- Ricapar, on 10/12/2007, -3/+69Aw man, I read the title and for a second thought that they had been found, and that they looked happy afterwards.
I hope they show up soon :( - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+54Not likely. It's been over a week now.
I don't mean to be the bearer of bad news, but at some point you're just gonna have to call it. If they were around, they would've called someone by now.
Unless they're in a house somewhere and Kathy Bates is making him write articles for her. - hehe, on 10/12/2007, -2/+16@baugles
Yes, it's been over a week. But the article mentions a family that was stranded for 17 days on that same stretch and made it out alive. Doesn't meen it's likely that the Kims are alive, but there is some hope. - latca, on 10/12/2007, -1/+11James Kim used to be featured on TechTV reviewing gadgets.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9yes but that family was in an RV that was stocked with food and supplies, they even watched tv waiting to be rescued, I dont think that the Kim's Saab was as equipped.
- techwrekfix, on 10/12/2007, -5/+13I wished that I lived in the area. The more people searching the better.
- macgabriel87, on 10/12/2007, -2/+9everything in the title and description look positive to james kim's family... until the last 6 words:
late night drive in the rain
i suddenly feel that something is not right. - sockpuppets, on 10/12/2007, -5/+12What part of your post was constructive, kettle?
- shyguy01, on 10/12/2007, -2/+9Either you're being provocative, or you're just stupid - RTFA
"James Kim, 35, a senior editor at the tech-news site Cnet" - grrad, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7I lost one of my college professors and his entire family on the very same route. I also drive a similar model Saab, which is a nightmare to drive (despite winter tires) in just the tiniest bit of slippy-icy road.
Best of luck to James & family---hope you're okay out there. - shark615, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5I am not sure how you can coin that phrase until you define what "doing a James Kim" is...
- thetaco82, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5No you don't. I grew up in Roseburg, and it's an armpit.
- fohat, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4This just in "Three of four members of a California family that disappeared a week ago have been found, but the father is still missing, Oregon authorities say."
from cnn.com News Alert box at top of site. - sockpuppets, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4Give him time, he'll be here.
- canyonblue, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3FAMILY ALIVE!!! BReaking news, wife and daughters alive and rescued. James missing as he set out walking for rescue days ago!
- zdiggler, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3I hate headlines like that.. If they're still missing then they're still missing!
Everybody is fine/happy until some ***** happens to them.. Some time you're having a ***** time and then some ***** comes on your way and make it even more *****, if that what the authur is trying to say?
I hope they're OK. I really hope he bring some gadgets to save his family life in situation like this. - rpike, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Are we supposed to start looking?
- kman2k1, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Roseburg to Gold Beach: http://maps.google.com/maps?f=d&hl=en&saddr=roseburg,+or&daddr=Gold+Beach,+OR&sll=42.811522,-123.920288&sspn=1.384191,2.570801&ie=UTF8&z=9&t=h&om=1
- canyonblue, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Kati, daughters alive... James still missing. Live conference right now.
- spiffytech, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1James Kim works for Cnet and is a bit of a geek. He undoubtedly has the technology to get a hold of someone there, either via his cell phone's phone or data connection. The fact that he hasn't doesn't look good.
- fohat, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1It's true! It's on the CNN website in the top in yellow "News Alert" section
"Three of four members of a California family that disappeared a week ago have been found, but the father is still missing, Oregon authorities say." - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1wow
- Litespeed, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1If they are no longer alive, I just hope it was by accident rather than just being stuck. I can't bring myself to imagine being trapped in a car with your kids knowing that they won't live.
- JoeDuck, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Merlin Oregon Police Report at 5:15 pm Monday:
Kati Kim and kids are safe in hospital. James is still missing in Windy Creek Drainage but appears to have warm clothes. Trackers are working tonight and special support arriving soon. Search for James will continue around the clock until he's found. - canyonblue, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1ALIVE ALIVE ALIVE!!!!
- cmw72, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1*****
- Stonekeeper, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1"Some roads are near 4,000 feet in elevation and some sections have about 6 inches of frozen snow. Sno-Cats are being used in those areas."
:( - begbegbegbegbeg, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I love it when the lightweights start in with stuff like this.
Here's a scoop, Skeezix - the more untrained, unprepared city dwellers that you have out in a rugged area "helping" with a search, the more likely that a) they themselves get lost or injured and suck up precious resources, or b) they accidentally or unintentionally destroy or obscure important evidence/clues. All too often it's both a) and b).
I've had to deal with more than one party of "freelancers", and the results are rarely pretty. We required to TRAIN to do this kind of a job for a reason; if just anyone in a Subaru could do it, we'd have a lot more people to use in a search. - thetaco82, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Not that it really matters, but that building across the street from the swimming pool is Denny's. The lot to the left of the swimming pool is likely the gas station that they used.

- btgoss, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2no digg for buzz kill title
- Pother, on 10/12/2007, -7/+7A nice happy looking family that's missing!
Just search Digg or Google News for "kim family missing", and you'll get caught up. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1see, told you it publicity stunt!
- Deuterium, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Stupid Stupid Stupid city folks. They shouldn't let them drive in the country.
- rynoon, on 10/12/2007, -3/+2I know. When he proclaimed that he would post his *****-list in every James Kim related article he had no idea just how daunting that task would be. If they're not found by tomorrow he may have to use up a sick day to keep his holier than thou crusade alive.
- budyhead, on 10/12/2007, -6/+5This sucks man, I am starting to have a bad feeling...
- chicken101, on 10/12/2007, -4/+2Wow, that was completely irrational.
- rynoon, on 10/12/2007, -9/+6This is not news. When and if they are found, that will be news. All of these dupes and useless tidbits of information are just people whoring their way to the front page of digg. Perhaps ol' bill should be blocking them, too.
- jsbarone, on 10/12/2007, -7/+3I betcha they're all at Wally World right now, having a grand ol' time.
Just you wait! - matstars, on 10/12/2007, -7/+3meh
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -6/+1LOL THAT IS SO FUNNY. Thnx for the laugh
- shark615, on 10/12/2007, -8/+3There has been AT least 1 article if not more a day about this for the last week and you STILL haven't googled it?
Learn to help yourself, google is your friend. - macfanboi, on 10/12/2007, -10/+4I blame Nancy Grace.
- sockpuppets, on 10/12/2007, -13/+7He's the lost white girl of the nerd world. Seriously, learn to search.
- sockpuppets, on 10/12/2007, -10/+4Do you go around the rest of your life being painfully obvious to people around you? Be careful, that coffee is hot! Hey, that light is red, better stop!
Lol at the replies in these Kim threads. - vhtrading, on 10/12/2007, -10/+3I'm hoping and praying for the Kim family as much as the next guy, but enough of the non-news. What's next, his mole looked happy, too?
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -13/+4pretty sure CNET fake this for publicity stunt, then BAM he come out of nowhere.
- emorphien, on 10/12/2007, -14/+5you and me both, I was thinking "well no chit they'd be happy if they were saved"
dang - razordancer, on 10/12/2007, -12/+3Something isn't right... 'Late night drive in the rain' isn't 7 words!
Edit: You edited that! > - davAbran, on 10/12/2007, -12/+2One would think a person that is on the internet as much as James Kim would eventually stumble on an article about him missing. As baugles says its not looking good.
