- cameron074, on 10/12/2007, -45/+126first I've heard of this, pretty ***** up. Iran really needs to be taken care of.
- mpmb, on 10/12/2007, -29/+82well, technically it IS real news ... they just present it in a "non-mainstream" way.
- dmurray14, on 10/12/2007, -36/+85It's IRAN, idiot.
- wilkeson, on 10/12/2007, -17/+64It's not that bad, they're just pieces of flair. They want to express themselves don't they?
(oh man am I kidding, this is actually quite alarming.) - jerseyg, on 10/12/2007, -18/+63terrible... just awful. As a grandchild of Holocaust survivors I am horrified
- hyperstation, on 10/12/2007, -16/+52How can we be peaceful about the next Hitler? We don't really have a choice if this continues...
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -8/+44I have no idea what you just said, but I did come to the sudden realization that there needs to be a badge for people like you to wear so I know to ignore you in the streets.
- JeffT1545, on 10/12/2007, -7/+41How can anyone, Muslim or not, support something as reprehensible as this? WTF are you thinking?
- jhuebel, on 10/12/2007, -35/+65This smacks of the same tactics Nazi Germany used to "classify" people during the Holocaust.
http://www.answers.com/topic/nazi-concentration-camp-badges - matrox212, on 10/12/2007, -9/+38It's pretty funny that before saying anything else you say, "as a Christian." It's kind of like wearing a badge.
- twinklyJesus, on 10/12/2007, -7/+35That and a spell checker.
- orangeRam, on 10/12/2007, -12/+38I'm sure both sides have their "credible sources", but until I see this on ABC, NBC, BBC, etc., I'll approach it with some skepticism.
And @ zillarx0rz: I agree, but you wouldn't believe how many people at my office only talk about stories from the Daily Show, and cite the jokes as the basis for their opinions. Sometimes I feel like it's a waste of my time to read USA Today if that's what they want to talk about - adml_shake, on 10/12/2007, -23/+48"UH yeah, the Daily Show - a MUCH more credible news source. This is the problem with the 17-25 set in the States - they actually think the Daily Show is real news."
Give me the daily show with it's open mock-umentry style over Fox and CNN just getting ***** wrong all the time so they can be the first ones to air a story no one gives a ***** about any day. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -22/+46I think the real problem is people like you, chriskzoo, make gross generalizations like 17-25 year olds are unable to dissect sarcasm from fact.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+23I am a little concerned that no other press has this story besodes Canada.com. How legit is it?
- jerseyg, on 10/12/2007, -6/+29are you kidding me? Your logic states that everyone who was alive during the Holocaust, regardless of where they were in the world, makes them a Holocaust survivor? My grandmother survived Auschwitz. She is a Holocaust survivor.
- Romance, on 10/12/2007, -7/+29Exactly. 'I would support this, if I was Muslim.' Where did that come from? It shouldn't matter what religion you are from. Would you enjoy being branded and forced to wear a badge because you have different beliefs, or you're a different race? Sorry, this is an abhorrent thing to do in any religion.
- BaulZaak, on 10/12/2007, -19/+40Another good reason why US should invade Iran, plus it's right next door to Iraq, the cost savings of just moving troops over the border instead of shipping them back home first would almost pay for itself.
Please note Sarcasm. - piggy, on 10/12/2007, -3/+22"How can we be peaceful about the next Hitler? "
Just watch. We said "never again" after WWII, but now we've had Cambodia, Rwanda and of course Sudan. - GoNoles, on 10/12/2007, -5/+23"The national dress plan was approved in Majlis by 137 votes in favor, 45 against, and 11 abstentions."

Source description: "The Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA) was established in 1934 by the Foreign Ministry of Iran as the country's official national news outlet." - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -11/+29Get a clue buddy. The person meant that their grandparents were actually a PART of the holocaust, and survived it. You didn't survive anything if yer ass was over in the states and not in some filithy concentration camp.
- elook, on 10/12/2007, -9/+27Simply unbelievable...
- yoni, on 10/12/2007, -12/+29@PowerCow: HUH? Israel (not ISREAL) banned marriages to Palestinians? Israel just doesn't award Israeli-Palestinian couples with the privilege to settle outside Gaza, that's it.
- ArcusOfSV, on 10/12/2007, -8/+25@sysprn
"Why am I getting modded down for takign a stance against war? "
You are getting modded down because you said IRAQ not IRAN. Read your first post. - jhuebel, on 10/12/2007, -6/+23@Inthearmor: In the history of digg (granted, the short history), nobody deserves to be modded down to oblivion more than you do. You're an idiot.
- kremvax, on 10/12/2007, -14/+30Not really. It's a pretty clear example of what happens when you mix a fundamentalist religion and a right-wing government.
Another local-to-the-region example of this would be The *new improved government* we just created in Afghanistan tried to execute a man for converting to Christianity last month.
There are really compelling reasons and a history-of-mankind worth of examples that support the notion that separation of church and state is essential. - elfuego, on 10/12/2007, -6/+22Um, canada.com is pretty reputable... they're owned and run by one of the three major media co's here in canada. I'd give this as much salt as something from CBS or ABC news.
- BloodJunkie, on 10/12/2007, -30/+46The National Post in Canada is known for this kind of alarmist propaganda. I don't believe this for a second.
- VeryBoredNow, on 10/12/2007, -1/+17I was born and raised a muslim. My father and I both think that this is rediculous, shame on Iran if they go through with this. Muhammad (pbuh) defenetly would have not agreed on this.... I just do not understand how these people took a peacefull religion and turned it into something horrible.
These extremist regimes are Islams worst enemy.
I hope that it is clear to everyone that the majority of muslims do not feel and think this way.
:: throws peace sign ::
I hate politics. - medication, on 10/12/2007, -11/+26Although I think Iran is a threat on many levels this doesn't not appear to be a valid report: http://www.940news.com/locale.php?news=2512
- gargantuan, on 10/12/2007, -7/+21Lets bomb em! oh, hang on, I based that comment on an un-supported article that covers a subject I know nothing about and only just read, there, in that article. Which I assume will cover 99% of the people that read the same article. It may not be propaganda, but that doesn't make it ture. It sounds daft to me. BUT! Considering Mohammad Khatamis seemingly kamakazie attitude towards global politics, I wouldn't dismiss that after reading this article, and seeing the reaction, he decides to take it on board. And again, that doesn't mean it'll ever happen. He's not exactly George Bush, it's a little trickier for him to get things done.
But all in all, my gut feeling is that this is ***** and i'm reporting it as so. - Duston, on 10/12/2007, -4/+18@jrbrewin
Last time I checked in America they don't require me to wear anything that shows my faith. - GreatSunJester, on 10/12/2007, -10/+24Lets see -- Iran has parades of it's military goosestepping in front of the leaders, including showing off their rockets and missles...... now they want to mark people based upon religion?
- evil-doer, on 10/12/2007, -1/+14even if this was true, which i really doubt. why does the title say jews when theres way more christians in iran? the only reason is to get a reaction out of people. lame.
- drowningfish, on 10/12/2007, -1/+14You die like the rest of us.
- buss, on 10/12/2007, -4/+16Regardless of whether or not the law is true, can anyone confirm this from the article: "...according to the Iranian mullahs, if a Mulsim [sic] shakes hands with a non-Muslim he becomes unclean." I'm sure most muslims don't think that, but how accepted is that belief in Iran or other areas?
- yoni, on 10/12/2007, -4/+15@sysrpn: It wasn't a typo, giving that the content of your post was obviously referring Iraq, it was funny though.
- IbnDigg, on 10/12/2007, -4/+15This part:
But independent reporter Meir Javdanfar, an Israeli Middle East expert who was born and raised in Tehran, says the report is false.
"It's absolutely factually incorrect," he told The New 940 Montreal. "Nowhere in the law is there any talk of Jews and Christians having to wear different colours. I've checked it with sources both inside Iran and outside."
And thats from an Israeli.
http://www.940news.com/locale.php?news=2512 - UltraNurd, on 10/12/2007, -3/+14Not to doubt this, but I've only seen it reported in the National Post (or quoted from there). We should probably wait for more confirmation before jumping to the terrible conclusion.
- jhuebel, on 10/12/2007, -4/+14It's completely different, actually. Iran intends to force non-Muslims to were the badge somewhere visible at all times. It MARKS them. It also has a chilling effect on religious freedom.
Mexican immigrants simply have to have papers showing that they are in the country legally. There's no badge. It's a worker's visa, which should be required in the US just like it's required in every other developed country in the world. Why villify the US for enforcing the same laws? - nendoke, on 10/12/2007, -3/+13I am Iranian.
Our people has not problem with any other on all over the world, But seems government want to show some thing else to world about us.
The most peoples hate them; our president is a joke here. - kremvax, on 10/12/2007, -13/+23Right. We, The Good Guys, can just install a new government like we did with Afghanistan.
You remember those guys, right? They tried to execute a man for converting to Christianity last month.
How much more could it possibly cost to occupy a third right-wing-fundamentalist country in the middle east? We'll change the hearts and minds of the people just like we did in Iraq.
I'm not sayin we shouldn't do anything about these thugs. I'm just saying this administration has a pretty bad track record of fixing these sorts of problems. The bomb-them-all option doesn't seem to be working out for us. - largobargo, on 10/12/2007, -1/+10This would be a great idea for Scientologists in the USA. We could put a badge with a dollar sign on them.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -10/+19The badge will resemble a large Bull's Eye for the ease of fanatical muslims with bad eye-sight.
- teamparadox, on 10/12/2007, -11/+20Reminds of of a time when a man named Hitler ran Germany...wtf is going on with world these days? The problem is these 3rd world countries are becoming rich from all their oil money but their civilazation is stuck 100's of years in the past...mix in some weapons and you have a big problem.
This is the biggest reason we need to get off of oil because we are helping in creating these nations, if it wasnt for oil money we wouldnt have a damn thing to worry about when it comes to the middle east, they couldnt afford nukes, or biological weapons if we didnt keep sending them billions of dollars a month. - solidblu, on 10/12/2007, -11/+20I agree, this is probably fake. There is no reputable news site carrying this story. So nobody panic and hold back on the flame war till after we find out if its real or fake.
No reason to flip out over nothing. Not that my advice will stop anyone from flipping out. - whalesalad, on 10/12/2007, -34/+43Seriously Iran really needs to be dealt with... They have been persecuting Bahai's over there for quite a while, and now they are going after the Jews???!!!!!
- Hubris, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9Buss - A good friend of mine is muslim...he not only will shake my hand, but we practice martial arts at the same club. He takes a strict view of his marriage vows however, and will not shake hands (or otherwise touch) a woman other than his wife.
- bingbing, on 10/12/2007, -3/+12You know why.
- ajwillys, on 10/12/2007, -2/+11Human Rights?!? There are no human rights in Iran!
