- Mtown, on 07/10/2009, -0/+3I don't understand why people act like the internet is a physical thing. It's not like internet over here is any different than the internet in China or Norway. The internet is a GLOBAL network. It doesn't matter if a certain website's content doesn't comply with the rules of your country. YOUR country doesn't own the internet, so why should you have a say in another website/company's policies?
The article mentioned something about Yahoo and France, where Yahoo somehow violated a french law and France wanted Yahoo to remove the content or whatever to french users. Why the hell should Yahoo have to do that? Yahoo inc. isn't located in France.
It should be up to FRANCE to change something, not Yahoo. Force french ISP providers block Yahoo completely if Yahoo is violating French law. I'm sure Yahoo would take notice when all that french ad revenue disappeared. But don't just SUE them, it's not their fault your rules are different.
