- esengulov, on 11/03/2008, -3/+190The domain is indeed hacked (or to be correct cracked)... we are working on getting it back. Thank you for your support guyz.

- tacojohn48, on 11/03/2008, -0/+49When I was in high school the school let our domain name expire and the site was immediately replaced with a porn site. Imagine a porn site that could get through the school's firewall that easily.
- vulcanius, on 11/03/2008, -1/+42Except when it comes to sex, drugs, or any other "morally objectionable" action, then you're pretty much *****.
- bixby1, on 11/03/2008, -2/+40That really sucks. It's such a helpless feeling. Best of luck getting her back online soon, guys!
- tylermenezes, on 11/03/2008, -4/+41For all the failures who are making fun of this guy, Aibek Esengulov works there.
- datagod, on 11/03/2008, -0/+34Time to "make use of" some tracker bots, tranquilizer darts, bullet ants and some anal lube. You know what I am talking about.
- enrico, on 11/03/2008, -1/+32I feel they missed a golden opportunity with the temp blog....

...would have been way better - invinciblechunk, on 11/03/2008, -4/+35Dubai is totally ***** lawless.
- NathanielJ, on 11/03/2008, -2/+29How about no what? He didn't ask you for anything.
- Cl1mh4224rd, on 11/03/2008, -0/+23> "Except when it comes to sex [...] then you're pretty much *****."
Ambiguous context! - NathanielJ, on 11/03/2008, -1/+22Yeah, I hate it when my server goes down and my DNS entries are reset to point to a site in Dubai.
- DivisibleByZero, on 11/03/2008, -1/+21Accidental domain expiraton is nothing new, even for big sites. Anybody remember when microsoft let Hotmail go down because of a domain expiration, and some user went ahead and bought the domain for them?

- gbhall, on 11/03/2008, -1/+14What the hell? What kind of school name does your school have?
- DivisibleByZero, on 11/03/2008, -1/+14Well, there are a lot of rich people in Dubai. I imagine they get all the sex, drugs, and rock n' roll they want. Laws don't apply to rich people.
- newman8r, on 11/03/2008, -2/+14password1
- floort, on 11/03/2008, -1/+13Enom has been phishing for a while now.
- ritubpant, on 11/03/2008, -1/+13servers? may be you need to find out what happens when servers go down
- NathanielJ, on 11/03/2008, -0/+111) Care to explain the "buy it back" logic? They already bought it, and someone stole it. That's like saying "what's the big deal about getting your wallet stolen? Just buy it back".
2) If digg randomly wasn't here one day and then started using a new URL, you really think they wouldn't lose like half of their users? Not everyone who uses a site is a die-hard regular user of that site. Most people are brought in by links founds via search engines and other sites, and all of those would be ruined. Bye-bye 75% of your traffic or so. - itsradBrad, on 11/03/2008, -0/+10whois much?
- inactive, on 11/03/2008, -3/+13i'm waiting for the day this happens to cracked
- inactive, on 11/03/2008, -0/+10Good luck getting the domain back from some guy in Dubai.
- inactive, on 11/03/2008, -0/+10Enom spam has been rampant lately. I get several messages a day at work that our domain has expired. Other staff are getting them too and forwarding them to me asking if they're legit. course they're not legit - why the frak would they be emailing you plebs about it and not me, the system administrator?
- Mujokan, on 11/03/2008, -0/+9It's a site that tells you how to make use of .com
- KevinAndAlexRoc, on 11/03/2008, -0/+8Which is why we all run to Amsterdam.
- inactive, on 11/03/2008, -2/+10Uh... They actually have more laws than most places. You will be imprisoned for having alcohol in your home despite your religion.
- Cl1mh4224rd, on 11/03/2008, -0/+8> "Hope the backups are current and the site is up and running soon again."
Seems it was just the domain name that's been redirected. Everything else that makes up the site should still be on their server... - redwallhp, on 11/03/2008, -2/+9From http://makeuseof-temporary.blogspot.com/:
"We are temporarily moving to this Blogger sub-domain for the moment because Make Use Of's GoDaddy hosting account was hacked earlier today and the domain name, makeuseof.com, was transferred by the hacker to another web hosting company based in Dubai. We have absolutely no idea how this was achieved but we are currently in full contact with GoDaddy's fraud department to get our legal property back. Obviously this is deeply embarrassing for us but we will not rest until the domain name is back in our possession. We have all worked too long and too hard to watch it all slip away like this."
Let me guess, the "hackers" just emailed GoDaddy support and said "can you please reset our password, we forgot," and they complied. Or they paid off GoDaddy to steal the domain? Don't use GoDaddy, people.
And also, this sucks. I hope they get it back. Losing a domain from an established site is no fun at all, and should be comparable to stealing a car...or an entire business. - NathanielJ, on 11/03/2008, -0/+7And clearly your internet skillz are l337 -- you know what domain parking pages look like.
- dudetaz2003, on 11/03/2008, -0/+7till you go whois it and see its still registered.
- inactive, on 11/03/2008, -7/+13Lol me too
Aibek - CaliforniaEagle, on 11/03/2008, -2/+7Ohh man! that really bites. It sucks there are people that cannot tolerate other people's success. The thing though is that I am not even sure why people do these kind of things anymore. Its not the 90s. They will most probably find them
- G-RaZoR, on 11/03/2008, -0/+5I'm with you on this one, What is a "MakeUseOf.com" ?
- robinbal, on 11/03/2008, -2/+7 I am sure it has been hacked. Well the post provides an update at the bottom as well. Seems like godaddy needs to figure out something to secure customers domain....this is the second time I have seen and heard a popular domain being hacked.
- titlesaysitall, on 11/03/2008, -0/+5Anal lube is too good for them!
- LemonDefragger, on 11/03/2008, -0/+5GoDaddy sucks. Lesson learned (again).
- UU7a, on 11/03/2008, -8/+12Great GoDaddy security lol.

Now, where is my free iPod ? - an0nym0us, on 11/03/2008, -0/+3is this akin to hostile takeover in the real world?
- 0011002, on 11/03/2008, -0/+3there was a recent major phishing attack done to all major registrars customers including Enom and NetSol so this may have happened.
Both Enom and NetSol have a warning about it on their front page - dariusperkins, on 11/03/2008, -0/+3Use sandpaper gloves.
- MAGZine, on 11/03/2008, -3/+6dontbeadouche.com
- tacojohn48, on 11/03/2008, -0/+3William Blount High School
the url was wbgovs.com
When the registration ended we think the place that we registered it through redirected it there out of spite. The school has regained the domain. -
