- valis, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I want one. They not only show pictures, but provide a link to information including theory and schematics.
Dugg. - roostersheep, on 01/16/2009, -0/+1Nice one! I want a floating light bulb!
- wthulhu, on 08/29/2009, -0/+1that's pretty cool. i'd like to see it in person though.
- Urusai, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3Not so impressive. There's a huge levitating self-powered light source hanging in the sky as I type, and it didn't take any MIT nerds to make.
- Splendor, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I can digg it.
- hax0r, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1one day everything will be tesla powered and levitating... cars, etc...
- au071, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1And wireless powering is not that new, electrical tooth brush got powered from the base without wires...
- Drumrboy247, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1this would be really coolto have in your house... levitating glass bulb lights... untill you have a power outage and all of your lights come crashing down.
;) - battybattybatt, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0The dudes aobviaously an MIT student, so I believe it!
But even they have their problems:

Missing pix, dead links, oh well. - alterself, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0very cool
- listrophy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0whoa. imagine using these in your house. take away the ugly screw part of the bulb and make it all glass. place them under/over the fixture... floating hallway lights.
actually, now that i think of it, that sounds kinda creepy. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Can we stop putting leftover Engadget and Gizmodo stories on the front pages?
Like no one here visits those sites.
At least put a little more effort into it rather than taking one of their stories from earlier in the day. - MOGua, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0very talented.
- caleberx, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0That is so sweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeet
kit - LiquidPenguin, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I've thought about doing something like this last year. I've was searching for a new lamp and I really hate how all of them have these really beautiful base and pole, but then somehow the designers forget the damn wires. It's like a last minute thought for a lot of them, you've got this nice curving stand and about a foot below the lightbulb, there's this ugly ass wire coming out of a hole cut in the side and working it's way up to the lightbulb.
The only problem I couldn't get around, is that a few LED's have no where near the same amount of light as your standard 40watt. - kamizu, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0cool beans
- irfaan, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0"No video no digg"

Anyone care to enlighten me as to why people bother to post such insignificant remarks? Alright, fine - no video. Don't post! However, if you had something constructive to say about the information itself, or perhaps have pertinent information to share (positive or negative), then by all means. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Drumrboy247 yup thats true, maybe back up system....but the picture should use a lighter background to clearly show that its not a lil trick
- officerdoofy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0hax0r, i completely agree.rnrnau701, of course its not new... Tesla was doing this in the late 1800's. rnrnWho cares if its not new technology. Its a combination of old tech to make something truly cool.
- Vladek, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Although I can appreciate the clever way in which it was designed, I think the effect is lost on the layman. They probably think the power is coming from a watch battery hidden in the bulb, if they were asked how the thing worked.
- kimish, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0"No video no digg"
such a baby.... :-) digg - novideonodigg, on 10/12/2007, -4/+0No video no digg
