- blogfuse, on 10/15/2008, -4/+30What an awesome initiative! Poverty is such a huge topic that deserves a huge conversation.
- Nouman6, on 10/15/2008, -2/+20ya, this deserves the front page.
Awesome idea. - fdw2006, on 10/15/2008, -2/+17Unfortunately, my fear is that most people will skim this and go back to their TPS reports. My hope however is that a small percentage of the readers actually does something...
- soniasimone, on 10/15/2008, -3/+14Can't think of a better site to make Digg front page.
- Easton, on 10/15/2008, -1/+12More than 40 people in Austin, Texas are doing a ton of stuff together for Blog Action Day 2008. We've seen many other inspiring examples. I hope people do change their perspective and take more action from now on. None of us should feel content until the world is rid of poverty.

I guarantee if you write a blog you have NO IDEA what anything even close to poverty is like. - pabflia, on 10/15/2008, -1/+11support a great cause
- joshuawest, on 10/15/2008, -0/+9It's not about doing something, it's about writing about doing something ;)
- simplyarun, on 10/15/2008, -2/+10Great initiative! This has to make it to the homepage!
- torrentfreak, on 10/15/2008, -1/+8Go donate your piracy savings!!
http://torrentfreak.com/donate-your-piracy-savings ... - maadcat, on 10/15/2008, -1/+8Great idea!!
- notadiggtard, on 10/15/2008, -1/+8Wow what an awesome idea!It makes people feel like they've accomplished something without really helping at all! It's the thought that counts though.
- learningmom, on 10/15/2008, -2/+8Each one of us is a domino tipping over hundreds more, we're making a difference!
- DIGGANGEL, on 10/15/2008, -0/+6I know how poverty looks like because I have been there! That is why I joined wholeheartedly, and I hope that if someone do not want help, then respect the ones who like.
If you cannot do anything nice, then do not do it here.
You can find my entry here - http://fatherblogger.com/2008/10/15/family-against ... - ExpatJane, on 10/15/2008, -1/+7I did it last year and I'm in again this year. Hopefully, if you've got a blog, you're contributing to the conversation too.
- gcnaddict, on 10/15/2008, -1/+7I had no idea about this.
This'll probably be the only non-Microsoft post my site will be posting this year. Thanks for the heads up. - coachdes, on 10/15/2008, -1/+7it's certainly made me think about ways in which we can make a difference - and has encouraged me to take action
- nickdotvr, on 10/15/2008, -1/+6I don't consider myself much of a blogger by any means, yet even something as simple as writing ABOUT this can make a difference if out of 30 people (if even) that read my blog 20 ignore it, 5 actually read past the title and 1 DOES something, having become aware.
- spyece, on 10/15/2008, -0/+5Damn! You rock. I'll surely participate in this action.
- serth, on 10/15/2008, -0/+5Amazing! I'm going to blog about this!
- OgniAsuob, on 10/15/2008, -1/+6dugg & stumbled!
- 2brother, on 10/15/2008, -2/+7VOICE + ACTION = RESULT That should be todays moto.....
- annjay, on 10/15/2008, -1/+6Great cause!
- ansatsu29, on 10/15/2008, -1/+5This is great..Thanks for letting us know. I'll be doing also a blog about this and poverty.
- ChstrCopperpot, on 10/15/2008, -0/+3"Poverty" is a bigger problem than can be solved with just handout money raised by charities. Most homeless are mentally ill and sick (with no medical insurance), there is worldwide famine caused by regimes in 3rd-world countries, global recession, etc. These are problems that can only be fixed by major changes in government. Not your Twitter feed.
- rori76, on 10/15/2008, -1/+5Great idea, great cause. I give my little contribution
- ioni3000, on 10/15/2008, -2/+6No.
- tchiseen, on 10/15/2008, -0/+4You're spot on mate. It's not just about being aware, it's about being willing to share. If we all do what we can to spread the word, we'll surprise even ourselves with what we can do.
- angeleulises, on 10/15/2008, -1/+5Una causa generosa y noble.
- app103, on 10/15/2008, -0/+4Just because someone is on the internet doesn't mean they are loaded with cash.
I banged out my participating blog post on an 11 year old computer which was rescued from the curb. It was uploaded over a 33.6k dialup connection.
I have been living well below the poverty line for a long time. I am more than qualified to write about it. - carnellm, on 10/15/2008, -0/+4Killer idea and way to get the word out. Wipe out world poverty!
- georanson, on 10/15/2008, -2/+6Great idea!!!! I will register right away an start posting
- Aquilla, on 10/15/2008, -0/+4This is an opportunity for charities who don't often get talked about or get the limelight to get a bit of attention and support, traffic to their sites and donations from the public - That is a useful action!
I blogged for Blog Action day: http://scienceforseo.blogspot.com/2008/10/geeks-fi ... - ankeshk, on 10/15/2008, -1/+5Most bloggers who are writing the posts on poverty are also talking about their fav nonprofit company - like kiva.org or cry.org
A few thousand dollars have been raised already. Which changes lives for a few hundred people.
What have you done to help rather than just posting a pessimistic put-down comment on digg? - sandygautam, on 10/15/2008, -0/+4The most important thing is to overcome the stigma associated with poverty and to expose the self-rationalizations of those who are relatively well-off. To this end, I have posted a blog entry that exposes the myth of low IQ as a cause of poverty and lower life expectancy; rather showing that it is the other way round and that poverty is indeed a cause of low IQ and not the other way round.
http://the-mouse-trap.blogspot.com/2008/10/blog-ac ... - gilbitron, on 10/15/2008, -2/+5Lets get people talking!
- Alyssajh7, on 10/15/2008, -0/+3We're on board here in the indie music world! We're challenging artists and fans to use music to unite people against poverty! Check out the OurStage post www.blog.ourstage.com!
- dcinmich, on 10/15/2008, -0/+3Woo-hoo! Let's hit the front page peoples! Show the Web World that poverty means more than 'The 10 Best Photoshop Plugins' or '100 Fancy Web Graphics'
- ankeshk, on 10/15/2008, -2/+5Action initiated by 6 people with candles toppled the Berlin wall. Can action by a thousand bloggers on 15th October mark the end of poverty?
- Aquilla, on 10/15/2008, -0/+3Write something on your blog about a cause that matters to you to do with poverty. My blog is about computing stuff so I wrote about a charity who gives away free computers to those who can't afford them.
- somethingsimple, on 10/15/2008, -2/+5Great initiative! Digg.com homepage: here we come! :)
- app103, on 10/15/2008, -0/+3It's more than that. The blogs involved have pledged not just to write about it but to also donate the day's earnings from their blogs to help wipe out poverty. For some sites, that is a lot of money.
I am participating in it, myself, and plan on donating much more than the day's earnings, since I think donating $0.67 would be an embarrassment.
What makes this more powerful than just bloggers writing and donating, is the readers taking action, as well. We can all do something and many of the participating blogs will give you plenty of ideas for what you can do to help.
Just keep reading posts from blogs participating till you find one that inspires you. - leemilthorpe, on 10/15/2008, -1/+4It's a fantastic initiative! Hope you rach the target and help make the world a better place!
- BethBlair, on 10/15/2008, -0/+3Brilliant.
- GreenFunk, on 10/15/2008, -1/+4Yep - great idea.
- arma, on 10/15/2008, -0/+3Happy Blogaction Day Everyone!
- ivanshih, on 10/15/2008, -0/+3What a great idea!!!
- milobennett, on 10/15/2008, -0/+3Never mind blogging, vote to quit giving all your income to the government. I spent 10 minutes after opening time waiting and 20 minutes in line at the post office today sending nearly 5 grand to the government. What is wrong with this picture. Government is not the cure for poverty it is the cause.
- newsnows, on 10/15/2008, -0/+3Great Idea.
Must go beyond the front page. We can Stop human poverty and suffering! - dazzlindonna, on 10/15/2008, -0/+3DeathJux, I guarantee you are wrong. Many of us DO know what poverty is like. In addition, each and every person in this world can help eliminate poverty - and together - we can do a lot more. So before you spout off about what you "think you know" how about reading some of the posts that are participating first. You might learn something. And then maybe you can join us in the fight.
