- crawfishsoul, on 10/12/2007, -2/+104Please Last.fm, aim to be BETTER than MTV. Please.
- chicken101, on 10/12/2007, -1/+44last.fm is one of the best designed websites out there.
- troydoogle7, on 10/12/2007, -1/+43Last fm rocks!!!! already better than mtv... No jessica simpson tv shows....

Uhh..is that a good thing or a bad thing? - TheCheeks, on 10/12/2007, -2/+43Last.fm is probably one of the best websites on the internet, love it and with a new music video section it will dominate
- cquinnd, on 10/12/2007, -3/+36Good questions.
MTV from the 1980s, 1990s or 2000s? - louisianna, on 10/12/2007, -2/+24i love last.fm - but i worry with the addition of video the site will become even slower than it already is.
- cmder, on 10/12/2007, -1/+22hm...i made such a thing last week, combining a user's last.fm top artists and youtube, maybe they should hire me :)

(still very much beta) - xspinkickx, on 10/12/2007, -1/+18internet killed the video star??
- Sabin, on 10/12/2007, -3/+12I enjoy using/surfing last.fm. I would consume rat poison before I watched MTV again. Looks like they may have already surpassed their target. So will I be able to scrobble all the movies I watch through XBMC some time soon?
- omarciddo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8So long as they don't bow down to the record industry the way MTV has and give all musicians a fair shake, it should be a good thing.
- guywhodoesstuff, on 10/12/2007, -2/+8Don't hate the media, become the media.
And while I'm quoting Biafra, "MTV, get off the air... NOW". - ElMoselYEE, on 10/12/2007, -5/+11did you just sad wink at me?
- javness, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6depends on their policy on reality tv shows
- RobbieS, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6I am also a pretty huge Last.fm fan, and look forward to this development. However, as others have echoed, when are they going to allow multiple tags/artists again for radio generation? ;(
- jawbreaker4fs, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5I'd prefer MTV from the 1990s if last.fm will have shows like Liquid Television, Oddities and The State.
- reldruh, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5One of my favorite amarok features is last.fm integration. There was already some talk about including very basic video support in Amarok for things like watching music videos. If last.fm starts supplying videos like that and the amarok integration is anywhere near the level it is for music I'd be willing to start paying for that. Currently a last.fm subscription is $3/month. Getting audio, video and all the other features that come with being a subscriber is worth at least double that to me.
- drgruney, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5Depends on how long it is until they stop playing music like MTV.
- edicius, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5The Zune support is there, all you have to do is throw out that turd of a player and buy an iPod.
Zunes Suck.
Don't bother replying or digging me down...they will still suck. - riah, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4It'd be pretty tough to roll out something like this without a server upgrade.
- marky7186, on 10/12/2007, -3/+7Just please please, i beg of you. dont have retarded videos or episodes of shows named "Next" or "Laguna Beach" for the love of god.
Let alone Date My Mom. Unless of course it's Stacies Mom, in that case I'll allow it. - t3hj03, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Awesome! I was hoping last.fm would play reality TV shows!
- jonstafari, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3last.fm has a _great_ thing going for music. but video? as long as adding said option does not ruin the usability of their site, it'll probably be a good thing (and something that was inevitable) for last.fm. as long as they dont increase the subscription rate or murder the interface, last.fm will be pretty sick.
i cant wait for the new player... - sq2shooter, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Be like MTV? So they want to be insignificant?
- psevium, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Yeah I like it, it's just Youtube's quality lets it down, and the fact that some aren't 'official' videos, just fan pieces of *****
- reldruh, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3A $3/month subscription will get you priority service. You might look into that if speed is your only problem.
- cmder, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1forgot the link for the last.fm group and comment edit expired

I have subscribed for the past few months and I have an 8Mb connection, still really slow. I liked whne subscribing gave you extra features before everybody else got them. The only advantage now is seeing who visits your page, and no ads. - cmder, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Thanks for the positive replies :) I've read the entire YouTube Terms of Use (http://youtube.com/t/terms) and there is nothing I can find that I'm doing wrong. I'm simply fetching the last.fm top artist data and displaying relevant youtube videos according to that. The only thing that could be wrong is that I'm not displaying the original video player, but I do plan to integrate a link to the actual video page for every video soon.
But I started a last.fm group for these kind of discussions, so I don't have to check this page anymore. It's also the place for feature requests. - reldruh, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1That's really good. I'm definitely going to bookmark it. Just out of curiosity, are you affected by all the stuff going on with SoundExchange and royalty rates? It's not like another reason is needed to be opposed to the rate hike but this is definitely a good reason to not let that through. Also, I wonder if last.fm is affected by it and if they are, are you affected by it as well? In essence, would SoundExchange have to be paid by both you and last.fm for the one playing of the song? Anyway, kudos to you. I really appreciate people who put things like this together. You should have some good karma coming your way.
- eean, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Here's the source press release http://www.prweb.com/releases/2007/5/prweb525152.htm
Anyone can throw up a press release though... I'd wait for something from last.fm before believing it. - championchap, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I've never gotten on with Internet Radio.
Know why? The bands I like arent freaking on there!!
It's sweet agony being a TISM fan. - riah, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Hey, that's actually kinda cool. Good mashup.
- nxusername, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1No doubt. Over and over again. The Real World/Road Rules totally make since on "Music Television".
- TheQuikOne, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1That is awesome dude...
I like the way the text scrolls at the top
Good job - aliguana, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2and thats a bad thing? at least you'll be getting the full-length, full quality video, and not the track with some fuzzy manga clips spliced over the top of it.
- CraigMacrae, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2If it's anything like their radio system only the labels will be able to upload videos.
- macewan, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2last.fm is down
- cam2009, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I hope they don't make it a focus, but this could be really nice. One thing - only music videos, interviews, or fan made music videos. On artists page, have a small section with video thumbnails. Users could still submit them, but they'd have to specify the artist it belongs to. That way there aren't a bunch of cats playing pianos and Daily Show clips.
Last.fm is great because it does so many things, but limits it to their original focus of music. As long as they stay on track, they'll be great. They've basically been taking over the music industry in every section. People find new music with recommendations and neighbors, they listen to music with personalized radio, they chart everything you listen to, and they catalog every artist out there.
They've got 15 million users now, so they could pretty easily become a major force. No one else is doing it, and I don't think MTV and music industries realize how much serious potential it has. Can't wait to see what they do next (iTunes-like store?) - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3Your div's are *****/
- Beatmiser, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3I've come in late to last.fm but I'll tell you, once I found it and realized how well it does what it does, I subscribed for a year just to support them. I worry though that the current wave of RIAA/DMCA nonsense is going to catch up with them eventually and when it does it's going to jack the whole concept.
As far as features the one thing I wish they could put together would be something like this guy did: http://megamu.com/lastfm/ ((I've been amazed by this since this guy hit digg)). I would pay an extra five to ten dollars a month to have something like that which I could turn into a poster after a few years ((like this guy did)) as I often chart my life through my evolving musical tastes. - cmder, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Thanks, i was trying to figure out a way to filter the actual clips from the user submitted cellphone videos, but that's for another time. Anyway, my domain seems to be down now, so please try again later :( Seems I will have to use that dreamhost not-satisfied-money-back guarantee after all...
- reldruh, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1@aliquana
Agreed. If I wanted to see an unlimited number of teenagers dancing to songs I'd just go to youtube. For this to work the labels would have to be on board. Luckily, last.fm has been courting the labels while still respecting the listener. - Linkacid, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1interesting I'd like to see it be a little simpler tho
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1I don't think the RIAA will get them. They are based in England.
- Yoshi39, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1I think he ment to do :'(
- Washandje, on 10/12/2007, -3/+2Use Zenses.

It's very beta, it's quite buggy, but it works most of the time. - clinko, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1I wrote a similar system about a year ago:
