- javiero, on 01/27/2009, -1/+61Chrome is not that safe. if you do your research you will know that Chrome is a member of the transition metals, in group 6. Chromium(0) has an electronic configuration of 4s13d5, due to the lower energy of the high spin configuration it exhibits a wide range of possible oxidation states. The most common oxidation states of chromium are +2, +3, and +6, with +3 being the most stable. +1, +4 and +5 are rare. Chromium compounds of oxidation state +6 are powerful oxidants. So yeah, not all that.
- Dennisisok, on 01/27/2009, -9/+60I like Chrome...
- FBMGriever, on 01/27/2009, -6/+45Sad to say, but I use Chrome 90% of the time now. The only time I use Firefox is for Firebug stuff.
Chrome is just fast as hell. Once it gets some plugin support I think we might have a winner here. - RayRay12, on 01/27/2009, -14/+44I used chrome and it was ok, but once you go firefox you can't go..... need i say more
- Pishposh30, on 01/27/2009, -6/+30Viable?
...
you can check your webmail and view porn, what else do you need? - inactive, on 01/27/2009, -9/+31I switched from FF to Chrome and have not looked back!
- bradtothebone, on 01/27/2009, -1/+19What the *****, six?
- omgwtflawl, on 01/27/2009, -4/+20I love Chrome, but they need to get a few more features before I dump FF in earnest. I want more control over the main page thing, an ad-blocker (maybe they made a plugin? I'm not sure yet...), and more bookmark control/features.
- ausfahrt, on 01/27/2009, -1/+15Chrome boobies ...
- Nintendesert, on 01/27/2009, -4/+17Google making an ad-blocker or allowing one. It just doesn't seem natural.
- Scrappy1850, on 01/27/2009, -1/+14i went black one time, but i still like to... what were we talking about again?
- latrosicarius, on 01/27/2009, -7/+16you say interesting article, and then say its too long and you didn't read it. No wonder you want to switch. The article was very NPOV. There are many good things about Chrome. But the article also ripped it a new one in some areas.
- twiztidsinz, on 01/27/2009, -3/+12Not saying "The article was TL;DR"...
Just giving a TL;DR version. - lemur, on 01/27/2009, -4/+13Considering the fact that I use draconian methods of securing Firefox (white list for sites that can store cookies, white list for sites that can load plugins or run any scripts, black list for advertisements), running Chrome makes me feel less secure in that it allows everything to run--saves every cookie, loads every plugin, loads every ad. Chrome may be very secure, but the fact that it loads content that I don't trust changes the game entirely.
- thundercloud39, on 01/27/2009, -1/+9Reluctantly, I've become google's bitch. My mail, my contacts and calendar, my Picasa website, and now I use Chrome (or occasionally, firefox with googletoobar). Sometimes it frightens me just how much I depend on google, but then like whore drawn to crack, I ignore my better judgment and get hooked on another one of google's services. Ahhhhh Chrome ... so shiny and pretty.
- Shadic, on 01/27/2009, -5/+13Needs actual skinning support, as well as Adblock for me to use it.
- BlueStreak69, on 01/27/2009, -1/+8Google Chrome is a great browser. Sure it had its flaws at the beginning, but what program these days doesn't? It was in beta when most people got it. So far I haven't been seeing many problems because I stuck with the browser for just a bit longer than most people.
- MattB123, on 01/27/2009, -2/+9Once there is an ABP plugin I'll seriously consider Chrome.
- drikle, on 01/27/2009, -0/+6jpeg files aren't rendered, they are decoded...
- inactive, on 01/27/2009, -0/+6I named my dog browser.
- gdonald, on 01/27/2009, -1/+6Seeing how I'm using Linux at work and a Mac at home.. Chrome seems very secure.
- 7m7uf, on 01/27/2009, -1/+6Using Chrome Now. I usually use chrome at work and i use Firefox at home - if chrome gets flashBlock i would use it at home as well.
- roxgod666, on 01/27/2009, -1/+6Actually i switched pretty easily. Once i used chrome for a week, firefox started to seem slow and bloated. I will probably switch full time once the extensions come in.
- benologist, on 01/27/2009, -3/+8Browser security was already a top priority for every browser vendor out there. Google brought no attention to it.
- seraph741, on 01/27/2009, -0/+5switched from firefox to chrome. didn't like at first, but after using for a few days, couldn't go back to firefox. seems really bloated and slow after using chrome. only downside to me for chrome is extensions, but i don't really need those that much. i like minimalistic.
- saddino, on 01/27/2009, -0/+5Stainless (multi-process browser for OS X) + latest WebKit nightlies = pretty good simulation of Chrome
http://www.stainlessapp.com
http://www.webkit.org - dmeineck, on 01/27/2009, -0/+5I'm with you there, Firebug hands down is the best JavaScript debugger, despite it's occasional instability.
- brown2hm, on 01/27/2009, -1/+6I love using google chrome on my mac!
Oh wait... - se7envii, on 01/27/2009, -0/+5I can see myself using Chrome once they add more features and mature a bit. For now I still find Firefox to suit my needs the best. I'll switch if I see something better though.
- ausfahrt, on 01/27/2009, -0/+5Will never switch until full extensions. Don't understand who can browse without adblock.
- kontraire, on 01/27/2009, -1/+5Until chrome gets easy-to-use plugins, I'll stick with Firefox. As of right now, any browser without plugin support is effectively crippled.
- FlippityFlipz, on 01/27/2009, -5/+9I downloaded Chrome when its beta version came out and I didn't use it much at first but now I use it all the time. I like the fast load time and simplicity in appearance. I have like 6 browser toolbars in FF and well....meh
- Nephersir7, on 01/28/2009, -0/+4Yeah, I too found myself surprised of using Chrome 70%+ of the time, even with the Firefox icon laying just next to Chrome's. But its so fast and sleek, and it got perfect tab managing (except for reopening a closed tab). But I still do use Firefox for Linux, Ftp sites, and when i need my precious extensions
- cJw314, on 01/27/2009, -0/+4I didn't want too; I thought I'd miss adblock and mouse gestures too much... but I haven't, really, surprisingly. ADBlock is starting to hurt, though; I've seen more ads in the last 3 months than I have in years.
Chrome's speed/loading speed >>> FF speed/loading speed - MountinSheep, on 01/27/2009, -0/+4The ingognito mode is great for checking out some new porn sites.
- Chamrox, on 01/27/2009, -18/+22I liked Chrome, for about 2 weeks. There were too many sites that Chrome simply couldn't display so I went back to FF.
Other than that, it was a decent browser. - one1plus1one, on 01/27/2009, -0/+4Chrome boobies which need polishing:
I'd polish that off. - dmeineck, on 01/27/2009, -0/+4Interesting conclusion, can you give us some examples? I haven't noticed this, after extensive use.
- JonLatane, on 01/28/2009, -0/+4This is in the Firefox 3.1 beta builds, and has been in Safari for a looong time now. Personally, I find Safari still does it best (animation = hotness, and also makes what's happening more clear).
- FearlessFreep, on 01/27/2009, -0/+3Safari as well
- Leezus, on 01/28/2009, -0/+3Like chrome? Like Boobies?
Perhaps you should go over to the wrench and try out the "Incognito window." - ilikeeggs8877, on 01/27/2009, -0/+3they uh....well they look the exact same.
- pathy, on 01/27/2009, -1/+4The one thing I love most about Chrome is that I can 'rip' away tabs from windows, or combine them back again. I'm finding it hard to live without this feature, it's so useful.
- ohplease, on 01/27/2009, -1/+4
I used Chrome for awhile but got sick of it not loading pages and freezing up. - inactive, on 01/28/2009, -0/+3Those issues have all been addressed and fixed actually. I haven't found a website that Chrome couldn't display since then.
- FearlessFreep, on 01/27/2009, -1/+4people how know how to use a hosts file?
- cJw314, on 01/27/2009, -1/+4Enlighten us, Freep - share the wealth!
- FlippityFlipz, on 01/27/2009, -2/+5"It's" spelled correctly, just not used correctly.
- Treason, on 01/27/2009, -2/+5Hey ***** don't generalize us
- Zoplax, on 01/27/2009, -0/+3Chrome AdBlockToo Add-On
