- yournamehere, on 04/13/2008, -2/+20because these are being designed for regular people .. assistants, if you will. Regular people have easier times interacting with something the more 'human' characteristics it possesses.
- linksus, on 04/13/2008, -1/+16LOL well at least you will be able to see when it gets pissed off at you.
On second thoughts.. WHY THE FCUK have they made a robot that can get mad? - Derelict267, on 04/13/2008, -0/+14So that you can have a robot girlfriend.
- lickmyback, on 04/13/2008, -7/+20Why are people so concerned with making robots look and act like humans? To me this seems highly inefficent - robots should be purposefully designed to perform certain groups of tasks and optimised as such. The only possible purpose 'eyelids' could have on a robot is to aid in communication with humans, and until robots are smart enough to think communicate by themselves they should be considered a waste of research funding. Us humans always try to anthropomorphise stuff like we're the ideal, I think it's ridiculous.

- searcade, on 04/13/2008, -1/+11Why shouldnt they be?
- Smills, on 04/13/2008, -0/+10They don't like it if you demand that they work 24 hours a day, 7 days a week with no breaks. For some reason...
- hugepedlar, on 04/13/2008, -0/+8half a dozen emotions displayed and they all look 'wistful'.
- MechBear, on 04/13/2008, -3/+11One word: Saw
*shudders* - fhernand, on 04/13/2008, -0/+7"..and I will be happy and sad at the same time as I crush your squishy skull"
... - GeorgeStone2, on 04/13/2008, -1/+8If I ever see the mad face on my robot, I'm breaking out the shotgun.
- Typhoon2009, on 04/13/2008, -1/+8*****. This is it guys. We have reached the singularity. The machines are awakened. PREPARE FOR WAR.
- Aines, on 04/13/2008, -0/+6The Japanese have had a similar robot for a while, but this is kind of cute, their was creepy.
- bjarkebech, on 04/13/2008, -0/+5Buy it, use it, break it, fix it,
Trash it, change it, (Mail) - upgrade it,
Charge it, (Point) it, zoom it, press it,
Snap it, work it, quick - erase it, - thinkart, on 04/13/2008, -1/+6throw a black wig on this guy and you've got an emo kid.
- wacomwacoff, on 04/13/2008, -1/+5A robot with a face that shows emotions? I remember seeing plenty of those at Walt Disney World... twenty years ago. A robot with eyebrows and eyelids that can be programmed to convey 'emotions' is nothing remotely new.

- inactive, on 04/13/2008, -0/+2Its so depressing that in this age of technical achievement that we create such absurd ideas. This is novelty, nothing more.
Why do our tech tools/appliances of the future need to come with "facial expressions"? Are we making friends with the dishwasher?
Comon, give me a break, are we that disconnected and delusional?
