qik.com — Kevin Rose got a Qik account - follow him as he gives a tour of the Digg HQ in San Francisco
- 2488 diggs
- digg it
- DigiDave, on 03/25/2008, -2/+90It's not as cool as Google's... but it's cool.
- sockpuppets, on 03/25/2008, -4/+43Wow macbooks, cubicles and nerds. Who would have ever guessed?
- simplenation, on 03/25/2008, -1/+79so this is why the comment system still hasn't been fixed. slackers
- timdorr, on 03/25/2008, -0/+6Yeah, wasn't that supposed to be released like...months ago? WTF is taking so long?
- MrMinit, on 03/26/2008, -0/+2They are compiling.
- optimusprime01, on 03/25/2008, -4/+6It's freaking Digg office, what else do you want?
It's got, beer, chess, dig dog and dig dugg machine for a startup. Instead of spending all the money on the office,i guess they
are putting into new hires and scalable and improving digg (which btw will take some time).
Digg dog FTW.- pointpointclick, on 03/25/2008, -0/+1Digg Dogg FTW indeed...
- kowalzki, on 03/25/2008, -4/+8No dumbass!! they're spending it on beer and pot.
- artofwar420, on 03/27/2008, -0/+1HELLS YEAH.
- LiLi009, on 03/25/2008, -1/+1I was surprised to see the cubicles too. I thought it would be more like open spaces with furniture dividing the space like a loft, but I guess without artificial dividers, the guys would never get anything done. Also, each worker would not be able to personalize his or her space with personal photos and mementos.
- atlwebguy, on 03/25/2008, -8/+252Kevin Rose works in a cube? Did anyone else find that surprising?
- DigiDave, on 03/25/2008, -1/+30The man has a cubicle. I wonder if he really has to go there everyday... or it's just there for when he pops in and the rest of the time he can work from home?
- SilenceGold, on 03/25/2008, -1/+13Naw..he works from anywhere as long as he got his lappie with him.
- nonymous666, on 03/27/2008, -0/+1He's mentioned on the diggnation podcast that he's not often in the office.
- simplenation, on 03/25/2008, -3/+194not at all, kevin rose seems to be a pretty modest guy. every time someone mentions something about him being "the kevin rose" he plays it down, not wanting the attention. i think that is what makes him a really likable guy. if i was in my 20s and started a very successful company, i'd be the biggest asshole ever.
- FlyingSpaghetti, on 03/25/2008, -7/+56It would be nice to throw a wad of $20 bills and remind her that it's not going to suck itself.
- pr0phet491, on 03/25/2008, -2/+15Yea he's actually a pretty laid back guy, especially considering what he's accomplished.
- dojonz, on 03/25/2008, -1/+28he's over 30 isn't he?
- Erik1, on 03/25/2008, -3/+1Just turned I believe.
- optimusprime01, on 03/25/2008, -5/+6No, Just turned 31 according to wikipedia.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kevin_rose - jamesov89, on 03/25/2008, -2/+9Well, since 31 > 30 he is over 30.
- durant0s, on 03/25/2008, -2/+1540 is the new 20.
- atticus8, on 03/25/2008, -0/+9I'd be like "You there, fetch me the Wall Street Journal. And you and you - fight to the DEATH!"
- iambetterthanu, on 03/25/2008, -0/+2Here Here
- G-RaZoR, on 03/25/2008, -0/+2It isn't successful until it actually starts making some serious money. Right now he is burning through VC funds.
- FlyingSpaghetti, on 03/25/2008, -7/+56It would be nice to throw a wad of $20 bills and remind her that it's not going to suck itself.
- RocketGib, on 03/25/2008, -1/+37I see a trend that seems to have been started by guys like those who founded Google... They prefer to focus on running the company rather than running with money.
- SpectreFire, on 03/25/2008, -2/+37That's cause the companies they're running are fun compared to companies like Enron.
Enron: Let's look at stock portfolios and corporate projects!
Google: Let's eat delicious sundaes and make funny looking objects!- thespottedelf, on 03/25/2008, -3/+3so true... also you can drink at work :D
- DarkSamus, on 03/25/2008, -2/+2and ***** hookers
- durant0s, on 03/25/2008, -4/+3and get high!
- thespottedelf, on 03/25/2008, -3/+3so true... also you can drink at work :D
- SpectreFire, on 03/25/2008, -2/+37That's cause the companies they're running are fun compared to companies like Enron.
- mGARANDEUR1, on 03/25/2008, -2/+2I'm sure he can work from his house if he really wanted to. He might get more work done at the office though.
- sebrOck, on 03/25/2008, -2/+2i´m not at all surprised about that.
- kingo123, on 03/25/2008, -1/+6I actually found out that Glenn actually DOES look like a Hippie....that was more surprising! :)
- LiLi009, on 03/25/2008, -1/+0I was surprised to see the cubicles too. I thought it would be more like open spaces with furniture dividing the space like a loft, but I guess without artificial dividers, the guys would never get anything done. Also, each worker would not be able to personalize his or her space with personal photos and mementos.
- DigiDave, on 03/25/2008, -1/+30The man has a cubicle. I wonder if he really has to go there everyday... or it's just there for when he pops in and the rest of the time he can work from home?
- VeniceCA, on 03/25/2008, -1/+63I like it. It's not like you need a big fancy office in order to get things done, especially when there's lot's of travel to do as well.
- nowsourcing, on 03/25/2008, -15/+51Was waiting to see the Diggnation couch.
- simplenation, on 03/25/2008, -2/+51that would be in his or alex's apt.
- its...Betty, on 03/25/2008, -0/+3You mean the one we see every week?
- samgab, on 03/25/2008, -1/+36The offices weren't quite as arty as I'd expected. I also think Google has some pretty awesome offices.
Is there a virtual tour of those anywhere?- Plopfish, on 03/25/2008, -1/+2Check out video.google.com and type in "Google HQ" or "headquarters" and or "tour" and I think you'll find it. Also "Google documentary" I would find it myself but it's blocked at work.
- j1ggy, on 03/25/2008, -10/+3Nice. Where's my desk?
- bigt8dogg, on 03/25/2008, -0/+24You're probably stitting at it.
- simplenation, on 03/25/2008, -0/+29I want to see the end result of the projector screen he installed in his new apartment
- amanilaenvelope, on 03/25/2008, -1/+41no huge piles of redbull?
- j1ggy, on 03/25/2008, -2/+3Bleh. Stick to the "battery" style cans of Jolt.
- simplenation, on 03/25/2008, -3/+5do you mean 180: Flip Your ENERGY
- SteveCUBE, on 03/25/2008, -1/+10yeah... instead they're drinking beer! Very productive :p
- Hobbes24, on 03/25/2008, -8/+93digg dog ftw
- moletimer, on 03/25/2008, -2/+11*dogg.
- DeadFox1, on 03/25/2008, -3/+1digg's dogg? or digg dugg?
- pointpointclick, on 03/25/2008, -0/+1Digg Dogg FTW indeed...
- loves2spooge, on 03/25/2008, -16/+6kevin's voice sounds crazy weird
- Darkhacker, on 03/25/2008, -2/+3He's recording on a cell phone so the audio (and video) quality is very low.
- mark076h, on 03/25/2008, -26/+11i would totally do Aubrey
- napk, on 03/25/2008, -1/+20you know what... inappropriate
- thespottedelf, on 03/25/2008, -8/+3reported... don't be an a-hole
- cderry, on 03/25/2008, -0/+6Aubrey totally wouldn't do you.
- Teh_Shiz, on 03/25/2008, -12/+1Choppy :(
- BruceBogtrotter, on 03/28/2008, -0/+1I thought the frame rate was pretty good. Especially for a phone.
- Sagags, on 03/25/2008, -23/+5omg this article mentions Kevin Rose, the founder of digg!
++++++++++++DIGG - isiz, on 03/25/2008, -1/+44Needs a ball pit.
- callmejordy265, on 03/25/2008, -7/+3Dugg for the XKCD reference.
- sndchk, on 03/26/2008, -0/+1I think he was referring to the last.fm office. However you are right the owner of xkcd does have a ball pit also (blag.xkcd.com/2008/02/27/ballpit-phase-ii/)
- adroit, on 03/25/2008, -2/+57the best part is the kitchen. When i went there they fed me pizzas and gave me all the tasty beer i could need. It is usually fully stocked with multiple types of beer.
- Rysac1, on 03/25/2008, -1/+1yes the focus group was tons of fun.
- atticus8, on 03/25/2008, -0/+1the only thing more common than mentioning diggs on diggnation is beer. on diggnation the beer flows like wine.
- aenima987, on 03/25/2008, -0/+4cool, how come you went?
- simplenation, on 03/25/2008, -2/+10Here is the construction stage:
http://www.flickr.com/photos/ojbyrne/sets/72057594 ... - KillPenguin, on 03/25/2008, -14/+5Is it just me or did that not sound like Kevin?
- Burn, on 03/25/2008, -2/+4It's not just you. It's when he's playing that game and says 'Oh Crap' that confirmed it's him to me.
- ZeDJS, on 03/25/2008, -3/+40wish i worked there =/
- AvidPreatorian, on 03/25/2008, -8/+2his computer looks awfully similar to mine :D
- Zlorp, on 03/25/2008, -17/+8ZOMG KEVIN ROSE~!!!!!@#!@$)U$@!U)($@!)(@$
- shamess, on 03/25/2008, -1/+2Pick your audience better next time.
- gravylookout, on 03/25/2008, -2/+57I like the fact that despite his "fame" and position in the new web, he hasn't lost his awe for new technology. Kevin seems open to anything new and ready to adopt technologies. I can't think of anyone better to be overseeing our dynamic community here.
- optimusprime01, on 03/25/2008, -3/+2Well Said. Watch other videos where he praises sociathing a new social startup alongwith gray vaynerchuck (of winelibary.com)
- kuppoppo, on 03/25/2008, -14/+3Boring and not newsworthy. Buried.
- Sp3x0ps, on 03/25/2008, -17/+2dugg down for N95 :]
- ulaelable, on 03/25/2008, -5/+7the n95 is awesome!
- Crash1337, on 03/25/2008, -5/+2doesnt seem to stream much at all, likes to buffer alot though
- 11familyguy11, on 03/25/2008, -0/+28I love how happy the dog looks when he says treat. Awesome.
- danislost, on 03/25/2008, -2/+6I was surprised to see the amount of beer.
- EvilFerret, on 03/25/2008, -0/+3I take it as a sign of them treating all employees like responsible adults. If somebody came in and just started chugging them down without getting any work done, they would be out of a job fairly quickly. So long as you stay productive and don't get smashed, I don't see anything wrong with drinking on the job.
- freakshowlee, on 03/25/2008, -4/+4awesome...diggdog and digdug BOTH ftw.
- FriniK, on 03/25/2008, -3/+6very cool... both the technology involved and the office...i'll have mine one day.
- antdude, on 03/25/2008, -3/+26Kevin Rose = Diggfather!
- noticedneutrino, on 03/25/2008, -14/+5How cute!!! GROWN MEN and kids alike have a MANcrush on Kevin Rose. DIGG EVERYTHING Kevin does
- douchewag, on 03/29/2008, -0/+1He's the boss man.
- optoomistic, on 03/25/2008, -3/+10NOKIA for the win!
- knopper67, on 03/25/2008, -3/+1Actually I think it's supposed to be the other way around?
- Miche1987, on 03/25/2008, -1/+2The win for NOKIA?
- knopper67, on 03/25/2008, -3/+1Actually I think it's supposed to be the other way around?
- jintaehuan, on 03/25/2008, -4/+4So what of his iphone? I heard he had like 3 or 4 before. does he use both? or did he just retire the apple?
- Yarns87, on 03/25/2008, -2/+2I am pretty sure that Qik only works with Nokia's N95 at the moment. So that is what Kevin and Scoble have been using recently.
- zongamin, on 03/25/2008, -9/+4boring as *****
- PhrosTT, on 03/25/2008, -4/+1what kind of cell network do u need to get enough bandwidth for that?
- ssbopper, on 03/25/2008, -3/+5I believe he mentioned being connected to wifi :)
- Burn, on 03/25/2008, -2/+2HSDPA would pull it off quite nicely.
- cawpin, on 03/25/2008, -1/+2Verizon's network has supported that for a while now. My buddy in NC showed me his house over it when he moved in.
- sab0tage, on 03/25/2008, -0/+1It works over 3G or WLAN
- everslim101, on 03/25/2008, -7/+3digg has an office?
- shamess, on 03/25/2008, -0/+1They're the revision3 offices too.
- jsbarone, on 03/25/2008, -4/+3is it wrong that I would commute whatever time necessary to work for Digg? Dotcom 2.0 here I come!
- Wesky, on 03/25/2008, -1/+1"...so oh what do we have in the kitchen?"
"Oh i think just beer and candy."
"Okay who's making a food run...?" - tsarfan, on 03/25/2008, -0/+8get well aubrey!
- mjpanzer, on 03/25/2008, -3/+5she's so hot
- digg4rob, on 03/25/2008, -2/+5No multi screen wall showing Arc, Swarm, Stack, Spy etc I was a little disappointed but I bet Jay's office looks a little different than Kevin's cube! :)
- EvilFerret, on 03/25/2008, -0/+2Difference is Kevin is free to pursue other projects. He's not the type of person who likes to sit behind a desk all day long making phone calls and doing BS paperwork.
- MLisa, on 03/25/2008, -1/+8Wall graphics/ or hiring a decorator would be a plus. BTW I am available.
- matt.rubin, on 03/25/2008, -2/+14My little kevin has grown up form the Screen Savers Days ;()
- druckster2002, on 03/25/2008, -5/+2qik is crazy... what kind of phone were you guys using?
- drewxhawaii, on 03/25/2008, -0/+8Nokia N95. He says so in the video.
- DevBlazed, on 03/25/2008, -13/+1FAKE!!! BURIED!!!
- dafragsta, on 03/25/2008, -6/+1I saw that SXSW badge in person... attached to Kevin... as I was de-crapping the swag bag, when he randomly took a spot next to me in the floor. On second thought, it probably would've been prudent if I had given him my beer. ;)
- fjacky66, on 03/25/2008, -2/+3Man...drink beers at work,must be nice.Wheres the room for smackin a dabby.
- MSP1, on 03/25/2008, -11/+2An interviewer without a plan? A first time user of a video camera? The immature of the species acting up for the camera liked three year olds? A waste of time? You bet!
- alz0rz, on 03/25/2008, -1/+6you're a waste of human.
- optimusprime01, on 03/25/2008, -3/+3Apparently Kevin Rose is in love qik, he send out twitter twitts about his upcoming streaming video and people log in like crazy and ask him bunch of questions.
http://qik.com/kevin
This video shows that he seems like a nice guy and a good boss unlike jason calacanis
http://www.techcrunch.com/2008/03/07/calacanis-fir ...
For me the digg office tour was great especially the digg dog :).
Again digg dog FTW.- Yarns87, on 03/25/2008, -1/+1Between Kevin and Scoble, a good portion of the Wine/Web 2.0 Weekend Party was recorded live. But yeah, I get those tweets too. It can be annoying when he records twenty 3 minute clips in a row when I check my twitter homepage and I have 20 new tweets all saying " I'm streaming live right now, come chat!". I can't complain though because when I have gotten those tweets I instantly go check if he is streaming live. It's awesome how much Kevin, Scoble, and Gary V. make their lives public.
- britblogger, on 03/25/2008, -2/+2Dig Dug = dugg
- EnricoFermi, on 03/25/2008, -4/+4Damn Aubrey is hot!
- douchewag, on 03/29/2008, -0/+1She should be dancing.
- MikeonTV, on 03/25/2008, -3/+4Shouldn't Daniel Burka be programming?
- highlite, on 03/25/2008, -1/+6Shouldn't you flip those burgers? They are starting to burn...
