- bennyboy371, on 10/12/2007, -10/+16SOME people might actually enjoy this, otherwise it wouldn't have hit the front page. Believe it or not, theres an entire industry around comics and plenty of people who are interested in them.
- Estazor, on 11/08/2007, -4/+6* Walks through the graveyard of comments. *
- cds0528, on 11/08/2007, -5/+4holy crap
- ThinkBox, on 10/12/2007, -6/+1Looks like a bury war is brewing!!! Perfect time to promote my own stories!!
I'll get dugg up for sure!
http://digg.com/offbeat_news/50_Best_Restaurants_in_the_World_06 - cds0528, on 10/12/2007, -7/+2Bookmark this thread too, All the comments are buried again, we're definitely developing a trend here...
- newbietheatre, on 10/12/2007, -7/+2Nice. Looks like there is some anti-comic folks storming Digg today. Keep burying, *****.
- HelioHelio, on 10/12/2007, -7/+2Mwosh - I think it helps if you keep in mind it's a brand new site. Thresholds will necessarily be low for new sites.
- Lumiras, on 10/12/2007, -7/+2IGN has a pretty good comics section. They review just about every comic that comes out every week. But, other than that, News-a-Rama and CBR are just about it, but it's not like they're doing a bad job at it
- newbietheatre, on 10/12/2007, -6/+1Tandaemonium, the three you mentioned and PopCultureShock are the sites whose feeds I subscribe to.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -8/+3what is a popular comic by scott adams?
time paradox! - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -10/+5yeah, competition never made anything better, not cars or planes or computers or cloths or prices or...well, you get the point
- geodescent, on 10/12/2007, -11/+6Sounds like a good idea. Aside from Penny Arcade, VG Cats, and CTRL+ALT+DEL, what are some other good comics?
- Satanael, on 10/12/2007, -6/+1Chuck Norris says: "LOL!"
- HelioHelio, on 10/12/2007, -6/+1Yeah, but there is certainly more news out there than is just covered by the two or three main comic news sites. With comics getting so much main stream press, and comics seeing translation into video games, TV/Film, manga, etc ... there's a lot of stuff out there worth checking out.
- L84AD8, on 10/12/2007, -7/+2to all the comic haters out there you guys are being dumb! Come on its not like this is a major rip off of Digg. No more so than a magaizen like Wizard is a rip off of Time or People. This one has a reason for being. Digg is mostly tech stories and some intresting things but not much in the way of comic book news. I could easily see a Digg like podcast show using this new comic site as its feeder. I don't get the anti-comic book people out there. Its lame and dumb to hate comics.
- friend18, on 10/12/2007, -6/+1Holy *****, this page must have the highest rate of downdiggs ever. Sensitive nerds.
- zforrester, on 10/12/2007, -9/+4cool site, but I hat comic sans
most overused font ever - Naga10, on 10/12/2007, -7/+2I currently have the RSS feeds for:
Megatokyo ( - Tandaemonium, on 10/12/2007, -6/+1Sonofa...I was in the middle of making my own kind of comic type of news site like this...but with more of a message board community-ness than news/comments...a combination of digg and televisionwithoutpity.com For example for each issue of whatever comic would get its own "story" and discussion on that specific issue/book/toy/movies/tv/whatever is limited to there for discussion. It could also be used by the various comic publishers as some additional market research.
In addition it would also have the news stories/blogs/whatever from the various comic sites which was really the main idea behind this because most of the comic sites out there, as good as the content may be, the sites are stuck in 1995, no RSS, and disastrous presentation of content. It's become an annoyance having to go every one of these sites to read their news, instead of one convenient location (in addition to avoiding all the out-of-control ads and banners - I'm looking at you Comics Continuum).
Fan art, pro art, comic related movie/tv reviews, writers/artist discussion - all in their own separate homes.
Ah well. - UberFuzzy, on 10/12/2007, -7/+2xkcd.com
johnandjohn.nl - mfratz, on 10/12/2007, -6/+1Just a lame Digg knockoff.
- zforrester, on 10/12/2007, -7/+2I think the comments are being gamed.
- theunderground5, on 10/12/2007, -6/+1idk about a comic section because comic news really doesn't get posted that often and digg wants to keep the categories simple but if u like comics and u want a news site like digg centered around comics then this would prob be the way to go
- newbietheatre, on 10/12/2007, -6/+1Like Luminras said - the comicbook industry is covered by a handfull of websites, and I subscribe to those websites RSS feeds. So I really won't use this site, but it's kind of cool.
- Lumiras, on 10/12/2007, -8/+3I'm not sure how exciting this site is going to get. Most of the news in the comics industry is covered by just a few sites, so you'd probably benefit better from just putting those few sites in an RSS reader
Still, I may check it out from time to time to stay updated.
Also....why doesn't Digg have a comic books section? We have room for a sports section, but no comics? come on. - ThinkBox, on 10/12/2007, -7/+2you're quick
- Tandaemonium, on 10/12/2007, -6/+1What sites are these?
I can only think of three (Newsarama, CBR, and ComicBloc) that actually know what RSS is and one of them doesn't really count because they haven't done ***** with it in like three years. - mikeylopez, on 10/12/2007, -6/+1that site is not the man now dog
- theunderground5, on 10/12/2007, -8/+3i'm not going to be all like OMG OMG OMG!!!!! THE'RE COPYING DIGG, i give them props for trying something new, if u like comics u should check it out it doesn't seem like they are trying to compete with digg at all they just wanted something simler for comics and scence a comic section really wouldn't fit too well into digg this is actually a good idea.
- Awap, on 10/12/2007, -7/+2When I get to work it goes like this:
toothpastefordinner.com and related comics
questionablecontent.net
whiteninjacomics.com
xkcd.com
penny-arcade.com (after lunch, they update late) - mwosh, on 10/12/2007, -11/+5I dont understand what good a digg site does if the front page stories are 8 diggs. Doesn't that kind of defeat the purpose? Hard to be a social news site if you have no society.
- kingatrock, on 10/12/2007, -7/+1good god, and i thought digg was nerdy!
- diafel, on 10/12/2007, -7/+1Someone had some fun with this before: http://a2305sdafds.ytmnd.com/
- HelioHelio, on 10/12/2007, -8/+2Ahh Dinosaur Comics ... I haven't checked that out in a while. Not bad.
Megatokyo is also very good - http://www.megatokyo.com/ - although I prefer reading the printed collections. - jweis, on 10/12/2007, -9/+3CBR kicks ass!
- boozedrinker, on 10/12/2007, -7/+1DAMNIT, I couldn't find anything on Archie.
- HelioHelio, on 10/12/2007, -9/+3If ever there was a category that could benefit from a Digg like site, it's comics. Worth watching.
- Junkyarddawg, on 10/12/2007, -9/+3I like Dinosaur Comics ( http://www.qwantz.com/ ). Weird but good.
- rig0rmortis, on 10/12/2007, -9/+3Explosm.net? Cyanide and Happiness is amazing.
