- madjo, on 10/12/2007, -5/+40congrats Leo!
- royall64, on 10/12/2007, -34/+10Now before we all celebrate, listen to the first episode of TWiT. Then liisten to the lastest one. Then, if you want, you can celebrate.
- griz, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5The "lastest" one??
- antiintel, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Actually, the first few episodes were "Revenge of the Screen Savers", not "This Week in Tech". Does anyone know what ever happened to the Box of Crap?
- mementh, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Patrick still has it.. it was brought up a while back.. it now has 2-3 brother boxes o crap :)
- jasorn, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Yeah, netcast :)
Even though most of the stuff I've seen from Leo has been a little light in the tech area, I've always like Leo and the folks I've seen him work with. I heard him on radio a long time ago, and some TV shows.
- maxsunset, on 10/12/2007, -9/+10WayToGo LEO!!
- TyrannousDotNet, on 10/12/2007, -60/+7god i hate that man...
- MacBandit, on 10/12/2007, -3/+10Congrats Leo definitely favorite TV/Podcast personality.
- ronmexico, on 10/12/2007, -5/+2I agree TyrannousDotNet, he's a major candy ass. He needs to grow some balls the way he lets Dvorak run the show.
- bitrich, on 10/12/2007, -1/+24Well deserved too, he's awesome. I find it hard to listen to any of the TWiT network podcasts when he's not the host
- tsupersonic, on 10/12/2007, -2/+21Congratulations Leo.
Leo definetly deserves this award, he does a great job with Twit and the other podcasts. Keep up the good work Leo. - SniperXPX, on 10/12/2007, -7/+7Good job Leo.
- bigredgpk, on 10/12/2007, -3/+21Another award show is in the can... way to go Leo!
- idean360, on 10/12/2007, -97/+4shoulda been Kevin, his couple episodes of systm and all his diggnation podcasts are 100x better, and funnier then Leo "Lackluster" Leporte's 50 once a month, money grab podcasts...
- clos, on 10/12/2007, -4/+51you ***** fanboy - leo is one of the main reasons why podcasting is where it is now
- SlashNot, on 10/12/2007, -4/+42wow u are a tubesteak. I love diggnation but leo's podcast are actually informative and productive. Systm hasnt been updated in forever so u cant say that ***** is better. Get your lips off of kevin's ass please
- waverider1899, on 10/12/2007, -10/+6Wooo... Clos and Slashnot really let loose on idean360 above.
I liked Clos' use of f-word alliteration combined with the word "fanboy". The double use of the f sound really resonates, and has rhythm, giving it that extra punch. Nicely done Clos!
I give both Clos and Slashnot a thumbs up dig, and one thumbs down for idean (Sorry idean -- have to disagree with you this time -- besides I like Leo Laporte!)
Leo's the kind of tech-guy all the employees at any company would love to have around, and everyone would invite him to all the parties... and tell him about all the office gossip... that sort of thing...
I just realized something "Laporte" is French, and means "The Door". - bobby9201, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6I like Diggnation too, but Kevin and Alex get too wasted to really give good advice and make good show. It' s funny, but it's nice to hear the latest tech news without having drunk comments between.
- Jack9, on 10/12/2007, -34/+11He's opinionated and accurate in many cases. Some cases, he gives plain bad advice. I'm not sure he's the best choice for Podcaster of the Year, but certainly best technical podcaster of the year...most every year :-)
- Klisk, on 10/12/2007, -4/+28I think there's a lot of fans who disagree rather aggressively with a lot of the things Leo says. Afterall, he doesn't advocate the hotrodded boombastic systems that everyone usually lusts over.
On the other hand, he's such a great personality that you feel like he's your friend. That's his secret. He's just cool like that.
- Klisk, on 10/12/2007, -4/+28I think there's a lot of fans who disagree rather aggressively with a lot of the things Leo says. Afterall, he doesn't advocate the hotrodded boombastic systems that everyone usually lusts over.
- Humptydank, on 10/12/2007, -6/+24
I love Leo, but I cannot for the life of me think of a less prestigious award.- quickjack, on 10/12/2007, -19/+2The acronym "twit" doesn't help.
- NoMatter, on 10/12/2007, -2/+21Well it was going to be This Week About Tech at first, so there
- yevkasem, on 10/12/2007, -44/+5has anyone else noticed that considering it's called "this week in TECH", they give really bad tech advice, and a lot of the time they simply get things wrong? for the general public listening to these things, people who don't get any other tech news except twit, leo is responsible for creating misinformed individuals who stubbornly refuse to admit defeat.
other than recommending hdtv's their tech knowledge sucks, honestly.- Klisk, on 10/12/2007, -2/+20Um.
They give realistic, and accurate advice.
The problem with that is the fact that all the trendy kids, like yourself, can't agree with modest, solid advice. You want the extravagance. - temporal, on 10/12/2007, -3/+17can you give an example of bad advice? I listen to a lot of twit network stuff and it seems pretty accurate
- yevkasem, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1they have yet to make an accurate comment on the new core 2. they describe it with incorrect fsb, memory speeds, and architecture, among other things. not only that, but you can tell when they don't know something and someone just makes something up that sounds good and then they switch topics.
good broadcasting? yep. decent tech? yea. great tech? no.
- Klisk, on 10/12/2007, -2/+20Um.
- sarcoma, on 10/12/2007, -7/+5who else could it be... side note: we need a new FLOSS "Weekly"
- Morphinity, on 10/12/2007, -2/+39He deserves it. He's probably the hardest working podcaster out there.
- NewChar, on 10/12/2007, -13/+2Congrats to LL for winning PotYiP for his work on TWiT.
- rockontop, on 10/12/2007, -13/+2OMGWTFBBQ
- Justin6512, on 10/12/2007, -18/+11YAY FOR LEO, I HAVE HIS AUTOGRAPH, I FEEL SPECIAL
whoops Caps
I listen to twit every week, its an awesome show. I also watch Call For Help here in Canada. That's a good show too.
keep up the awesome work leo! - NinjAlt, on 10/12/2007, -25/+3I'm not a fan of Leo so I cant congratulate the guy.
- NinjAlt, on 10/12/2007, -11/+2Wait, I got dugg down for just not being a fan? What a bunch of assholes you are.
- TheThing, on 10/12/2007, -6/+9Good for him. He deserves it.
- FrankHowley, on 10/12/2007, -6/+20Leo Laporte is awesome
- 9tailfox, on 10/12/2007, -36/+3Leo Laporte is GAY.
- fatnutz, on 10/12/2007, -10/+1You'd know *****-gobbler.
- joesoko, on 10/12/2007, -13/+2Yes ! and Yes
- dmann, on 10/12/2007, -26/+2Leo's show is great. But is he really "person of the year"? Shouldnt that be someone who actually grew the artform and changed it, something like that?
my vote goes for me. My 50 listeners are way cooler than Leo's 500,000 or whatever
dorkdejour.blogspot.com- ohmar, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5I hope to god that your comment was sarcasm.
Also, congrats to Leo, he has done a great job of moderating the show, keeping it interesting, and making podcasting what it is
- ohmar, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5I hope to god that your comment was sarcasm.
- felchdonkey, on 10/12/2007, -4/+21Not only is Leo a great force in podcasting, he seems like one of the nicest people in the industry. His shows always put me in a good mood.
- PrometheuZ, on 10/12/2007, -18/+3What a bunch of kiss asses, lol Leo is an ok guy with just 'ok' podcasts and shows.
- fatnutz, on 10/12/2007, -2/+6Ok? Well if his show is OK, then nearly every other podcast is absolute *****..At least he has a voice for radio...His show is leaps and bounds above 99% of other podcasts. ...The show is good, they keep it relatively light, humourous, and just a good time killer.
- nikoniko, on 10/12/2007, -7/+13Congrats, Leo!
Enjoy your fame now, before Apple insists on the removal of the word Podcasting from your award. ^_^- nikoniko, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Ah, I see he's already gotten a jump on that. He's proposed "netcasts" as a replacement for "podcasts".
- Eric, on 10/12/2007, -14/+2Do they make up a new award 6 months?
- smotheredinhugs, on 10/12/2007, -13/+2Karl Dilkington FTW!
- 9tailfox, on 10/12/2007, -15/+1TWIT? - BAHHHH!! - WWW.VOBES.COM
- et_nyc, on 10/12/2007, -12/+0What the heck is the Podcast & Portable Media Expo committee? Sounds impressive!
- fallenone05, on 10/12/2007, -3/+17Leo deserves that *****. I don't know how he manages to do all those podcasts, the radio show, the tv show, and stil spend time with his wife and kids.
- wisewaif, on 10/12/2007, -18/+4Um, was that the same Leo Laporte who wrongfully trashed Feedburner, censored negative posts on the Twit comment section, whined when people thought that a half an hour of Woz's colored lasers was unlistenable, and sold his soul to Visa?
I have to admit, though. This Week in Media is great. Cheers for that.- fallenone05, on 10/12/2007, -4/+11that's the same guy! don't you just love em'? :) He is the man!
on another note, you expect him to do podcasts and not gain any revenue forever??
Silly wabbit - StephenChow, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3You're born, you take *****. You get out in the world, you take more *****. You climb a little higher, you take less *****. Till one day you're up in the rarefied atmosphere and you've forgotten what ***** even looks like. Welcome to the layer cake son.
- ramsinks.com, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2Was that you that.... .o wait, nobody knows you..
- fallenone05, on 10/12/2007, -4/+11that's the same guy! don't you just love em'? :) He is the man!
- 9tailfox, on 10/12/2007, -18/+1Leo Laporte Is Boy Lover. - WWW.NobodyLikesOnions.Com - PATRICK FOR PRESIDENT.
- flak9, on 10/12/2007, -8/+2i wonder if he gets a free nights stay at the ontario marriott in addition to the award?
- CIrdan, on 10/12/2007, -7/+6Way to go Leo! you were the most entertaining person on Tech TV Hell you were Tech TV and TWIT is awesome so are the rest of your podcast, I wonder if diggnation will ever be up for the award. Where else can you see a pair of good friends drink and try to report the news?
- JoJoDilio, on 10/12/2007, -6/+5Congrats Leo!
- 9tailfox, on 10/12/2007, -25/+1MIKE D RULES - WWW.REDBARADIO.COM - LEO is a dog molester.

- fatnutz, on 10/12/2007, -3/+2***** Mike D.
- ryanst24, on 10/12/2007, -6/+5so yevkasem
I think the class is still waiting for an example of the "bad advice' that the twit gang give out.... - StellarlyAstral, on 10/12/2007, -12/+3I still think Keith and the Girl is the best podcast and diggNation is the best tech podcast. Leo is a TWiT (get it).
- konflikt, on 10/12/2007, -7/+6Look at these fools. Clownin' Leo to get a plug on Digg. Losers.
Anyway, good job, Leo. I throw on the TWiT podcast at work(in a computer lab), and off I go. It makes getting through the day MUCH easier. Can't help but laugh all the time. But seriously, Dvorak is the other half of the show. You take away Dvorak, you take away TWiT. That old f**ker is funny as hell. Always talkin' s**t. But it's funny. And "Nick" too. Patrick, can't forget about Patrick(dl.tv is tight). All in all, keep these fools on the show, and don't go anywhere Leo. The Screen Savers was a tight ass show, then TechTV got cut off. Now here comes Leo with TWiT. And that was a good move. When I get some skrill, I'll shoot a donation that way. F***kin' awesome.- Oates, on 10/12/2007, -3/+2what does that even mean?
- taxicab, on 10/12/2007, -3/+2Congrats Leo!
- trancient, on 10/12/2007, -3/+2Good man, great podcast, and a leader in the field.
Well done Leo, keep it going. - brianbennett, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1I'm surprised there even such an award... but if anyone deserves it, it's Mr. Laporte
- cduquette, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1Go Leo. I wish you the best of luck. I'm glad to see Visa and Dell are supporting the twit network and wish you the best of luck. It'd be awesome to see the network make the jump to IPTV if there's enough money out there.
- lgc90, on 10/12/2007, -3/+2I miss TechTV.
- Giggy, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1Congratulations Leo! Honestly, I don't care if the Screen Savers come back on TV. Just being able to listen to a similar show on the go works wonders.
- darkamster07, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1His voice is so...captivating. that opening line: "this, is twit, this week in tech" somehow calms me. but thanks to all they guys at twit, I am always kept on my feet:
"DVORAK.ORG/BLOG!!!" congrats Leo, I listen every week. - Spectrum7331, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1Leo is le pwn.
That is basically all I have to say. :D - RawGamer, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3He's the only reason I pay for G4TV. His show alone is certainly worth a couple of bucks per month.
- d00d, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Probably the most impressive thing about Leo is the way he did a total about face on advertising (and his fans applauded him for both conflicting policies). That's not to say I'm not a big fan. I am. That's also not to say that he shouldn't advertise or get paid. He deserves to get paid big for his work.
Rather, I'm trying to point out how foolish the original stance was. I remember thinking at the time that he wouldn't be able to maintain it.- myborgdrone, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1d00d:
You have to give the man props for trying to stay independent. He was trying to do the right thing and not be pressured (or appear to be pressured) by advertisers to endorse something he doesn't believe it. More people should have such convictions. - d00d, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1So instead, he takes Dell on as a sponsor and won't stop talking them up. He doesn't even hide it. Heck, one of the stories on Twit recently was a new Dell model. *yawn* Dell comes out with a new model every other day. It's not newsworthy.
He went from trying to be independent to acting like a schill. Maybe schill is a bit over the top, but there was a marked change in behavior before and after he took Dell on as a sponsor.
- myborgdrone, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1d00d:
- DaltonAmes, on 10/12/2007, -4/+1Leo is awesome!
- ryanmeadows, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1He deserves it, there is no one else that comes close to it.
