- jsdratm, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5Oops, I was doing this for a while and didn't know that it was a no-no. Yahoo's ads look exactly the same as google's.
- jsully, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Wake me up when they remove the clause that states "can't contain profanity"... I mean honestly google...

- wingnut21, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Those are the things that make websites, TV, radio, and other things free. Why does everyone act so clever by installing a damn plugin?!
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1How do you define what extent an unit can look similar to google? Basically most ad companies are copying the look of google or rather they all look similar, so Google can now terminate your account because your running two ad units on a page - one could be google, the other could be chikita. And google would say that the Chikita ad looks too similar to the google ad, and since you can't really modify the actual design of these ad units (besides changing the color) - you're basically at a loss. Google is testing the public to see how lenient we will be to them, give them an inch and they'll take a mile!
- jsdratm, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2You wouldn't call it useless if you were making $1200/month from advertisements. Money that is made by doing nothing is so much more satisfying to spend!
- matt.rubin, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Tell me when you can put absence on myspace ;)
- kh77, on 10/12/2007, -3/+4Good news. Google didn't actually tighten their rules for competing ads on the same website (previously: page), they changed them. This means that YPN can now be used on the same page as adsense (as far as google is concerned, yahoo still doesn't allow it). It's just that ads that are styled too much like adsense aren't allowed ON THE SAME SITE.
- mbthompson, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Yahoo, Text Link Ads, anyone else know of any others?
- rbanffy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1What are the main competitors to AdSense?
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1wtf makes it official?
- jinglee, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I always hoped it would someday..
Also, when Microsoft can be pulled up for monopolizing things, it was bound to happen to Google someday..and this would have been a strong point against them. - Aux88, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2Just what everyone needs in their life, more ads.
- VahidChaychi, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Although now you are allowed to have other contextual ads on the same page as Adsense but I am sure you will earn the same as when you have only Google Adsense on the your web page. Google can easily track that you have other other contextual ads on your web pages and so will decrease your commission dramatically. Even having more ordinary internal or external links on the pages will decrease the commission you can earn from Adsense.
- JavertHolmes, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1@jsdratm -- seeing as how I replied to the wrong spot.
"You wouldn't call it useless if you were making $1200/month from advertisements."
This is why I said "What this translates to for *end users* is that more useless ***** than ever is now allowed on your screen." I completely realize that the people hosting love ads. It doesn't mean end users do by any means. If they did, companies like Tivo would be out of business. - JavertHolmes, on 10/12/2007, -3/+2What this translates to for end users is that more useless ***** than ever is now allowed on your screen. Kind of like the networks celebrating their useless bugs ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Digital_on-screen_graphic ). Rejoice!
- alwaysmc2, on 10/12/2007, -12/+1hehe, I don't see banner adds nearly as much now that I got the IE7pro plugin for IE7. :)
