- UpTheToon, on 10/12/2007, -1/+11This must be web 2.0, it has the beta tag at the top and everything...
- DigiDave, on 10/12/2007, -2/+9I think it's a tech deal -- maybe not in price, but in finding out what the best products are: Deals doesn't just mean cheap -- it can also mean quality.
- vertigoblue, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7there are no links to product's website, no pricing info, and no links to places to buy it, from...
ebay doesn't count. - 0x0000ff, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5Internet Shopping 2.0 ??
Annoying New Trend v2.0: Adding a 2.0 to the end of anything and everything because it's 'radical' 'dude' - Soave, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3That's actually a great idea. I just hope people can adapt to all the Web 2.0 stuff quickly; if so, things like this will be extremely beneficial.
Edit: Although... this is really a popularity thing. Things that are cheaper and more available are going to be 'rated' higher than expensive, less common things. So I don't know how well this will work. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4The site is worthless and stupid, no digg. Are we done with the beta tags and cloud views yet? Please?
Actually I am going to go a step further and bury this as lame. - hangtown, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2This is going to be another site where a few people churn out all the info... also, this blurb on the site kills me:
"High-Value Population
44% of all internet users publish their thoughts or otherwise create content online."
Yeah, and how much of that "content" is total crap? Apparently generating content, regardless of quality, equals high value to these guys. - shit, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2It has "clouds" too! And let's not forget that it's calling itself "a social shopping 2.0 experience".
- Lothar, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Thing is - something like epinions or a review site is generally ok when you know what you're going to buy - I can check it out on one of these sites. Thing is that it doesn't help me if I just need a damn good LCD TV but don't know a brand or anything about the features. Also, I strongly follow recommendations from a few good friends and some editors and just want to track them, not some anonymous imp.
- hangtown, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Yeah, "Shopping 2.0"... they have Annoying 1.0 down pat.
- TheOrange, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2How would you move this into a different topic then - as it belongs in Tech news right?
- newdigg, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Kind of similar to http://dealspl.us
- krinthekuz, on 09/16/2008, -0/+2or cnet user reviews...
the only difference between this and the reviews on cnet or vendor sites (like best buy/circuit city) are that those sites have ways to buy immediately available. while this lacks that (or adblock is blocking all their *****) theres no reason to think these reviews are nonpartisan like consumer reports. also marked as lame. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2looks good, im sure it wont be the last of digg inspired sites ;)
- scaredycat, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Yo. From personal experience, I always find it really important to read user reviews before I buy a product type that I don't know much about (like when I bought my first MP3 player, and wanted to find out what was reall different about the different manfacturers). Some product categories have good review sites, others don't. A site purely dedicated to finding out people's thoughts about stuff seems handy to me. It's only gonna be useful if they get enough people using it, though, and sharing opinions. But I guess it's worked for Digg!
- morgrar, on 10/12/2007, -3/+4'cause you have to sit through reading comments and long paragraphs of items that no one buys anyway. plus, they don't have anything i'm ever looking for. i remember that they were useful once though... back in like 2002 when i was trying to buy a DVD player.
...and we all know you can buy a DVD player for like $30 from anywhere these days. - mtek, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2i dont like it
- mkamrk, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1check out iNods http://www.inods.com for the most comprehensive product reviews search and guides (http://www.inods.com/guides/). iNods helps to surface the best advice across the Internet.
- TheOrange, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Does epinions show the buzzy products?
- wibblewibble, on 10/12/2007, -5/+6Great idea for those that cant think for themselves or want to keep up with the Jones nextdoor :)
- DeadFly, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I might use it as an addition source of info when deciding on what to buy, but the comments I saw didn't have any substance and there were no links for more info on the products.
Currently I make use of Amazon's reviews a lot. - robinstar, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0why not use epinions?
- mkamrk, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1The should probably integrate the dealplumber (http://www.dealplumber.com) feeds to make it more interesting, and surface the best deals for those products.
- b7illsmith, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2Seems that Industry News would have been a more appropriate topic, no? I would have found and dugg this story earlier, but that's just me.
- skyshark88, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1E-BAY front..........................
- v413, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0How about similar to epinions.com or many other sites having a review section? I can see a few minor tweaks here and there (like recommendations, buzz products) but overall it is the same functionality. As with any other review sites, I don't see any hindrance for ad shills. I kind of foresee that if people listen to online crowds (e.g. on site like this), then the companies will create fake online crowds that will promote their products. And this has already started happening on different online venues.
- DeadFly, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Wow, I checked out http://dealspl.us and it's much better than Crowdstorm.
- EarthWind, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1I feel doubtful about this model. One, it could be abused and two, the site ops could be biased towards a particular product.
No digg. - SmurfButcherBob, on 10/12/2007, -7/+6Not exactly a tech deal, though. Wrong topic. No digg.
- 6ftmonad, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Reminds me a lot of http://www.epinions.com/
- TheOrange, on 10/12/2007, -7/+2Fan-bloody-tastic! This makes perfect sense.

What is Digg?
