- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Now when i search for "* * *" (three stars) http://www.google.com/search?num=100&hl=en&lr=&q=%22*+*+*%22&btnG=Search , it's Macromedia agn. It goes on to be macromedia for many stars.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Lol .. now it's macromedia agn as the first results. Google is playing with me
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Wow .. Today it just changed! The first result is different - a Korean page. And that's not the only language difference here. It IS hard to understand why it's like that.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Correcting my last comment:
One should search using the "link" tag. http://www.google.com/search?q=link:www.macromedia.com/macromedia/contact/&num=100&filter=0 shows that about 4,110 pages link to the page, mainly from within the Macromedia website itself. But digg.com http://www.google.com/search?q=link%3Awww.digg.com has 20'000 links to it. - ScoTTeh, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Assuming * * does list every entry, Id say its because a whole lot of high profile sites link to Macromedia's website so their users can download Flash. Looking that the other results though, that theory doesnt seem to make sense though so whos knows..
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Yea mayb. But that's the Contact page. And the weird thing is that among the first 100 results, a lot pages are about Macromedia and Adobe's acquisition. http://www.google.com/search?q=%22www.macromedia.com%2Fmacromedia%2Fcontact%2F%22 shows that only about 672 link to the page. You open the cache and find nothing special that could respond to the "stars".
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0well the query is interesting enough.. Last time i did it was wikipedia on top. I could understand this one. But this time it's weird. Also, the Google Module available on http://www.googlemodules.com/
which displays the appx page count on Google's Index uses this very query.
