio and handheld directional antenna, tracking the bird by hand.

0900:00 GMT: In space. Orbiting earth in an asynchronous ephemeris.
0900:01 GMT: Still in space. On the same ephemeris.
0900:02 GMT: Due to correct time due to relativity.
0900:01 GMT: Einstein was right, lol.
0900:03 GMT: On the same ephemeris.
0900:04 GMT: On the same ephemeris as before.
0900:05 GMT: tinyurl.com/ap2bd can suck my ephemeris. - inactive, on 01/18/2009, -0/+6This is not a Twitter replacement. It's not even "microblogging". The proposed use of the satellite is a waste of an opportunity for something more useful.
- InfiniteNothing, on 01/18/2009, -0/+5"So far, it says there will be a camera pointing at a digital screen that can display emailed user messages while in orbit."....
A camera pointing at a digital screen... in space. Seems easy to fake. - talhaasifdar, on 01/18/2009, -3/+6Wow this idea looks great, can't wait to see it implemented. I love twitter till then it becomes a service.
