- iknezek, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2That, without a doubt, is one of the coolest things i have ever seen. The next thing that they need to do is get more powerful jet engines so that he is able to climb and control his altitude. That would be just plain awesome.
- subversive1, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Now just add alcohol & guns =D
- TheWalkingDude, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Otto: You know, Bart, as the only adult here, I feel I should say something?
Bart: What?
Otto: COOOOOOOOL!!!!! - ezkiel, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1"idiots!! He could have maintained a 1/2 minute of flight with the wing suit by itself. No digg!"
idiot he maintained 1/2 minute of altitude. you are always falling with a bird suite. - BIllyBobFett, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1It seems that he really did what the headline said; that is human flight if he can keep a constant altitude.
Also, for everyone whose reaction was, "he's an idiot": you are what's wrong with the world. So many people don't believe that anything is worth taking a risk. You're like the Congress members who tried to slap heavy regulations on the space tourism industry literally a week after the X-Prize was won. That's right, I compared you to members of Congress. I think I've made my point. - hwood, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Were the engines made by Acme?
- chicomdk, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1"Hmmm courageous or stupid? :)"
there is a fine line - zenghost, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1this reminds me so much of those roadrunner/coyote cartoons....lol
+digg - ah802, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1The key here is refuel in-flight...
- PrettyBoyFloyd, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1The guy has balls (as well as lots of hot water bottles filled with kerosene). And no, Visa is not a candidate for the Darwin awards. Those are for the idiots who do this kind of stuff and fail. This fellow seemed to know exactly what he was doing and how to accomplish it. Quite an impressive feat of engineering.
But how come it took over two months for this to get posted? Seems like this should have been newsworthy back in October when it happened. - pacogozalez, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Very Cool !
Those engines are used for model aircraft. They are expensive and have very bad fuel efficecy due to the low compression ratio. Price about 1000$/piece at your local model-aircraft store.
They got only "nearly level flight" for a short time, but this is astoundingly awesome considering the bad aerodinamics. Definitively a "have to do" if i was 20 jears younger. - fightclub, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0those crazy europeans! LOL
he WAS still falling though. I mean he was falling diagnally.
- BaylorDawg, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0wow. That was freakin awesome. Those engines were sure generating alot of noise when he was testing them on the ground. I too would like to see him maintain altitude for longer than 30 seconds.
- zachgc, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I had flashes of Iron Man in my head while I was watching this... so freaking cool!!! I just don't like the idea of the fuel sacks being stuffed down my crotch. But to be honest, I can't really think of any place that would be a ton better.
- copperkidd, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I guess true SilverHawks aren't too far away :)
- digitalbuzz, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0"It's falling...with style!"
- vermin, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0LMAO "I like flying"
- Jammerdelray, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0wow simply amazing!
- wilf_brim, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I can decide if this is astoundingly awesome, or awesomely insane. Maybe both. He gets the fuel lines a little close to the engine and his last flight is going to be spectacular.
- camakajetli, on 10/19/2008, -0/+0this is like some kind of iron man *****
- matt0baba, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0nice
- Soccrmastr, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0me and my dad are planning on making a jetpack. sorta like this.
- nebbyfoshebby, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0That is pretty cool :) but only 1/2 minute at maintaing altitude is kinda.. short.. but still is freaking awesome!
- logosmonkey, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0That is damn cool a hearty +DIGG
- CrustyOldman, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0After over one hundred years of feeble attempts at flight, bird-man status has finally been achieved !
Wilbur and Orville Wright, Chuck Yeager, Neil Armstrong, Bryan Allen, Burt and Dick Rutan, move over. Another has joined your ranks. - cosmic, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0beyond cool
- designbydave, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0omfg
DEFINATELY digg++ - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Awsome! With some tweaking, and more fuel, he may be able to stay up for a while.
- havock, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Awesome.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Hmmm courageous or stupid? :)
- oldcyborg, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0The world NEEDs More failed Darwin candidates!!!! You notice that he never had a beer in his hand............
Why Not, I say~~?
cyborg - Philbert, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0"That's awesome! I'm sure women are lining up to have this guys children..."
Sure and they all tell him "I luv how l33t you are!" - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0hardcore
- bondg, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0@The Naysayers...
So he's not flying like Superman.... So damn what?! It's a damn sight better than any of you have ever flown. And it's one step closer to the real deal. - turgiddahlia, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0"Feets"?
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0they call this a capitalist country, wtf cant i buy these at walmart?
- Zippo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0***** A. Man finally invents rocket boots. Get me a pair.
- n0other, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0wtf are they running their server on? With all the diggers, I still got a solid 2mbps transfer!
- zippybean, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I want a jet pack.
- FullMetalMonkey, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0"When once you have tasted flight, you will forever walk the earth with your eyes turned skyward, for there you have been, and there you will always want to be."
-Leonardo DaVinci
Thought it fit the situation. - burningmonk, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0That's awesome! I'm sure women are lining up to have this guys children...
- Fynsk, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0This is so cool !!
Lucky for him is that the engine did not burn or explode. - EagleHail, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0This is awesome!
- imtigger2, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0this video TRULY shows what a bird-suit can do: http://www.bird-man.com/?n=fastestmfckr
Amazingly cool. - Jobble, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0And you thought getting bird crap on your car was bad. *shudder*
- bluedepth, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Watching this fellow commenting while the video played the thought occurred to me, "How many times has he landed on his head?"
He gets points for strapping Jet Fuel to his crotch. Rocketman for sure. :) - Osceola, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0idiots!! He could have maintained a 1/2 minute of flight with the wing suit by itself. No digg!
- ownedbytheman, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0My palms got sweaty watching that. I love his first words for the world "I was the ***** first one!".
If a guy fills hot water bottles with kerosene and stashes many of them under his jumpsuit as well as an accompanying ignition source, he can say whatever the hell he wants when it works. Good show! - Zanza, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0That look awsome! i would love to try doing that it look like so much fun! plus those jets he had were so small and so powerfull
- Postoasted, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Well I don't know how his flight went because his web page with the embedded videos just crashed.
