- koregaonpark, on 10/12/2007, -2/+46Chaser12, you seem to have your dates mixed up. Torrentspy will be uploading it on the 29th of November.
- flag564, on 10/12/2007, -9/+52"why do use Microsoft?"
Because maybe, if you can wrap your head around the concept, their OS and apps are actually stable. Yeah, I know, if you hang around here enough, you would think that nothing from MS works.
Its a lie. - maverick808, on 10/12/2007, -2/+33How much you got?
- NSMike, on 10/12/2007, -1/+31Just to be clear, this is not an early release - the business release was always slated for Q4 2006. The consumer editions are still slated for release in 07.
- Saint3k, on 10/12/2007, -5/+35It's official - I will have NO MONEY come Christmas.
- estvir, on 10/12/2007, -4/+33Me too, I mean, it's not like they said months ago it would launch in November for businesses. :o
- hackmyballs, on 10/12/2007, -10/+37Open Source welcomes you for what you are, not for the size of your wallet.
- dawgma, on 10/12/2007, -5/+32Woah. Didn't see that one coming.
- estvir, on 10/12/2007, -5/+29> 4 dialogue boxes to even MOVE a file from one directory to another
That's an outright lie and you know it. You just drag and drop, lying whore.
> frequent crashes with video and parsing thumbnails in directors
The default video drivers do not have those issues though the most recent public Nvidia/ATi ones are horrible for anything besides absolute basic use.
> The whole Explorer shell is buggy as f****.
No, not really.. - TheThirdWheel, on 10/12/2007, -0/+24Depressions are caused by increased spending? Whoa, we should all stop buying stuff, the stock market will skyrocket!
- expunged, on 10/12/2007, -8/+28No- it was supposed to be released in 2003.
So, after a couple of overhauls, a name change and scads of dropped features later, we are being promised delivery of a small subset of an OS that was originally supposed to be delivered 3 years ago.
Yeah. I'll get right on that. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+20First cracking group to post a keygen is the most elite!
- Soulhuntre, on 10/12/2007, -1/+20"Because maybe, if you can wrap your head around the concept, their OS and apps are actually stable."
But, but, but Slashdot and Digg would never lie to me! - iLemon, on 10/12/2007, -0/+19Awsome. Now if they can release the Directx 10 cards I will be on my way to PC gaming nirvana.
- JeffMcKamey, on 10/12/2007, -4/+21It comes with a free copy of Duke nukem forever!
- threemagic, on 10/12/2007, -0/+14Vista RC2 runs well on my Mac Pro (yes, I am serious).
- mfratt, on 10/12/2007, -9/+22Holiday Special: Get Vista Ultimate for free via your favorite torrent site!
- JorgeGT, on 10/12/2007, -3/+16Microsoft is very tolerant and friendly!
They don't look at the color of your skin, they just look at the color of your money! :-D - Kamujin, on 10/12/2007, -1/+13Been running Vista as my primary OS since Beta 2.
It was too slow and glichy at Beta 2, but at RC2 is very very nice.
There are still some older programs that won't install / run with Vista which will definitely be a problem for some. I suspect there will be some upset about this. I have 1 important program that I run in an XP VM still. - iBrent, on 10/12/2007, -1/+12Vista Basic: Suggested retail price for full package product, $199.00 USD. Suggested upgrade retail price, $99.95 USD.
Vista Premium: Suggested retail price for full package product, $239.00 USD. Suggested upgrade retail price, $159.00 USD.
Ultimate: Suggested retail price for full package product, $399.00 USD. Suggested upgrade retail price, $259.00 USD. - thushan, on 10/12/2007, -2/+13good luck with your big mac...
would you like fries with that? - cuzican, on 10/12/2007, -0/+10can't wait to see what holiday specials are coming..
- ZeroG52, on 10/12/2007, -1/+10I love the Google ad at the top....
"Download Windows Vista
Free Download Windows Vista New Versions and Activation Steps"
Hmmmmmm - Kamujin, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9Show me a machine that hasn't been rebooted since 2000 and I'll show you an admin who doesn't realize their OS has security patches too.
- pabster, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8True. I have Vista running very nicely with a mere 512MB in a Virtual Machine. And it runs quite well.
- MooseFruit, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8MS said MSDN will get it RTM + 1 week.
- iBrent, on 10/12/2007, -2/+10Same price as XP.
- sishgupta, on 10/12/2007, -3/+10One will likely see it a week or more before nov 30 as the RTM release must come much earlier and that is where the likely leak will be from.
- Pwelborn1, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8Ultimate will not be out until 2007. This is only a CORPORATE release. The only VLK version will be Enterprise.
BTW: the new VLK management software is unlike anything Microsoft has used before. I attended a WebCast for Educational customers. They are no longer releasing 1 VLK for an organization now licenses will be server managed. - macbookpromat, on 10/12/2007, -3/+10Digg this down, accidental post.
- Branden, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8What the hell do you do online, zongamin? Download GetFreePorn.exe?
- MooseFruit, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6RTM will be available any day now. They have been releasing incremental builds weekly on Wednesdays but they skipped yesterday for some reason. Wouldn't be surprised if it was released today in fact.
- DrivinWest, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6My Shuttle SB86i with 1GB RAM, ATI 1800XL, and Pentium D 630 gets a 4.2/5 in the Vista RC2 hardware test. I had the identical machine running OS X (10.4.7) and both were equally snappy by seat of the pants measure.
My point: hardware requirements were extreme in the Vista Beta days but since RC1 the OS seems to have improved dramatically on that front. - angelof, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7I don't think Microsoft prepackages the viruses themselves. I do believe Vista will be more resilient to viruses than XP is.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7holy ***** $400?!?!?
- geoken, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6Nvidia is supposed to be launching their new 8800 series next week (Nov. 8th).
- h4rdcor3, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5wonder when my MSDNAA will get it
- akinder, on 10/12/2007, -4/+8No, most of us are just tired of seeing mindless Microsoft bashing by the OSS/Mac zealots. It's funny the first 1,000,000 times, but it's gotten pretty old.
- Barbarino, on 10/12/2007, -4/+8Never buy a car in it's 1st model year and never install an OS in it's 1st release..
- Acrion, on 10/12/2007, -2/+6I've found Vista to be very reliable and stable so far. All of the hardware on every computer works (except for a kworld tv card). It will be better once NVIDIA gets more stable drivers for it with OpenGL support. ATI is even worse off right now. I'll definately be upgrading from XP Pro.
Office 2007 has been good and reliable. Outlook 2007 is crap though, nice features but unstable and laggy. I still prefer other email clients. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -4/+8*cough* Astroturfing *cough cough*
- Yogurth, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4From What I understand all Vista realeases will be the same, meaning Home Disc will be exactly the same as Ultimate, except for Serial Number. So The determening factor will be Your code not the package. And if it is so, that enterprise release will infact be Ultimate but with different set of keys.
- geoken, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4google "nvidia 8800". All the major sites have the full specs released and some are even claiming leaked prices.
http://www.theinquirer.net/default.aspx?article=35499 - jaypee68, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5It was always going to be released for corporate customers in November. The reason it's releasing later for consumers and OEM's is because MS released final code too late for the OEM's to customize it for their systems in time for an xmas launch. Although I'm not sure what that has to do with releasing it late for Joe Blow off the street that wants to upgrade his homemade PC.
- Zippo, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5I just want Microsoft to release a Universal version of Office for Mac... hopefully early next year.
- r3zonance, on 10/12/2007, -9/+12I'll believe it when I see it.
- DrivinWest, on 10/12/2007, -3/+6Even if Vista retail isn't buggy (RC2 is fairly decent by my book) I'd still suggest giving other options a gander. I'm not a Linux fan myself but it works for many. Apple is Apple. You have to buy new hardware but the OS is a thing of beauty both aesthetically and functionally.
When it comes to personal computing there is no "best" overall. All have strengths and weaknesses. Pick your poison. - badtz, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Macbook + OS X + Vista + Linux = yum!
- kf_man, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I'll second that comment, I love MSDNAA (Academic Alliance)!
