- iamapun, on 10/12/2007, -2/+40No thanks, I'd rather listen to the show.
- m3mn0n, on 10/12/2007, -4/+33bananas are yellow.
- scott1, on 10/12/2007, -5/+27"Kevin Rose Can't Be Heard Because of His Own Digg Effect"
The Kevin Rose effect? - thumb_tack99, on 10/12/2007, -1/+22just when it was starting to get good too!!
- skoles, on 10/12/2007, -5/+26Kevin Roses' new motto:
"Sorry, I can't hear you over the sound of how awesome I am." - defcon11, on 10/12/2007, -3/+24Dugg, for the irony!
- thumb_tack99, on 10/12/2007, -2/+17you are one of the lucky ones. anything cool happening?
- digger_twit, on 10/12/2007, -0/+14Yeah, it was funny...Leo banned me because of complaining.
Thats sucks.
Meanwhile, let's all enjoy the latest episode of TWiT. (Not official posted yet)

- Invisz, on 10/12/2007, -1/+10The show was great by the way. Although TalkShoe went down, the net@nite continued on for Skype users. TalkShoe chat was just filled with 16 year old diggers asking Amber ASL!??!? etc - not to mention the chat interface gets really hard to use with so many users online contributing their important insights like "lol" and "hey".
- camkerr, on 10/12/2007, -1/+10Just taking calls, they didn't talk about the iPhone anymore, they said "it was all discussed on diggnation" Questions included "are you going to do any more system episodes?" and some kid who had a 4 part question asking how to start a web 2.0 site, then asked for a job, it was kinda funny.
- HCviolence, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8Talk about getting bit by your own monster.
- TSSaloic, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8net@nite's taped version comes out on Tuesday if Leo is on time.
- kurrent, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7talkshow client = java piece of *****
- Dennis, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7Really, all you needed to do was call in with skype or your regular phone and tune in. I listened to the whole show. If you were the chat, they gave instructions to do so. You weren't missing too much, but still entertaining. The questions they asked Kevin were questions that have been answered several times.
- tagliare, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6In case people don't know, you can just listen to it on Tues in high quality in the net@nite/inside the net RSS feed:
http://www.twit.tv/ITN - Lindsay, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6Yeah, I was looking forward to hearing the show...
- coolian, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5True. I gave up on the show after some 20 minutes.
- jull1234, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Unscreened talk shows can be quite fun. I seem to recall that Art Bell used to do this when he was doing Coast to Coast from his house in Nevada. Unscreened + Coast to Coast + Crazy ass alien abductee = *****' awesome.
- jp71270, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3digger_twit......u tha man
- RockMyMonkey, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Never listened to a net@nite podcast, but I might give this one a try. So many podcasts, so little time.
- Teague, on 10/12/2007, -5/+8I was sitting next to the first caller, who began the questions session with the pained cry of "nooo!" upon hearing that he might have lost his place in the pecking line.
He will definitely be digging this comment down. :-D - buscemi2000, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3it has been stated repeatedly that it isn't bandwidth. netatnite started a few weeks ago and apparently exposed problems in their java applications (both the chat and the web site are java-based). This time there were folks from TalkShoe on GeekRiot afterwards confirming problems with a NIC on the server that provides streaming (hence the regular calls still working fine and the chat client going along as well). But thanks for the armchair quarterbacking. Not to say it wasn't good because application/coding issues are probably harder to fix than adding hardware and bandwidth :-(
- dylanbenstead, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Clearly TalkShoe needs more bandwidth.... this has happened on multiple occasions
- jeff1943, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3You could actually hear the show if you dialed in via Skype or phone. The client audio literally crashed.
- r2builder, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5Man talkshoe is crap. This is after they spent 30k on new equipment last week, so that they could host big events like this. They really need to sort out their chat UI too.
I waited in the room for around an hour, and just as it was getting good - the audio seized up on me.
I'm in the UK, so I couldn't dial in without it costing quite a bit of money.
well, it was a good idea - and I can't wait to download the show when it's released. It's just a shame that Talkshoe failed on us. - PumpkinEscobar, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Yep, I was bumped after about 25 minutes myself. Never got to hear what beer Kevin was drinking, either.
- RedGiant, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Calling in gave me the opportunity to listen to the whole show. Oh and one other thing. They mentioned theBroken was canceled.
- cliktokill, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Man I was on the line for one and a half hours, and I was the 10th queued but then they ran out of time...
- Nothlit, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2@r2builder
Why not call in using SkypeOut? - siouxmoux, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2If you call in through Skype, you could listen in to the rest of the Net@Nite show.
- bellisland, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2i was so mad, i could hear bc i was using skype and i was number 2 to talk to kevin when leo ended the show
- Dested, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Wohoo!
- Nothlit, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I called in and listened to the whole thing on my cell phone with absolutely no problems. It was actually nicer since I could listen without tying myself to the computer. The number is 724-444-7444, show ID 3185.
- Nothlit, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3That kid was pretty lame. This is why real call-in shows have phone screeners. ;-)
- nightwave, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Sorry for potential comment reply abuse, but I thought it needed to be at the top of the page.

Because Skypeout is only free in North America, here in Europe you're just supposed to cough up some dough. - alecperkins, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1@treelovinhippie
The podcast isn't made available until Tuesdays usually, so it won't be up for a while I bet (I could be wrong).
edit: didn't see tagliare down there. - tehpoutine, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2This is hardly tech industry news. Please let's make a "Digg Self Serving *****" topic so I can block this goofy dumbass.
- GregoryHarbin, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I never had any problems hearing the show, even as Leo kept saying over and over that no one could hear it. I guess I left before he ended it--the show just got boring, so I stopped listening.
- 0crabby0, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1It's not so much band WIDTH, but band HEIGHT...
*Alex's own words on Tikibar.tv - the "Bastard Son of the Internet" episode. - djliquidice, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1You guys give so much power to that guy, it's so sad.
- pauricthelodger, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I just think that people who complain about having to pay money for Skype to join in ought to know this. I'm from Ireland and I've been using Talkshoe for the last few weeks after been sent over from www.pvponline.com. Although the Talkshoe client is awkward, you get used to it very quickly and you'll find it very handy when hosting your own show. Anyway, instead of Skype you can use SJ Phone which is recommended by Talkshoe or X-Lite. Some people (myself included) have found its hard to get through firewalls with this, but it works for some. X-Lite however works perfectly. You can find it at www.xten.com. It works on most OS's and you can use a free account that you can get at www.voxalot.com. In the FAQ in voxalot, it also shows you how to input the voxalot details in X-Lite, its about halfway down the page. I've sent alot of people over to X-Lite and everyone has been highly complementary regarding it. Hope you find this useful and tune into Random Chaos some night if you want :)
- t.toe, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I'm pretty sure Leo was screening callers in the hour before net@nite officially started. at least that's what I assumed he was doing by talking to callers in that hour.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1i think alot of these scrubs posting their blogs shouldnt post things unless theyre prepared for the digg effect also.
- treelovinhippie, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1@ alecperkins .... thus the part where I said "soon" :)
- Taikomochi, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I was the very first caller, and they certainly didn't know what I was going to ask. I was trying to give up my spot in the queue to talk about Talkshoe with Leo before the actual recording with Kevin started, but to no avail. But no, it wasn't screened.
I have to go back and listen, i'm sure the "NOOOOO" i let out when I thought i'd lost my spot in the queue was pretty amusing for others. - davenelsen, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Yosemidy - You don't have to wait until Tuesday. You can find Leo's unedited recording on TalkShoe within 20 minutes of show completion every Sunday night (http://www.talkshoe.com/talkshoe/web/talkCast.jsp?masterId=3185). Click your favorite RSS link on his show page to subscribe.
I might regret sharing this but I'm the founder of TalkShoe and would love to hear your feedback directly at daven@talkshoe.com. Let me know if you have ideas and/or suggestions. We are absolutely "busting our humps" to be able to gracefully handle the demand that Leo is generating. The TWiT army and DiggNation are both impressively large. - BrianSchuliger, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0TalkShoe swarmed by DiggNation. Here's the stats, and info from TalkShoe about the issues.
