- cavemonkey50, on 10/12/2007, -3/+21TextMate alone is worth the bundle! This is the best deal ever.
- machine117, on 10/12/2007, -5/+19It's not really blog spam when it points to the actual page from the actual website that is selling it. Its not even a blog either, it's a forum post.
- jaredvolkl, on 10/12/2007, -2/+14I was totally on the fence about buying because the only app I really wanted was Textmate. This made me pull my wallet right out and purchase it.
- badnewsblair, on 10/12/2007, -0/+11Sorry.
- superkendall, on 10/12/2007, -2/+10One thing to note is that even if you already own other licenses, when you purchase you have the option of redirection a license for any application to a friend by filling in a name and email address you want an application license sent to.
- listrophy, on 10/12/2007, -3/+9What a calculated business move. Phill et al realized that there were LOTS of people holding off until TextMate was unlocked. By unlocking it now, all those people have no excuse to not buy the bundle. As it was before the unlocking, reaching the $100k goal was iffy... maybe 50/50? Now, reaching $100k is all but guaranteed. This whole "MacHeist will cover the difference so that no matter what a minimum of $100k will be donated" is just lip service. Phill never intended to have to chip in... though that doesn't mean he would have reneged on his promise.
- Dakk, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6Most of these apps are near end of life for its particular version and with Leopard around the corner people might need to pay to upgrade in order continue to use it.
- thesekeys, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6It's gonna be okay.

Some links about the controversy, which you should read about before participating. - benadamson, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7A scam would be if Phill gave you a keygen with each app. Participating was purely optional.
- roosterjm2k2, on 10/12/2007, -5/+10I dont see a problem with it. The link is good, he just liked to himself. Big deal. The internet is about traffic, why have a site if you arent promoting it where you can.
If you dont like it, get off the internet. - Timan, on 10/12/2007, -3/+8Yea, great bundle, but gotta admit its getting tiresome seeing these macheist/mydreamcrap/maczot stuff posted daily on digg.
Though textmate alone is worth that purchase. - skell, on 10/12/2007, -4/+9Re-digging this story since the other submission had over 70 diggs in a matter of minutes and got buried?
Dear Digg, please implement the unbury feature already! This story should've hit the front page close to an hour ago. - badnewsblair, on 10/12/2007, -2/+7Arcade. It is pretty cool. A great modern spin on some retro gaming.
- pierre, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5If you like textmate, also try skedit. I think its even better because it has really great site managment / ftp built into it.
- kerplunk, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6I bought this today because of TextMate.
This is awesome! :) - badnewsblair, on 10/12/2007, -2/+6MERRY CHRISTMAS AND HAPPY HOLIDAYS!
If the number does not reach $100k, the guys at MacHeist.com will make up the rest so that everyone will get all the apps in the bundle. Very cool guys. Thank you for making my Friday that much better! - will-rom, on 10/12/2007, -2/+6@macsroxr
The TextMate author is part of the MacHeist people. He will be making a killing anyway. Search for a few of the expose articles. - Area51mafia, on 10/12/2007, -2/+6Hmm..I don't even have a Mac at the moment (might soon) and I'm thinking about getting this. It's a really good deal.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -3/+7is there a Windows alternative to this?
- starlinkuk, on 10/12/2007, -3/+7Its not SPAM, 25% of all money made goes straight to charity (you choose one) so I think this is a worthwile cause
This is news and for some of us - we like/need this news - thesekeys, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5does it really matter? Either way it's charitable. I don't care if he reels in the dough-- I think he deserves what he's worked hard for.
- Mufflegrump, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4I've seen a lot of references to this being a scam. But I haven't really seen anyone explain why. As far as I can tell, some guy/company said "Hey, let me sell your software for cheap. You'll get lots of exposure / new users and I'll make a bunch of money, I'll even donate some of the profits to charity". Am I missing something here? Is everyone just upset because they think the developers got a bad deal? And if so...didn't the developers *know* what the deal was going into the situation? The MacHeist guys didn't pull a bait-and-switch or something, did they?
Seriously, if I've misunderstood this, please point it out, because at this point I still have *no* idea what this "scam" is all about. - starlinkuk, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5I have just bought it thinking it would be unlocked soon but now I am amazed that it is available now.
Thanks for the heads up Floris - Quix, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4I agree - I've been playing with the demos of both skEdit and TextMate, and skEdit looks like a better app if you're mainly doing HTML stuff (combined with CSSEdit).
Wish skEdit had been part of the bundle... - lowlevel, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4No one said you HAVE to use the new 2.x version if you upgrade to leopard.
- badnewsblair, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5@macsroxr
There is nothing wrong with that idea. However, why not give to charity by participating in this and get 9 other programs?
Your choice though really. - Floris, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4Yes, you get serials for all 10 apps now. If you buy today or two days ago .. whatever
- blackjack75, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4Really it's worth whatever it costs (within reasonable limits that is). The more you use TextMate the more you understand how great it is. It's all in the little details.
- staceyeileen, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4yes
- blackjack75, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4Why wouldn't textmate 1.x work on Leopard as it already does now ? Version 2 will be rewritten using Objective-C garbage collection which won't be available in 10.4, but it's not going to modify the textmate 1.x binaries you already have.
- MatthewDuke, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4I'm sorry, could somebody please explain to me what MacHeist actually is? Or what they do? I've read the (lame) "About" page, and it tells me nothing, just some cheezy "Wanted" posters. Apparently they are developing mac utilities, but there is a charity involved? I'm a fairly intelligent guy, but right now I feel like my dad trying to figure out the DVR...
- kerplunk, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5bahahahaha.
- andwoo, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3And I just checked the FAQ, and it's right there, you can, and I just saw Floris posted the same, thanks. very cool.
- jcdickerson, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Arcade - Already had Nanosaur 2. Arcade rocks.
- Floris, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3According to these graph predictions the 100k is now within limit http://www.tadkom.net/macheist/graph.html
- WZot, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Its basically a website where you get challenges...for example in cryptography, or looking for clues on different websites. When you have completed a challenge you get some (unfree) Mac software for free. You get some entertainment, the developers get some exposure for their software. From each heist you have also got some $2 coupons off the final boundle, containing some great apps most people might find use for a nice price of $39 (with all coupons) or $49 (with no coupons). Even without the coupons the price is a steal as some of the apps retail for more than the total price of the boundle.
- thesekeys, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4Fantastic news. Just to regurgitate: Bundle is over 80% off, 25% of purchase goes to charity of choice, option to gift apps that you don't want to fellow mac users in need. The heisting isn't over yet, either, so you can still jump in on the action. The last heist should be revealed within the next few days or so, and it's rumored that the final safe will contain the best freebies yet.
- frozendice, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4WHY?! Why do I have to be a poor college student? I would love to have textmate, but I can't even afford this bundle.
- fitchmicah, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Yes, these might just be my christmas presents to people...
- Floris, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3rofl, yes, it is on their macheist.com page, row with 10 icons, hover over them. And on the right it lists all the programs. delicious library, textmate, newsfire, disco, some game, shapeshifter, etc
- Floris, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Nanosaur2 or something was a bit disappointing, the arcade is fun enough.
- Timewalk, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Looks awesome, great deal.. :)
- macsroxr, on 10/12/2007, -3/+5Between this and http://www.macappaday.com/ I've gotten a bunch of apps that are really useful for very little.
That being said if TextMate is the only app you want why not just buy that, at least that way the dev gets most of the $$$. - Floris, on 10/12/2007, -3/+4Well, what happened? Uhm, click on the link from the digg article. LOL
- WZot, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2>=60% off version 2 is a great discount anyways imho. For all the value you get for your $49 (or $39) you get 10 nice apps. If you just want TextMate 2.0 you can buy TextMate now for the same price ($49) and get the free upgrade to 2.0.
- SLP1111, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3Just curious as to what Pangea game you guys are downloading with your bundle and what your impressions are of it.
- WZot, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2You can download fully functional (or mostly functional) unlicensed shareware versions for most of the apps from their respective sites. By the time you have got to try them all out you should have the serial, which you can put into the app to unlock it.:)
- machine117, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3Don't be mistaken though, because all previous heists (1-5) are closed and cannot be completed, so if you missed out, tough luck.
