- jsp123, on 10/12/2007, -0/+11Someone else's max bid was 309, and eBay sniped it at the last second and got it for 310...
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+10Interesting. Never heard of stubhub before. /shrug

- sockpuppets, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5This is *great* news! I expect a healthy increase in dyslexic traffic to my stbuuhb.com website. Thanks, eBay!
- HoosbinPharteen, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6Another decent service to be completely ruined by ebay. *rolleyes*
- bram, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5A scalpers dream. ebay + stubhub!
- G2SF, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5Each night Meg Whitman and Bill Cobb perhaps go to bed dreaming up what they can do for shareholders at the expense of eBay's community of sellers. Each morning when Meg and Bill awaken, the first thing they may do over coffee is imagine what they can do for shareholders at the expense of eBay's community of sellers. Survey after survey, focus group after focus group, they only hear what they want to hear. The ranks of eBay employees are filled with arrogant H1B holders from India with MBAs and little or no experience as either eBay buyers or sellers and zero loyalty to the eBay community. Because of their bloated academic but unimaginative staffing policy there is an absence of good ideas that come from insight and both depth and breadth of experience. Bright people like Jeff Jordan end up leaving for some reason or another. Consequently, the only thing Meg has to fall back on is acquiring, smaller, more agile, more customer-centric companies. She hit a single grand slam with PayPal and acquisition is the only trick in her bag. (Not so lucky with Skype) But even PayPal will face increasing competition from Visa when the cell-phone as credit card is launched. It doesn't matter how much Meg or Bill would like to restrict eBay buyers and sellers to using PayPal exclusively. The only reason Meg didn't jump ship to Disney in my view, is that such a move would have soon exposed her genius for what it truly is. Lucky timing. She happened to come along at the right time and her only previous claim to fame was pushing Stride Rite shoes to dorky kids. Here's the pattern: Pay more for a company than it's worth in the hopes it will become the next PayPal. In the meantime, pass all the expenses on to eBay sellers. Repeat until the exodus of sellers reaches a tipping point and the board fires you. Retire happy, like that other genius of the HP "Invent" campaign, Carly Fiorina.
- HoosbinPharteen, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4In short, I agree. Get rid of the woman.
- supperman, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3I hate people who buy tickets just so that they can sell it for a profit. Teams keep the ticket prices low to allow fans to enjoy the games, but these people would snap them all up, such that only rich people can enjoy live sports/concerts. So even if you can afford the scalped tickets, the money will just go on to line the pockets of these despicable people and not to the teams that we support. What I don't understand is that even though such practices are outlawed in many places in the US, I see scalpers all the time, even in the presence of cops in the area.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3and comments that state the obvious....
- MemoryDump, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2amazing.. I never even heard of StubHub.. and now (thxs to digg) I find it it's sold for 310million dollars..
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3They will make that cash one one day of upping the price to list items. No biggie!
- addictedidol, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Sleep Junkie , just use amazon :)
- rasterbator, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1THIS IS HUGE! Steve Young is a multi-millionaire...
again!! - m00dy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1anybody buying ebay stock?
- Farmer77, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Ah crap, that sucks. I actually use StubHub. Now they are going to nickel and dime me to death.
- carloscuderia, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1What was the reserve??
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Then he'd just start spamming his blogger links. (Didn't see the spammer just guessing I have him blocked). You can always email myspace and they ban him within a few hours btw.
- jaisonline, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0evil,
i'm also concerned about this. i hope stubhub influences ebay ticket processes and not vice versa. - thelynx, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1I think the community has expressed their severe dislike of advertising via comments, regardless of the nature of that which is advertised.
- FUElitists, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0now stubhub will blow and be full of scammers. ***** ebay needs to be shut down.
- BullTaco, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0StubHub charges sellers 15% and buyers 10%, so they pull a 25% markup for a service with a pretty low barrier to entry.
Hopefully EBay will be forced to lower the 25% surcharge at some point.
There are obviously other means to obtain event tickets than paying this tax.
There is also the issue of spammers being compensated by StubHub for redirecting traffic to the site. Hopefully EBay will catch some flak on this if the problem persists. - jaisonline, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0i sell on both stubhub and ebay. on stub, i have a largeseller account on stub and am a silver power seller on ebay.
the avg price for tickets shouldn't be impacted for the general public. if anyone should be concerned, it's the legit broker and i'm happy about that. tix on stubhub and ebay pretty much sell for less than broker-based stores and web sites.
if anything, ebay buyers AND SELLERS should be happy because now more tix sold on the web will have 100% fan protection. - EvilScooby, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Another great internet enterprise tainted by Ebay
- jaisonline, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0bull,
stub does charge an excessive total fee of 25%. their 15% seller fee kills me. however, stub needs that fee because of their costly but excellent customer service and 100% fan protection policy. on avg, ebay and paypal fees total 8% to 12%. w/ ebay's latest fee increases, it will prob be around 15%.
i have no prob w/ redirection ad links to stubhub. maybe i'm bias because i'm a seller. at least it's a legit business people are being redirected to. additionally, i haven't seen email spammers for stubhub. however, i do know that they use legit public ad companies like double-click. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -8/+1Wow, that was obnoxious.
I am digging up this parent just so that it'll take one more down-digg to get it out of everyone's view. What can I say, I'm feeling anti-social tonight. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -12/+1with deals like this how did they come up with 310, u r telling me if they offered 300 they would say no
