- Seaton, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6"If you are watching 5000 channels on a little TV that sits on top of a big TV, with the sound coming out of the big TV...You might be a redneck"
"If your 12 satellite dishes cause your front porch to collapse...and it kills more than 10 perfectly good hunting dogs...You might be a redneck"
"If a letter is mailed to you and somewhere on the front of the letter are the letters W & V...You might be a redneck."
"If you put 12 satellite dishes on your front porch, green astro turf on your stairs, let the rest of your house fall apart, and your neighbors don't complain...You and your neighbors might be rednecks." - vypergts, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5Wow....just wow.
I knew the satellite dish was the West Virginia State flower before, but I didn't know of anyone who had a garden... - ajforgue, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4I bet there's still nothing to watch.
- 16x9, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Nothing I enjoy more than geekyness taken to the extreme. And I'm not being sarcastic.
- clvrmnky, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5Next article features all his 124 remote controls arranged in careful patterns around his living room.
- felchdonkey, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Man, some people are really bigoted against West Virginia here. If this was a guy in the Marin hills doing the same thing, people would be calling him a geek instead of a redneck. Read the article. He's disabled, and he's got a cool hobby. Deal.
What I want to know is, who's going to get down to his house with a few MythTV boxes and start getting the bittorrent feeds going? - bossm4n, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2SETI called...they want their array back.
- Half-Fast, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I think state law here in West Virginia provides that satellite dishes will be provided to anyone outside city limits, lol. Usually it's the big old rusted mesh ones. This guy is high tech.
Also state law includes 4-wheeler's and a Sam's Club trampoline be issued to any child 10 yrs. or older living in a trailer, provided they have no driveway and the parent parks the truck in the front yard.
Man, cracking on my own state...like there's not enough redneck jokes about WV out there already. Oh well, it's well deserved in this case. - djtyrant, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1godly
- tonage, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1It's great to see WV on digg.
Yea, and we don't have to drive to Virginia and find a library to participate. Oh, thats right everyone. West Virginia is actually a separate state from Virginia. - leftfoot, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Watch his main TV be a 7 year old 14 inch Zenith.
- L0t3k, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Yeah. I'd say, "imagine you're his neighbor" with all that crap on his porch... but they probably have a bent frame from a 70's mustang on the lawn and two rotting couches on their porch.
Oh yeah... here we go...
"Neighbors, he said, never complained about his large display of dishes in front of his house. In fact, some of his dishes were hand-me-downs from his neighbors." - CaptSnuffy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1"OK, so tell me this... I live in Wyoming and I only get 1 damn channel if I don't have cable.. and if I have dish or direcTV I can't get any of the broadcast channels! What a bunch of BS!"
^No one lives in Wyoming, this man is an imposter.
Okay, who's going to say the first "...you might be a redneck" joke? - mbwilliamson, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Not to mention that Ohio fuct up the 2004 election :)
- 16x9, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1> sunking wrote: "this has redneck all over it."
> algorythm wrote: "Typical West Virginian... Has more money in his satellite service than his house."
I can't imagine that I'd do this either. But to each his (or her) own. Imagine how boring the world would be if we all behaved in exactly the same way. - ronin9, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Who needs TV? The Internet is where it's at.
- ChrisF79, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1My guess... one more satellite nailed to that porch and his house is tipping over.
- TokinDerrick, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1...not to mention all the boxes on top of his television.
- t0ny, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1And there is still nothing on to watch.
- WickedOwl, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1my hero.
- Svenson, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1HA HA I used to live close to Beckley, if you've ever lived in West Virginia you would know why this many satellites are necessary.
- yogurtslinger, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1@zidion - if you have more satellite dishes than teeth
- psyonide, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1felchdonkey:
Bet you anything the people making the biggoted comments are a bunch of spoiled kids. - tonage, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Check out this movie. It's called Spin.
You got to be kidding. The whole thing is a spin itself. Just a Republican bashing pant load. I guess the dude never got any spinning by liberals to put on there did he? How convenient. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Pink Floyd said "I've got 13 channels of ***** on the TV to choose from."
With 5,000 channels... No comment. - killkev, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1This man will never be laid.
Good digg though. - Forse, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1He needs a gf quick ;) I mean why waste time with tv when u have a nice girl!
- serra, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I'm from Ohio, it's my job to be bigoted against West Virginians.
Those damn West Virginians... :P - Wardvark, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0wow, I think I will stick to BT to get the two shows I watch, mmmm... Lost and Smallville. Think of the bandwidth you could get for that price.
- felchdonkey, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Since the people mentioning FTA didn't feel like saying exactly what the ***** they were talking about, I decided to give it a google. Here's a good Wikipedia page about FTA (Free To Air):
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Free_to_air - xodex, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I want to pick up all the channels from Japan, anyone know what I would need? Southern California Resident.
- mikeroySoft, on 10/19/2009, -0/+0STOP WATCHING TV!
- memo420, on 10/11/2007, -0/+0You can get the latest d1sh b3v keys here:
http://tvftakeys.info - sgtkillmore, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I wanna be just like him when I grow up...
- TheBigDI(K, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0There's a linux based "Free to Air" (FTA) reciever called "DREAMBOX". pretty cool if you look around you can H@(K "13e|| xpress/u" and "D ish net work" and get like an easy 5000 channels for "free*"
with dreambox you can even PVR cause you can put this box on the network.
or go with Kevin's Mythbox with a DVB card and you can do the same thing. but watch on your computer as suppose to a large tv screen.
here are some educational site with indepth information on their forums.

whoa... that's awesome!
I've always liked that idea... why don't we all just by C-Band NTSC/PAL receivers and just stop buying our valuable "content" from the ***** who brought us "Most people don't know what a rootkit is..." and "I believe an Email Tax would be a viable source of revenue"?
ahh... screw it. I like my SciFi Channel too much.
anyone know how to decrypt the SciFi Channel's Satellite broadcasts? - mbwilliamson, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0It kind of bothers me that many people view our state lowly. I mean, we're not that great, but at least we're better than Mississippi. :)
- Silverbird, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Multiple dishes...baah. I put up a single 90cm toroidal dish with multiple LNBs and a couple DiSeqC switches and I'm all set. It gives me a 45 degree swath of the Clarke belt.
Anyway, I think this guy tipped his hand. I'm fairly certain you can't get all those locals he's talking about unless you're running hacked firmware. Last I looked, most FTA locals were foreign language or PAX, and I don't recall a single one from New Orleans or Tennessee. - hckynck20, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Heres a list of the free to air satelites and their coordinates thats hes probably recieving http://www.lyngsat.com/
- michael.calfee, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0West Virginia has another dish worth checking out:

- mattyG, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0you might be a redneck if all the satellite dishes you own cost more than your house
- pyorre, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Well, I guess we've all gotta have a hobby..
- reviewcentre, on 10/11/2007, -0/+0He should invest on satellite tv on his pc it's a lot cheaper and for pretty much the same amount of channels lol. There's a good review on satellite pc tv at http://www.squidoo.com/Satellite-Tv-On-Pc-Review
Hope it helps you as much as it's helped me! - stoops, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0lmfao thats awesome!
stoopified! - mrmatchgame, on 10/12/2007, -0/+05,000 ch. and yet, nothing to watch.
- tonage, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0what the hell's wrong with a West Virginia hillbilly??
I bet nothing if these people were face to face with one. - Draconiko, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0probably still has "nothing on" moments
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0you know you've got too much time when....
+digg - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Redneck or not this ***** is cool! When I sell my townhouse and buy myself a real home, I'm going to do the same *****! Why not? It's free right? I've seen some FTA web sites that sell the equipment....very inexpesive and you dont even need that HUGE dish anymore.
