- TheDrunkMonkey, on 10/12/2007, -10/+106I was completely shocked at the high concentrations of Mormons in Utah.

- pjh3000, on 10/12/2007, -1/+32Quakers have sleeper cells all over the country. They have indoctrinated the youth through 4 different video game releases. Quakers have a posse.

- pjh3000, on 10/12/2007, -3/+30Only when you draw pictures of Muhammed!
- whizzbang, on 10/12/2007, -5/+30Interesting choice of words! I think "communities" would be more appropriate than "cells" ;)
- ,,|,_, on 10/12/2007, -4/+28Where's the Agnostic map?
- smithco, on 10/12/2007, -1/+24When you say "cels", do you mean that Muslims are animated?
- newevilmind, on 10/12/2007, -19/+41I think it's odd how a lot of Christians don't just call themselves "Christians" they have to be a part of some smaller segment, or splinter group.
I also thought it should have showed a map for Scientology (Hubbardites). - Arnos, on 10/12/2007, -8/+28I'm surprised that Environmentalists weren't included.
[ducks] - DiggerTheDog, on 10/12/2007, -4/+24"I also thought it should have showed a map for Scientology (Hubbardites)."
Scientology isn't a religion, even though it engages in cult like reactions to members.
Hubbard himself said the only reason he organized as a religion was so he could pay less taxes to make more money. - jsd8cc, on 10/12/2007, -4/+24"I think it's odd how a lot of Christians don't just call themselves "Christians" they have to be a part of some smaller segment, or splinter group."
You don't go around calling just calling yourself a human, do you? No, you would probably label yourself an "American" or a "Mexicano"...or maybe even a "geek" or "skater". People form close-knit communities based on many factors--including distinct moral beliefs. It's human nature. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -3/+21newevilmind: Why would it be odd? Mormons and Catholics are both Christian, but their beliefs are VERY different. It wouldn't make sense for all of those people to be just "Christian." The denomination signifies the specific doctrines that the individual believes.
- msprout, on 10/12/2007, -2/+19The first splinter from the early Catholic church wasn't the Lutherans - it was the Eastern-Orthodox Church, in an event called the Great Schism, around 1054 A.D.
Just saying. Life happened before the Renaissance. - whizzbang, on 10/12/2007, -7/+24I guess thats where they don't get the "are you a terrorist?" look quite so much.
- duality, on 10/12/2007, -3/+19"No meaningful conversation can ever take place on these hot topics because those two extreme ends speak in different languages, faith---science."
As someone who is both a Christian and a scientist, I take offense to this comment. I wonder: how many languages do you think I'm speaking right now?
Anyone who thinks that science contradicts Christianity doesn't have all the facts, and they wouldn't believe these facts even if they did have them. Anyone who thinks that Christianity makes science useless has a serious crisis of faith, and they are so busy _trying_ to be a good Christian that they can't _be_ a good Christian.
There are many examples, but I will list only two. First, science has successfully proven that Noah's ark, according to the dimensions listed in the book of Genesis, is quite possibly one of the most stable watercraft the world has seen. Second, the book of Job is the oldest known text that speaks of dinosaurs, a very long time before the word "paleontologist" came into being.
So, with an open mind, which both science and faith require anyway, it is easy to see how well science and Christianity complement each other. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to see the connection. (Of course, when one is available, it certainly doesn't hurt.)

"I particularly like how they give all these different sub-religions of Christianity, and yet lump up all the different kinds of Muslims under "Muslim.""
Yeah, especially since Christianity is probably the slowest religion to come into separate denominations, taking several centuries to fragment in this way. Islam fragmented into the Sunnis and the Shi'ites after only a few decades, which probably makes it the fastest. (Islam's fragmentation involves the question of whether the first four successors to Mohammed were legitimate leaders or simple usurpers.) - jcims, on 10/12/2007, -3/+19>Only when you draw pictures of Muhammed!
Wow, i had to register just to say 'haha! that got a good belly laugh out of me' - whizzbang, on 10/12/2007, -1/+17This is interesting stuff! I'd love to compare the "church bodies" one to things like republican/democrat, split or average wage and stuff like that.
- infonography, on 10/12/2007, -3/+19Dantooine - Death Star free since 1976.
- booberry, on 10/12/2007, -1/+17First stop oatmeal, next stop the fashion industry.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -7/+21What makes a Christian? Personally, I'd say its one who believes in Jesus Christ. Being a Mormon, and being someone who believes in Jesus Christ, and being someone who spent 2 years working 24 hours a day as a full-time missionary preaching the gospel of Jesus Christ from the Holy Scriptures (including the Bible), I'd say I'm a Christian.
Please don't confuse ignorance of other faiths with "facts" of contradicting doctrines. The Book of Mormon and Bible do not contradict each other. In my 2 years serving as a missionary, I never found a single person who could point out even one spot where they contradict. - Duston, on 10/12/2007, -8/+22That's right because there are no Christian Democrats?
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -3/+16Yep is looks like Oregon is your best bet for escaping religious saturation. Funny enough, I don't hear of many problems coming out of that state either.
- super_duper, on 10/12/2007, -3/+16Quaker was a lot stronger than I thought they would be.
- DarthTurducken, on 10/12/2007, -4/+17Great! So, come the Rapture, us atheists will know whose houses are unattended.

- pjh3000, on 10/12/2007, -3/+14Buddhism isn't a Religion. It's more of a philosophy or "way".
- doctornkul, on 10/12/2007, -0/+11No sign of Hinduism either.
- cnt2infinity, on 10/12/2007, -1/+11No Hindu, Sikh or Buddhism.
- FullMetalMonkey, on 10/12/2007, -9/+19When you say "cels" it makes you appear as though you think every Muslim out there is a Terrorist.
- eth3l, on 10/12/2007, -3/+12There are Christians - those that believe that Jesus was the son of God. Under Christianity there is Catholicism. That's the church set up by Peter, I believe. Then there are the Protestants (from the word Protest). those are Christian religious that differed from Catholicism in one way or another. The first big one was the Lutherans - lead by Martin Luther's 95 Thesis.
Religious Freaks? I don't Digg that comment. - Hendo, on 10/12/2007, -4/+13How very thoughtful and Stalin-esk of you.
- lane.montgomery, on 10/12/2007, -4/+13I think a Christian is more properly defined as one who:
1. Believes in the three entities of the Trinity and their "oneness" (i.e. Jesus was not an angel or a prophet, he is God).
2. Believes in original sin the only way to overcome that sin is through Christ (i.e. no secret knowledge like agnostics or mormons and no animal sacrifices like jews since Jesus' blood was to replace the animal sacrifice ritual).
3. Believe that Jesus came back to life after being dead for a day and a half or so. Not just spiritually, but in the same body he died in.
4. Believe that Jesus didn't die again after he came back to life, he ascended directly to heaven.
5. Believe that Jesus is coming back again.
Christian denominations disagree about finer points of faith, acts, and governance; but a "real" christian denomination will have those as the primary tennants. Please correct me if I'm wrong. - FullMetalMonkey, on 10/12/2007, -4/+13Yes, the Macs have been discriminated against since the dawn of Computing!
The True Macintosh belivers should rise up against our PC discriminators! - neozeed, on 10/12/2007, -4/+13Its the truth though! What kills me is that there are no decent delli's in Miami Beach...
New York gets all the good stuff. - neozeed, on 10/12/2007, -7/+15I just wanted the map that shows where there are none. I would much rather live somewhere devoid of god people.
- synmoo, on 10/12/2007, -10/+18This will absolutely help me figure out where not to live.
- Duston, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8Interesting how many of the denominations are regionalized. (The exception being Catholicism which really isn't a shocker)
- laddie, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8you have obviously never been to oregon... there is a huge rift between hippies and hicks
- LucasOman, on 10/12/2007, -1/+9By that definition, any faithful Jehovah's Witness is definitely a Christian.
- nuclearpenguins, on 10/12/2007, -3/+11We PC fans outnumber you Mac heathens. Try and start an uprising and we will burn you heretics at the stake. This also goes for the Linux cultists.
- zaren, on 10/12/2007, -1/+9Where's the SubGenius?
Or the Pastafarians? - colebarnes, on 10/12/2007, -3/+11Actually, it's kinda funny. In the south, we elect Democrats overwhelmingly to out city/county/state governements and Republicans on the federal level. I don't really understand it.
