- longman2g, on 10/12/2007, -2/+9because microsoft is evil; some palm products have windows mobile on them, which in turn makes them evil as well...
But ya, Treos are really cool and do more than blackberries. I don't know, but maybe they are cheaper, or have been around longer so people are used to them. I know I'm going to buy one when I get a real job. - hanslope, on 10/12/2007, -2/+7Treo's lack the magic, you may get the feeling of living life on the edge (of the next freeze), but you don't get the feeling of effortlessness magic from a Treo
- jesusphreak, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5"The much anticipated Blackberry 7130c has made a unofficial appearance on the internet. The photos of the unreleased Blackberry 7130c have been leaked on the internet."
Isn't the description a bit redundant? I believe the description is somewhat redundant. (I'm kidding around with how I wrote it, but its true nonetheless.) - GetInLine1, on 10/12/2007, -10/+14What in the ***** are you talking about?
- putnam, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3The description of the article repeats itself, making me read the same sentence twice. I read the same sentence twice when I read the description of the article.
- duke_nate, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4wouldnt the new keyboard be a complete pain in the ass to use?
- sldSquirrel, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Looks nice, less fat.
- mikev, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3SUCH a improvement....do I see *gasp* modernization to it?!
- betasp, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3We are a mixed Treo and Crackberry shop. We have many more issues with the Treo. Cingular is starting to hate me. I swap out about 1-2 a month (usually bluetooth related).
- nsengalv, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I think this will be a great addition to the "life" (as in non-business oriented) series of blackberry devices.
Also, the Treo is not nearly as good as the blackberry for what it's meant to do - e-mail. Those looking for a real e-mail/IM/work phone that ALWAYS works, should really check out the blackberry. - fac3less, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Actually, yes.
This looks like the 'other' smaller model of the blackberry.
Pain in the ass.
7290 size is the way to go! - lfcfan, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Kind of looks like the Sony P series.
- Jonsey, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2CDMA doesn't always mean faster speeds. There is a new technology for GSM networks called EDGE, which will give you broadbandish speeds (Maybe about 130kbps) which in my mind is fast enough to do most anything on a cellphone. Include VOIP. I can't wait until skype has a Windows Mobile Edition version that supports voice. I happen to have unlimited data but a small amount of daytime airtime, so using VOIP would be awesome!
Also, based on my research CDMA is an older technology, it's going to eventually reach it's limits. Two out of three major carriers here in Canada still use it. Where as one of them uses GSM, but also still has limited support for TDMA and analog phones! - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2RIM is copying Sony Ericsson. Samsung also copied the P Series look with 1 of their MP3 players. Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery.
- cvrefugee, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Every time I hear the word "Blackberry" I envision some exec-type ass in a suit with some stupid Bluetooth headset on jabbering continuously about business ***** that nobody cares about.
- FlatLine, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2nice nice nice..looks sleek
- fac3less, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Also known as poorly written SEO
- disgruntled, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1why?
- cvrefugee, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Dude, CDMA is NOT the older technology. EDGE? Puuhlease! EV-DO blows EDGE out of the water my friend!
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1where is the resemblance?
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/TI-83 - maseone, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1true, the blackberry interface was designed for "one hand mobile on the go" use.
the treo was designed for "stop what you're doing, sit down, pull out your stylus and click on icons" use.
i suppose there is an advantage to either one, but for most people, the blackberry is designed for what it was purchased for. - kaber, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1sweet. a blackberry thread. I made s ite for my 8700 but nobody dug it on this site.
might as well post it in the comments.

the blackberries suck without any good media - CanuckMakem, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Looks nice, but I'll stick with my 7250
- KoZo, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2looks like SE P9***
- jaydee, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1this would be a far better bet if thats what you want
http://mobile.softpedia.com/phonePictures/1454 - Urusai, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1VoIP for your phone? You mean, you can finally use them to talk to people again? We'll be able to take a break from managing appointments, playing games, checking email, and taking upskirt photos to call tech support and complain about Bluetooth.
- Jaymoon, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Yep. Still looks like a Blackberry. Everything checks out. Move along.
- Mousse, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Who wrote the description? Mojo Jojo?
- stickittothemon, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2This things isnt as blackbarish as I thought it would be. It looks like a slicker version of the 8700t (no full keyboard).
And for everyone who isnt with blackberry's, I was the same way (didnt get them) but a month ago I got one and now I understand the craze. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1what the succesful people, i dont like people who have bb and get about 3 emails a day they are for the people who get 300 emails a day
- Matthewer, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Same way, went from a treo to a BB... used to say I would never switch, but now I probably wont go back.
- ben.0081, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3so much cooler.
- FlyingAvatar, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I always thought Blackberries were cool because they *didn't* look like phones. I truthfully don't see this as a good direction for them. There are already dozens of PDA phones. To me, it's not a "Blackberry" if it's just anther phone.
- Denver80203, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1What will be really interesting is the upcoming Blackberry Connect which is a software package you can load on Windows Mobile devices (I think Windows Mobile is the new name for what was CE). I'm not a huge fan of Windows mobile devices but, there are some applications that our company needs field employees to have. This will allow us to wrap those applications on a single device with Blackberry service.
Verizon has Cingular beat with Blackberry speed. Their current devices run on CDMA rather than GPRS/GSM signal. What does this mean? Means it's getting near DSL speed (512K). You can actually plug one into a laptop and use it as a cellular DSL modem. Very cool and works well. In a test, I was browsing the internet on a laptop in a car for 20 miles at DLS speeds. Trade off? Cingular has better coverage, especially since merging with AT&T wireless. However, if you're not out in the sticks, Verizon is the way to go. - Jonsey, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I just ordered the Audiovox SMT5600 since I've heard nothing but good things, and I got an awesome deal. What I liked about the SMT5600 (although not being a blackberry) was the fact that it has a phone form, unlike the prior bigger bulkier blackberries.
I might have to look into this one when it's out on the market. - enantiodromia, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I love my 7290. I have no idea why anyone would want a Blackberry without a nice wide QWERTY keyboard tho.
Can someone tell me what it is the Treo's can do that the Blackberries dont? No one ever mentions exactly what it is the 'berries are missing. - jamms, on 10/12/2007, -3/+3once you have learned predictive text.. no.
- andrebsd, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0130k is enough? You have got to be kidding me... I got my Treo 700w and I stream in Bloomberg video (sometimes the 128k audio stream), and even with EV-DO it has to buffer sometimes. 130k simply won't run the video at all, it's a 300k video stream. Also if I run any sort of streaming quotes, 130k is going to choke.
I used to have a 7100, went to the Treo... The BB simply wouldn't work well with any of the major stock brokers... So I (kind of) had to switch. Have to say e-mail was quicker on the BB; but I still don't really miss it. I'll take a few crashes for the ability to do my work from the beach. (Once RIM has a system that can play Bloomberg streaming video & get my quotes; then I'll see about going back.) - dededede, on 10/17/2007, -0/+0http://free-blackberry-applications.blogspot.com/
- acluster, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I think blackberry products are great, but they are not internationaly well known, that's at least in Turkey.

Looks ok, but it's about time someone released a phone that's just a tiny PC. I'm bored and sick of waiting for it to come..............time to tape together a Nano and a phone :P - BeachSide, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0"Looks ok, but it's about time someone released a phone that's just a tiny PC"
Maybe you missed the release of the PPC-6700

- Splitt3rxx, on 10/12/2007, -3/+2lame, it looks nothing like a blackberry, teh blackberry is supposed to look like a blackberry!
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1yep, looks more slick.
that blackberry next to the cingular one just amplifies the cing1 even more. - Progranism, on 10/12/2007, -4/+2I'd like to take a leak on that.
- aburd, on 10/12/2007, -4/+2Yeah! It's supposed to look like the old blackberry!
http://www.verizonwireless.com/b2c/store/controller?item=phoneFirst&action=viewPhoneDetail&selectedPhoneId=2080 - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -9/+6I still fail to see the point of a blackberry when you could get a treo.
- ravuya, on 10/12/2007, -7/+2Reminds me of a TI-83.
