- clos, on 10/12/2007, -4/+51you ***** fanboy - leo is one of the main reasons why podcasting is where it is now
- SlashNot, on 10/12/2007, -4/+42wow u are a tubesteak. I love diggnation but leo's podcast are actually informative and productive. Systm hasnt been updated in forever so u cant say that ***** is better. Get your lips off of kevin's ass please
- Morphinity, on 10/12/2007, -2/+39He deserves it. He's probably the hardest working podcaster out there.
- madjo, on 10/12/2007, -5/+40congrats Leo!
- Klisk, on 10/12/2007, -4/+28I think there's a lot of fans who disagree rather aggressively with a lot of the things Leo says. Afterall, he doesn't advocate the hotrodded boombastic systems that everyone usually lusts over.
On the other hand, he's such a great personality that you feel like he's your friend. That's his secret. He's just cool like that. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+24Well deserved too, he's awesome. I find it hard to listen to any of the TWiT network podcasts when he's not the host
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+21Well it was going to be This Week About Tech at first, so there
- tsupersonic, on 10/12/2007, -2/+21Congratulations Leo.
Leo definetly deserves this award, he does a great job with Twit and the other podcasts. Keep up the good work Leo. - Klisk, on 10/12/2007, -2/+20Um.
They give realistic, and accurate advice.
The problem with that is the fact that all the trendy kids, like yourself, can't agree with modest, solid advice. You want the extravagance. - bigredgpk, on 10/12/2007, -3/+21Another award show is in the can... way to go Leo!
- Humptydank, on 10/12/2007, -6/+24
I love Leo, but I cannot for the life of me think of a less prestigious award. - felchdonkey, on 10/12/2007, -4/+21Not only is Leo a great force in podcasting, he seems like one of the nicest people in the industry. His shows always put me in a good mood.
- FrankHowley, on 10/12/2007, -6/+20Leo Laporte is awesome
- temporal, on 10/12/2007, -3/+17can you give an example of bad advice? I listen to a lot of twit network stuff and it seems pretty accurate
- fallenone05, on 10/12/2007, -3/+17Leo deserves that *****. I don't know how he manages to do all those podcasts, the radio show, the tv show, and stil spend time with his wife and kids.
- dandiemer, on 10/12/2007, -1/+13They mean NetCast...right?
- diggAddict, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8I'll buy that for a dollar!
Well done Leo, and the TWIT TV network - podcasting is here to stay and a force to be reckoned with! - MacBandit, on 10/12/2007, -3/+10Congrats Leo definitely favorite TV/Podcast personality.
- fallenone05, on 10/12/2007, -4/+11that's the same guy! don't you just love em'? :) He is the man!
on another note, you expect him to do podcasts and not gain any revenue forever??
Silly wabbit - griz, on 10/12/2007, -2/+8@9tailfox
Don't you mean a cranky geek? - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -7/+13Congrats, Leo!
Enjoy your fame now, before Apple insists on the removal of the word Podcasting from your award. ^_^ - griz, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5The "lastest" one??
- bobby9201, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6I like Diggnation too, but Kevin and Alex get too wasted to really give good advice and make good show. It' s funny, but it's nice to hear the latest tech news without having drunk comments between.
- antiintel, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Actually, the first few episodes were "Revenge of the Screen Savers", not "This Week in Tech". Does anyone know what ever happened to the Box of Crap?
- d00d, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Probably the most impressive thing about Leo is the way he did a total about face on advertising (and his fans applauded him for both conflicting policies). That's not to say I'm not a big fan. I am. That's also not to say that he shouldn't advertise or get paid. He deserves to get paid big for his work.
Rather, I'm trying to point out how foolish the original stance was. I remember thinking at the time that he wouldn't be able to maintain it. - fatnutz, on 10/12/2007, -2/+6Ok? Well if his show is OK, then nearly every other podcast is absolute *****..At least he has a voice for radio...His show is leaps and bounds above 99% of other podcasts. ...The show is good, they keep it relatively light, humourous, and just a good time killer.
- ohmar, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5I hope to god that your comment was sarcasm.
Also, congrats to Leo, he has done a great job of moderating the show, keeping it interesting, and making podcasting what it is - TheThing, on 10/12/2007, -6/+9Good for him. He deserves it.
- pixelminer, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2This award should be renamed "Person of the Year in NETCASTING". :D
- RawGamer, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3He's the only reason I pay for G4TV. His show alone is certainly worth a couple of bucks per month.
- d00d, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1So instead, he takes Dell on as a sponsor and won't stop talking them up. He doesn't even hide it. Heck, one of the stories on Twit recently was a new Dell model. *yawn* Dell comes out with a new model every other day. It's not newsworthy.
He went from trying to be independent to acting like a schill. Maybe schill is a bit over the top, but there was a marked change in behavior before and after he took Dell on as a sponsor. - mementh, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Patrick still has it.. it was brought up a while back.. it now has 2-3 brother boxes o crap :)
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Ah, I see he's already gotten a jump on that. He's proposed "netcasts" as a replacement for "podcasts".
- yevkasem, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1they have yet to make an accurate comment on the new core 2. they describe it with incorrect fsb, memory speeds, and architecture, among other things. not only that, but you can tell when they don't know something and someone just makes something up that sounds good and then they switch topics.
good broadcasting? yep. decent tech? yea. great tech? no. - StephenChow, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3You're born, you take *****. You get out in the world, you take more *****. You climb a little higher, you take less *****. Till one day you're up in the rarefied atmosphere and you've forgotten what ***** even looks like. Welcome to the layer cake son.
- crawdad62, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2I don't even remember how I came across TWit but I found it non the less. What a great resource. A great podcast and honestly it wouldn't be that without Leo. I've watched Leo since the old days of "The Screen Savers" and have always thought a lot of him and missed seeing him and Patrick once G4 came on and basically shot itself in the foot.
I now subscribe to a bunch of his podcast and look forward to new ones each week. Congrats Leo! It's well deserved. Keep it up! - Glynne, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3Fanboyism so think you can cut it with a knife.
Kool-aid will be served at 4pm by Leo. Drink up!
For claims of inaccuracy, try listening to Security Now for starters.
Yeah, I listen to SOME of Leo's shows. Only because there are no other options. Leo's ego gets on my nerves. Perhaps in broadcasting you have to be a bit full of yourself. - maxsunset, on 10/12/2007, -9/+10WayToGo LEO!!
- mjpatey, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Leo LaPorte deserves any recognition he gets. He may not be *the* most tech-savvy guy in the industry, but he makes up for that with his cohorts and guests. His strength is that he's a top-notch broadcaster, and knows how to get the job done, with class, on and off mic/camera.
- jasorn, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Yeah, netcast :)
Even though most of the stuff I've seen from Leo has been a little light in the tech area, I've always like Leo and the folks I've seen him work with. I heard him on radio a long time ago, and some TV shows. - SniperXPX, on 10/12/2007, -7/+7Good job Leo.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Congrats to Leo, that guy puts his soul into his work. Good *****!!!
- kuyakew, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2i remember how i came across twit. one day i was like "wtf is a podcast" so i looked on iTunes and twit was #1. instantly feel in love with twit, even though i didnt have that much interest in tech before. thanks to leo i became more tech savvy, apple rumor site troll, and... most importantly, devoted digger.
congrats leo!
dvorak.org/blog - ramsinks.com, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2Was that you that.... .o wait, nobody knows you..
- mv10, on 10/12/2007, -14/+14"Podcast & Portable Media Expo committee"
What a sad group of individuals..
but seriously Congrats Leo. Bring Back TechTV - myborgdrone, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1d00d:
You have to give the man props for trying to stay independent. He was trying to do the right thing and not be pressured (or appear to be pressured) by advertisers to endorse something he doesn't believe it. More people should have such convictions. - Spectrum7331, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1Leo is le pwn.
That is basically all I have to say. :D - Dhalgren, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1The problem with both names (podcast and netcast) is that the show is not a "cast." To me, a "cast" denotes delivery of information with no control from the receiver. A tv show is a broadcast, but as soon as you record it on your DVR it is no longer a broadcast. So, what is a "podcast"? It is an audio file that is automatically downloaded via an rss feed. If you change the name, you might as well reflect this. Potential names:
webshow
netshow
e-radio
webgram
netgram
awesome
feedgram - JoJoDilio, on 10/12/2007, -6/+5Congrats Leo!
- ryanmeadows, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1He deserves it, there is no one else that comes close to it.
