- latova, on 11/21/2007, -1/+117The founding fathers of the US are probably rolling over in their graves. The purpose of government is to serve the people, not the minority of people with wealth.
- Emachine, on 11/21/2007, -2/+66no, the internet is for porn.
- techpunk, on 11/21/2007, -2/+59Jackasses!
- theholyraptor, on 04/07/2008, -0/+45From the comments to the article:
"The success of an entertainment company should be determined by the quality of their products, not by the sleazyness of their legal team." - mulling, on 11/21/2007, -0/+32Way to go, RIAA and MPAA. These punk kids who are ripping you off? Yeah, they're this country's future. They're your future. Keep strip-mining your future, I'd like to see how that works out for you.
You know, the best and most obvious long-term investment strategy would be to short their stock. - nexah3, on 11/21/2007, -0/+27That may be the case, but who in this country has any balls?
- FireAtWill, on 11/21/2007, -0/+27The future is going to laugh at us.
Of course, that's assuming that if we stay on such a retarded course there will be a future. - DarkRabbit, on 11/21/2007, -3/+24It's time for a revolution! Together, we are stronger than any leviathan! Tomorrow, if we all woke up and decided not to attend their factories and abide by their laws - they'll have no power!
- clark24, on 11/21/2007, -0/+20Too late. All of the factory workers have already had their jobs outsourced.
- MScrip, on 11/21/2007, -1/+19Let's say P2P copyright infringement is stopped on college campuses... how are they gonna stop the rest of the population who have apartments and houses and cable internet or DSL?
- pastasauce, on 11/21/2007, -1/+19Lets hope they are spinning in their graves. That way, we can strap magnets to them and use them to generate electricity. Everybody wins!
- monikerd, on 11/21/2007, -0/+16MPAA are crooks, who employ illegal, and immoral means. I'm not even going to bother reading what they have to say. Let they who are without sin cast the first stone. aka not them;
- acceptab1euname, on 11/21/2007, -0/+16Because healthy citizens can better contribute to improving their nation? Because we've got better things to do with the $1,600,000,000,000 we're going to piss away on wars?
- inactive, on 11/21/2007, -4/+19 Greedy self serving pricks.
- banmaster, on 11/21/2007, -1/+15I dislike them even when they ARE working for me!
- acceptab1euname, on 11/21/2007, -1/+15They've done a pretty good job thus far. For the past six years now, I have not bought a single RIAA or MPAA product. Nada, zip zilch. I don't go to the theatres (which sucked anyway, back when I did), I buy music from independant and local bands (thank you magnatune.com!) , and I when I actually want to rent a film, I pick it up from the mom-and-pop store across the street who got their entire DVD stock by buying them used. I don't listen to the radio (love my cheap mp3 player, though).
They're not going to get another dime from me, and I'm going to stick by that. As a (former) customer, I will not accept the way they attempt to treat me (hidden rootkits, ridiculous stances on making personal backups, etc etc ad nauseam). ***** 'em. - hungarian33, on 11/21/2007, -4/+17i hate lawyers. especially digg lawyers. dugg
- purpmint008, on 11/21/2007, -4/+17***** the **AA!
- inactive, on 11/21/2007, -5/+16Hilary Clinton?
- BBjrda, on 11/21/2007, -2/+13I only like lawyers when they are working for me... good post.
- frigginchris, on 11/21/2007, -0/+11and some of those students probably do porn/ strip to pay for college.
- salamibreath, on 11/21/2007, -2/+12Which god is in canada?
- inactive, on 11/21/2007, -2/+12It's time to defund the government!
- fearlessfx, on 11/21/2007, -1/+10the bulk of which is probably being infringed upon by college students.
- inactive, on 11/21/2007, -1/+10Hmmm, lets' see... Comcast is already intentionally messing with packets; and since Comcast is a major ISP, I would have to say that "they", the MPAA, RIAA, and other anti-p2p organizations, are already working their magic to towards stopping the rest of the population.
- MacSuxWindozSux, on 11/21/2007, -0/+8Those ones are taking your money too.
- yuutomo, on 11/21/2007, -0/+8okay, whatever the MPAA board, and it's lawyer is taking, I think the rest of the world would like some as well, if it distorts reality that well.
- Tippis, on 11/21/2007, -0/+8I agree, massive geothermal energy is a far better solution that a dozen tiny electrical generators.
- BTime, on 11/21/2007, -0/+8Buried as inaccurate, everyone knows the primary use of the internet is for porn..
- staplez, on 11/21/2007, -0/+8I've already stopped buying CDs for like 5 years now. Sometimes I hear a song I like and want to get a CD, and then I say to myself, no, no don't you do that. Many say it's not working or nothings happening. Music growth has already basically gone into a spiral of death. That's the real reason you have them suing people like crazy. They're clawing for life. And that's what it's all about, starve them to death. Sadly it'll take years, I mean we are talking about a multi-trillion dollar industry. However, this is a game of patience. I know I'm in it for the long run, and I hope everyone else is too. For if not for us, then for our children, one day the beast will fall.

god I hate blogspam - ArthasMenethil, on 11/21/2007, -4/+11Just keep filesharing and not buying music legally... it's hurting them and if we continue to hurt them maybe they'll stop screwing us over...
- evilregis, on 11/21/2007, -0/+7"used primarily to allow college students to traffic in infringing content,"
Nice use of the word 'traffic' there to paint them as Colombian drug lords. *****. - Elderon, on 11/21/2007, -1/+8These people just make me want to rip my hair out. You would think that a lawyer would = smart, but they seem as dumb as anyone else. Yeah I'm sure the reason the uni researchers and darpa created the internet was so they could pirate the latest music and movies. These people need to get over themselves. They seem to have a severe case of paranoia.
- diggduggjoe, on 11/21/2007, -1/+8Yeah.....Right....... If, people could get past the "need" for music and DVDs we could stop this crap in a day. Just stop buying music and movies. You are the consumer, demand better.
"But..but..but, we will need to stand up for ourselves!"
Aside from water, food, clothes and shelter, most ***** we could choose not to buy, if we do not like the terms. Most people never bother and continue to fund the very organizations they complain about the most. - syroncoda, on 11/21/2007, -0/+7uh.... our tax money is paying a private organization to attack students who like to listen to music..... nope i can't really explain this one.
- SuperCow1127, on 11/21/2007, -1/+8"Man" can be a gender neutral second person pronoun in colloquial American English; similar to "dude."
- triont, on 11/21/2007, -3/+9Chill out with the caps, it's annoying!
- acceptab1euname, on 11/21/2007, -2/+8If their products suck so badly as to not be worth buying, why on earth are they worth taking without paying for them?
- djAnakin, on 11/21/2007, -1/+7"used primarily to allow college students to traffic in infringing content,"
What an *****. - ChaosMotor, on 11/21/2007, -0/+6Just who do you think owns the media companies that the common public depends on to hear about things like this? And what other properties do the media companies own that would be advantaged by no one realizing that the copyright date keeps magically advancing whenever Mickey Mouse (for example) comes into play? Perhaps it's because the media we depend on to discover distant information is the same media who owns the... dun dun dunnn... other media whose property rights are in dispute.
- inactive, on 11/21/2007, -1/+7I think he means "That god I am in Canada". It's the contraction that was throwing us off.
Damn. Canadian God. Who'da thunk it? - seanthebond, on 11/21/2007, -7/+12That god I'm in Canada
- projectstartrek, on 11/21/2007, -0/+5Yeah, everyone knows the internet is for porn!
- Derrekito, on 11/21/2007, -1/+6That god! Hello, can you not read? :p
- Rbstr, on 11/21/2007, -4/+8Sorry, I accidentally dug you down man.
- ejwhyne, on 11/21/2007, -2/+6It's amazing how that over the years this topic has received little to no coverage on television news. Intellectual property rights have been one of the biggest and most important battles in modern times, and it's been largely ignored.
- cherwilco, on 11/21/2007, -0/+4yeah I use mine for porn waaaay more than for infringing content!
- jav1231, on 11/21/2007, -0/+4There are plenty other reasons to cut a university's funding (like abridging free speech of its students and things like the University of Delaware asking its students to accept that all whites are racists) this, however, isn't one of them. Since when should a business entity have any jurisdiction into the public education system? The **AA is desperate to keep this failing business model alive. Guys, its done. Let it go! Adapt or die yourselves. That's the market!
