- mghwom1, on 02/16/2008, -30/+281Looks awful.
- Sil369, on 02/16/2008, -8/+242Imo, any diggers who register there to post should go by a name like username{digg}
- talonstriker, on 02/16/2008, -13/+225Knowing yahoo's user base, it'll be filled with ignorant morons who can't use spellcheck.
- mcduck, on 02/16/2008, -5/+141You mean, just like Digg?
- sgtcaboose, on 02/16/2008, -10/+113This is going to fail. Digg and *gulp* Reddit have already stolen most of the internet. This strikes me as a last ditch effort on Yahoo's behalf to get back into the game.
And here is a link to it:
http://alpha.buzz.yahoo.com
Looks like theyve locked it down now. - guybrush, on 02/16/2008, -1/+99Oh crap buzz me down please
- inactive, on 02/16/2008, -5/+87I like how when it's an ipod, iphone, mac it's always a "killer" ....but for digg it's just a 'clone'
- Sil369, on 02/16/2008, -8/+85WAHT R UZ TAKLING ABOOT
- wombatlad, on 02/16/2008, -4/+75Buzz it?
Seriously?
That's the best a room full of actual human beings could do? - bluetytanium, on 02/16/2008, -1/+72Get a brain, morans.
- scheibs14, on 02/16/2008, -0/+67Quick, I need to register MrBabyMan{digg}
- MrARPA, on 02/16/2008, -0/+65You must be new around here ...
- MacEnvy, on 02/16/2008, -2/+65Begun, the Clone Wars have.
- fkr3, on 02/16/2008, -8/+68Digg and Reddit are nothing compared to Yahoo.... Yahoo and their many popular sites pretty much own the internet. Buzz looks good, and digg and reddit are increasingly sucking at dealing with being gamed. Especially digg.... they suck at commenting, they suck at fixing errors, they suck at making this site anything more than a pedestal for vocal minorities to tell each other how much they matter, they even out the playing field and the top losers complain and a week later 1/3 to 1/2 the popular and upcoming stories are magically once again tired old ***** re-submitted by the top losers again.
There is plenty of room for competition and for things to be done better, and Yahoo's got the experience and users to make a solid go of it. - ziptnf, on 02/16/2008, -0/+57I second this notion.
- hello2usir, on 02/16/2008, -0/+55But are you prepared to abandon your health and livelihood and commit to submitting stories every two seconds for 16 hours straight?
- IronPwnage, on 02/16/2008, -6/+61Looks almost identical to Digg, but with a blue theme
- KrayzieKyd, on 02/16/2008, -4/+53I can buzz it.
- rasterbator, on 02/16/2008, -2/+49Leaked screenshots = Yahoo! Marketing = Try to jack up stock price = Increase MS offer/Murdock offer
- Awspire, on 02/16/2008, -2/+48"Looks awful."
Actually it looks fairly solid to me, though I predict that will be the MySpace of user submitted articles. I find it funny how the screen shots show a quite diverse list of popular discussions, when in reality the top 10 will most likely be, Hilton gossip, Britney gossip, rap news, Hilton gossip, rap news, Brittney gossip, hip hop news, rap news, rap news, hip hop news. - mcduck, on 02/16/2008, -0/+42third!
- Giga, on 02/16/2008, -1/+40Funny, either my eyes are lying to me or Digg happens to be themed in blue as well...
- HeDiggMe, on 02/16/2008, -1/+39Yahoo is always late to the party with original ideas--yahoo video after youtube, OMG after TMZ, now this. I bet next year they start a site where anyone can sell their junk with an online auction.
- TheAmbushAhead, on 02/16/2008, -0/+37They had forums?
- ericdano, on 02/16/2008, -18/+51Hopefully it won't be as lame as Digg has become.........
- fkr3, on 02/16/2008, -2/+34Digg's hardly the apex of intellectual stories or discussion on the internet.... 1/2 the ***** *is* from youtube, and most of what's left is weblogs inc and gawker media cashing in on someone else's work, ars technica jumping on another bandwagon and torrentfreak telling people how they're changing humanity for the better when they pirate the latest movie they want to see.
I don't see how Yahoo could do any worse... I suspect with 100 submitters they'll at least get more variety than digg 'enjoys'. - fkr3, on 02/16/2008, -5/+36And how is that different from digg?
- quomen, on 02/16/2008, -1/+30I can't wait until Buzznation comes out.
- Jeffler, on 02/16/2008, -0/+28You mean Yahoo! Auctions?
- SierraAlpha, on 02/16/2008, -2/+29I don't see what Canadians have to do with this.
- KingHarvest00, on 02/16/2008, -2/+27At least "digg it" makes some sort of logical sense. "Buzz it" sounds like something I'd tell my girlfriend to do.
- inactive, on 02/16/2008, -3/+27Ahhhh so this is why they took down their forums years ago and never bothered to put them back up.
- nonrate, on 02/16/2008, -9/+33There's no elegant way to say this: that's gay. It's one of the gayest rip-offs I've seen, well, since before you were born. Yahoo used to be a pioneer. Now you know a bunch of know-nothing PHD's, who think they're the smartest ***** in the world but can't fabricate an original thought to save their ego, who were hired with big time salaries by equally narrow minded fools, put this vividly obvious clone of digg.com within their own flailing internet model, which hasn't produced an original innovative web technology since web indexing in 1996.. Digg isn't great, it pisses me off sometimes, but it's original. "Buzz it", lol
- DietMountainDew, on 02/16/2008, -2/+26It'll be just like Netscape.
- Sil369, on 02/16/2008, -2/+24no, no u cant
- SSYe, on 02/16/2008, -0/+22It is not yet confirmed whether they were actual human beings...
- BodomX, on 02/16/2008, -0/+21I would "Tap That".
Better in my opinion. - inactive, on 02/16/2008, -1/+22oh god, message board clans...
- inactive, on 02/16/2008, -1/+20Mostly retarded celeb-obsessors
- Audacitor, on 02/16/2008, -4/+22I agree. Buzz won't take long to overcome Digg as far as user base size is concerned. However, no matter how many new innovations they add, they won't get me to join, and for one good reason. Buzz will be as much of an intellectual wreck as Answers. The signal to noise ratio will be abysmal. It'll be Youtubish.
Sorry Y!, but I've no wish to share the same Intertubes with a bunch of clueless high school girls. - EmitStop, on 02/16/2008, -2/+20This means war!
- AndrewDB, on 02/16/2008, -0/+17Your assumption is probably spot on.
Which is exactly why it's awful. - hello2usir, on 02/16/2008, -0/+17Rampant idiocy pervades the entire internet (the entire world for that matter). It's not exclusive to any one area.
- inactive, on 02/16/2008, -20/+36good...maybe the Ptards will go over there....
- misterhat, on 02/16/2008, -1/+16have you seen diggs most successful competitor? they don't have a lot of flashy eye candy.
- SillyRabbits, on 02/16/2008, -3/+18Hell, if that site will keep me logged in, I'll happily use it...
- TheVigilante, on 02/16/2008, -8/+22Buzz is an awful name.
- MagnumVP, on 02/16/2008, -4/+18Just linking to 'Buzz' brings it closer to becoming popular, especially if this makes the front page.
