- w3designer, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3The thing with this theme is that, like designr said, it’s the K2 framework that is impressive. Right out of the box its looks are pretty generic, but it's really up to the individual designer to customize it to fit their needs. With features such as AJAX commenting, live search, asides support, as well as many others, K2 offers features that other themes for Wordpress don’t have with out extensive hacking. Just look at the site linked to in this digg (binarybonsai.com.) It is built upon this supposed “lame & dull” template and is one of the best designed and functional blogs I’ve seen in a long time. From a developers standpoint this release is a significant step forward toward making Wordpress an even better blogging platform. I highly recommend checking this out.
- rc_collins, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Yea, just what I want, a theme/software from a company that doesnt support IE.
Right from there homepage "Binary Bonsai does not support Internet Explorer"
Sure, let me alienate 90% of the internet, that sounds like a great idea!

Ever heard of evolution? Unless we quit coding for Internet Explorer, it will continue to lag behind the standards. So quit bitching. - notkevin, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I dont understand what the big deal is.
- mr804, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1looks like ass
- lonelycanuck, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Will there be a blogger port?
- jdeehr, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1yea..so now everyones blog can all look the same again! No f'n digg
- lonelycanuck, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0There's unlikely to be a blogger port as K2 relies heavily on the inner functioning's of WordPress. I'm sure it would be easy enough to port the look but the features would be a whole different matter. And it's that which makes K2 stand out from the crowd.
Damnit. Setting up a wordpress blog is sooo hard. - scarycomp, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Just glancing at the K2 theme, it seems that the most obvious IE incompatibility issue is IE's lack of PNG transparency support. If this is the biggest problem, has someone tried Microsoft's DXImageTransform workaround? (http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;294714)
Here's a site that has code you can toss into your pages (or maybe plugin if your savvy) to allow IE to properly render PNG alpha transparency: http://homepage.ntlworld.com/bobosola/index.htm.
Hint, hint Mr. Heilemann. - Truegod, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1http://www.digg.com/links/K2_For_Wordpress_2.0_Coming_Tomorrow
It was already dugg to the front page that this would be coming out. Do we really need another story (3 days later) that it has come out? - ahmerhussain, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Looks like a few of the people at digg can't keep up with the fast release cycle for K2.
- tgumbel, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1This is not old news, this article is for the release of beta 2. I believe the other article was for the initial release of the theme for Wordpress 2.0. This is a excellent theme for Wordpress. I am using it here: http://digitaldelusion.net
- plaxx, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1looks like crap.
- rc_collins, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0ham_man: How is my site being broken going to cause an evolution? It is just going to make my site look like ass.
- schrodingercat, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0This is the K2 Beta Two version. In some ways, a dupe, cause do we really need a story for every new version of the coolest theme for WP2.0?
- pvera, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1I don't understand the ruckus, it is just one more WP theme that fanboys will d/l, keep for two hours and then move on to something else. It takes less than one hour to make your own WP theme (I made the theme for http://veraperez.com in just a few minutes), why not instead take a shot at it, make your own and then digg THAT. At least then you can at least show people something nobody has seen.
- stark23x, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1That's what everyone is raving about? A big blue block and some whitespace?
Wow. OK. - WizzleFish, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I love the template. It has multiple styles available all over the internet, and most of them work in IE. My website looks fine, except that the transparency doesn't work, but we can work with white. I've already been working on some of my own K2 styles. It's very flexible. Probably the most advanced WP template around.
My site: http://www.noenemies.com (still setting it up, but it gives you an example of what the template looks like. - asciident, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0It wasn't until I saw the comment that it's really a framework that I understood why everyone seems to be getting so excited by this theme. From the website and demo alone, it seemed pretty average. I do blog, and use WordPress, so I am interested...I just need a little more incentive to click through and start reading long feature lists. So thanks for that.
- tauquil, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1It's a move from a theme being just a superficial overhaul of a sites look to affecting the core functionality of a site.
Fair enough, it might not be that interesting if you're not involved in blogging/WordPress. In which case, just don't read it! To those that are K2 is a significant step. That's why I dugg it. - spyres, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1What a lame, dull template. Can't understand why anyone would be excited about it.
- spyres, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Yes, I used to have a blog.
And after seeing those links, I remain unimpressed.
I stand by my "lame" rating.
But if this sort of thing triggers an erection in certain folks, then more power to them. - aliencode, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1Obvious spam attempt.
- defylogik, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0wow sweet old news.
- MellerTime, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Wordpress rocks... K2 kicks ass... I'll digg it, and wish I could do so more than once.
- stigmergic, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Dugg it, downloaded it, installed it! This theme alone is a great reason to use WordPress.
- retsoced, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1Agreed. This template is horrible. No design went into the creation of it. I was going to say development, bu t then the fact that they are too lazy to support the internet and make it IE compatible, made me reconsider. This is a prime example of the garbage that clutters the web. It's fairly simple to write valid CSS across the board, especially when you look at how sophmoric that layout actually is. Anyone who actually thinks that "not coding" a lousy blog theme for IE will even grab the attention of an intern at Microsoft is dellusional, why should they care? Bill has the market share, even with the growing popularity of Firefox.
No digg. - shahid, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Yay! I can finally get to my homework now!
- fyre2012, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1the game these days seems to be
OMGIGOTDIGGEDONTHEFRONTPAGE!!!!
a cute little pissing contest... 'I GOT THE BERAKING NEWS!!'
which can, at times, actually mean: 'I SAT ON THEIR WEBSITE CLICKING REFRESH FOR HOURS UNTIL THE RELEASE EVERYONE KNEW ABOUT HAPPENED'

- wirjo, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Great theme.
- TehOompa, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Amazing Wordpress Theme.
- bball2, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0K2 is awesome! Go download it everybody!
- danielthor, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0I really like this theme, it's clean and stylish. I think I will use it on my own blog, but not untill it is out from the beta phase. There is still some functions missing that needs to be there for it to work (for me) in a "live" environment.
- Sumyunguy, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Ummm...like...it is a blue wordpress template...wow!
What is the big deal here? - eberth, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0nice :)
- shocktech, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0This was already up, no digg, reported.
