- TheAttacks, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6Very cool site man! :-)
- 3monkeys, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4What intrigues me, is that with very little abstraction, they could either sell the source to another company to provide their own meta-search functionality in a different space, or simply adapt it themselves to target another space. Cars I would assume, was the easiest space to target initially.
- tutivlahos, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2A question:
When you create a meta-search engine, do you need to pay (cars.com, carprices.com) to list them in your results? Or it's a free exchange? - tmiller51, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Didn't work to well for me. I restricted my search to within 50 miles but got many hits almost 1k miles away.
- diggtrends, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Try the compare feature between different models & locations

Karslist is giving them advertising. By all rights, cars.com should be paying *them*. - Bit0, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2@badtz:
Hey dink... notice that this digg was not filed in the world and business section where we might discuss the market for such a website and the business sense... its in the technology section where we discuss the... yes... technology. Web 2.0 is a newer technology and this site is done in web 2.0 so, yes, we are going to discuss it. - Bit0, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Badtz is right. While us nerds are drooling over what a great job they have done with the design, the bottom line is selling (in this case cars). They have done an outstanding job with the technology here but is it more effective? Probably.
My only beef (and everyone is a critic) is that I would like to see an 'Any' option in the make and model dropdowns.
Definitely DUGG for showcasing some of the latest in website design. - drWhiet, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1For the German Car Market (hence the Europan Car Market) there is a similar Service available. It is not really a Web 2.0 Webservice but a Windows Software called formbrowserPro. You can search up to 10 of the biggest German Used Car Websites.
http://www.formbrowser.com oder http://www.gebrauchtwagensoftware.de
After installation and registration you are able to test the Software for 7 days for free.
After that time you have to pay 69 Euros a Month. I am myself work for a used Car
Dealer here in Germany and we love the Programm. The Software is (right now in
german Language) but I think next to the German Helpfile as .pdf there is a english Version of the Handbook available (Which was used by our Partner in Sweden) If you are interested i can post a link later on. As of now here is the Link to the German Manual
http://www.gebrauchtwagensoftware.de/help/kfzsuchprogramm.pdf - huntsvillepr, on 07/11/2008, -0/+1very nice. Here is another site for car loan articles etc http://www.carloan.vg
- mucello, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Reminds me of another useful consumer site for airline tickets: www.kayak.com (except that it works better)
- lamestory, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Why not just link to the site instead of that ***** blog post?
Blogs suck - badtz, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Great site!
BUT, what's the added value between this site and already established sites (that I used to buy my car 3 weeks ago) such as autobaron and oodle? - HelenVr, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1they dont search Car Max
- diggtrends, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Hey, the sliders are dynamic so you will see the range only from results.
Say Saab is released in 1985, but your search results produced cars only starting from 1992, slider adjust to results. Same with price & mileage. - juneof44, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Those Krazy Kar Kids are at it again!
- lasvegas, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1search results are not accurate and anyone else tired of seeing almost all overpriced dealer cars?
some of these dealers use all the popular sites to list their cars, wonder how many show up multiple times or if there is a filter to prevent that? why there are no cars from autotrader? yeah I know it's beta but its missing tons of cars from some of the sites it mines.
try http://www.classyauto.com for tons of private owner cars - eauxnguyen, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Appears to be missing the ability to specify a year beyond the nice slider bars, key word such as turbo, and, for Saab anyway, anything prior to 1992. Perhaps they can take another look at cars.com. Great concept if they take it the rest of the way.
- djgargamel, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1GAWD that logo is awful.
- eauxnguyen, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0A quick search of cars.com (one of karslist's sources) returns Saabs from years 1985 and forward. For now karslist appears to pull from the more complete work that cars.com does (searches on-line classifieds nationwide for example) and returns an incomplete set.
- lookowt, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Another "web 2.0" site: http://www.web2carz.com. No ads is nice..
- foochal, on 06/12/2008, -0/+0Has anyone tries this other meta search engine.
http://www.iseecars.com/
They search 2000+ websites and do analysis of listings as well. - badtz, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1I guess people on digg likes to digg anything with "web 2.0" in the title ;)
- wafermouse, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0Blech, US only.
- chris9902, on 10/12/2007, -4/+1web 2.0
(lets see if I go up or down.) - chris9902, on 10/12/2007, -8/+2"web 2.0"
not intrested. If you have a good idea don't make it a gimmick.
