- ChiffX, on 07/11/2008, -2/+66Man, they need to quit bitching for it to be retroactive and accept that something GOOD happened for them.
- Insanekingkong, on 07/11/2008, -1/+46That is the major problem with the Music Industry- they can never be happy with the money that they are fortunate to receive. Once they get a penny, they want the other 99.
This is also a great decision for the many many small bands that are label-less. - jdubdub, on 07/11/2008, -1/+27As far as I know, last.fm has always been legal -- subscribers aren't just paying for no ads, you know! Perhaps those lazy indie bands should just sign up to their local royalty distribution provider.
- geoken, on 07/11/2008, -1/+19Yeah, I understand the point they're making, lastFM said "let us stream your tracks, the royalty system will be set up soon" then proceeded to stream the tracks for 6 months before setting up the system. But in the end, this is a major step forward for their independent music business.
They should just bite the bullet and be happy that the major label controlled music industry is starting to erode. - meannate, on 07/12/2008, -2/+15Whaaah! I need money so I can dress poorly and have smelly hair.
- Tyrghast, on 07/12/2008, -1/+13Oh ***** you Merlin, be thankful your clients are getting a goddamn penny.
- username7410, on 07/12/2008, -0/+8Indie labels, having their cake and eating it too!
- linksus, on 07/12/2008, -0/+6Am I the only one that wants to grab these record companys by the throat and shake them untill they are blue and then shake them some more.
- BedPost, on 07/12/2008, -1/+6Musicians are overpaid.
- firedrillduckie, on 07/12/2008, -1/+5Because the extra $3 you earned within the past is going to make a difference to your band and it's ultimate success.
- simg, on 07/12/2008, -0/+3that's true of pretty much all industries / companies ...
- raada, on 07/12/2008, -0/+3They want last.fm to set up their servers for free, maintain them for free and let people download from the for free?..... Oh...No, they don't only want it for free, they want to get paid for someone else doing that...
They should set it up themselves instead, and then they can pay and charge themselves.
Get real ! - Jeffler, on 07/12/2008, -1/+3http://*****.you
- menwuur, on 07/12/2008, -1/+3Why are indie artists supposed to bite the bullet when it would never be expected of a major label artist...
- ChristBehemoth, on 07/12/2008, -0/+2Every artist should ditch their respective labels and stick around Last.fm
- portis, on 07/12/2008, -0/+2Because you'd rather start out somewhere...
- kamisama, on 07/12/2008, -0/+2Yeah they kick so much ass that you can't even reach them unless you are located in the US or possibly maybe Canada. So screw them.
- ChristBehemoth, on 07/12/2008, -0/+1Joe Kennedy? Is that you?
- Giga, on 07/12/2008, -0/+1No. No you aren't.
- MattBD, on 07/12/2008, -0/+1Unfortunately you can't get it anymore in Britain. Shame, it's a great service.
- Remlapw, on 02/13/2009, -0/+0glad to see that they want to pay and cooperate
