- agsinger, on 04/21/2008, -5/+261great...i ordered a new quad core on FRIDAY !
this always happens to me... = / - ausfahrt, on 04/21/2008, -0/+88Return it and get a new one. Easy peasy. Plus lots of places have price protection for a couple weeks to a month.
- jessechan, on 04/21/2008, -4/+75It looks like the Q6700 is $260 on TigerDirect
- nblsavage, on 04/21/2008, -4/+70minus the rebate you'll never get right?
- pak314, on 04/21/2008, -0/+55Just like in real life, one of the cores can become the manager core and watch the other cores do the work and take all the credit.
- jer2eydevil88, on 04/21/2008, -1/+47If they cut their costs anymore they will be paying us to take them.
- unpure, on 04/21/2008, -6/+45too bad this isn't reflected on newegg yet, the Q6700 is still $546 :(
- Fmunkey, on 04/21/2008, -4/+40Not everyone uses Quad Core processors for gaming. These are used best for 3d and video applications which do take advantage of the 4 cores.
- Chalks777, on 04/21/2008, -3/+36:(
- Sedako, on 04/21/2008, -2/+34Fear of losing market?? Intel has partnerships with system builders like Apple, Dell, HP... not to mention AMD's recent 10% employee cut means that they are the ones losing market.
- MacMan88, on 04/21/2008, -0/+30have you opened it yet?
if not, hopefully you can return it and get all your money back.
are you being a douchebag if you gave newegg the runaround? in a sense yes, but c'mon you're saving 50% for christ sakes. - robotto, on 04/21/2008, -7/+34Seriously I will cancel my order tomorrow ...
- booshack, on 04/21/2008, -2/+29Just so you know, now is still a REALLY bad time to buy a CPU. Hint: wait for this fall. Nehalem will be a huge generation jump - basically the difference is that cores can communicate (almost) directly with each other, vastly improving overall multicore performance.
- blah247, on 04/21/2008, -7/+32This one goes to 11..
- GoneFishing, on 04/21/2008, -1/+24Yes. AMD was a good competitor 3-4 years ago. But they are losing big to Intel in the past 2 years.
- unknamed, on 04/21/2008, -0/+21$299.00 at NewEgg right now.
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N8 ... - inactive, on 04/21/2008, -1/+21please don't come back
- The Internet - r69er87, on 04/21/2008, -1/+19were you born a douchebag or did you slowly grow into one?
- NamesTwister, on 04/21/2008, -3/+21But my Pentium II still works great!
- zephyr42, on 04/21/2008, -1/+18I'm ok with that.
- r69er87, on 04/21/2008, -2/+18damn....your right, there's no excuse to having a life....
- Brian48216, on 04/21/2008, -1/+17wow....50% off of a $500 processor is ridiculous savings.
Quad core has just went from out of the question to a definite for me... - sovietninja, on 04/21/2008, -0/+15q9300 q9450 q9770?
- Aleman360, on 04/21/2008, -1/+15Nehalem probably won't be widely available until early '09 and it will require DDR3 memory, which is still insanely expensive relative to DDR2. So if you're waiting for Nehalem, I would plan on waiting for at least another year unless money is no object.
- MacTyler, on 04/21/2008, -3/+17Talking to yourself?
- KibibyteBrain, on 04/21/2008, -2/+15Vista's extra kernel level protections should not cause such problems unless the application was poorly programmed. Sure, it will always suck performance and thats unacceptable for something that doesn't add any value to the customer, but I think much of the blaming MS for bad gaming performance are vid card makers and game dev's covering their asses with the classic Microsoft blame game. Heck, the MS blame game has almost become windows' best feature. Application and driver developers can make products as bad as they want, blame microsoft, and get little skepticism in the process. If I was a rushed developer, that sounds like a great platform to develop for when it comes to keeping your boss happy.
- TRScheel, on 04/21/2008, -3/+15After beer and sex they are
- tmyprod, on 04/21/2008, -2/+13If only gas would do the same thing.
- dualboy24, on 04/21/2008, -1/+12Dude your getting a dell. Just build your own, be a man :)
- TheKrillr, on 04/21/2008, -0/+11we aren't necessarily talking about graphics. AI and other interactive functionality takes a lot of CPU power, and more cores means better and more realistic interactivity.
- HydrogenY, on 04/21/2008, -5/+16Did they also give news on when I'll have software that will use my quad? It's really been idle since I got it.
- estvir, on 04/21/2008, -0/+11Price protection, such a thing exists?! That's a geek's dream!
I wish we had that in Australia. :( - pak314, on 04/21/2008, -1/+11I'm using a couple of those for a door shim.
- Chalks777, on 04/21/2008, -1/+11AMD is in a world of hurt right now, and it seems to me that Intel is trying to pressure them even more. Which sucks... since I just built an amd machine that I'm hoping to upgrade in a year or so.
- Zain123, on 04/21/2008, -5/+15New technology is always coming out. The waiting game can take forever.
- Kratos76, on 04/21/2008, -0/+9I was known too.
- tstocker, on 04/21/2008, -1/+10Will Mapou drink the Kool-Aid?
only time will tell... - IEatHamburgers, on 04/22/2008, -2/+11Ah, a return to the bad old days of a near-monopoly by Intel...
- stoppedcode12, on 04/21/2008, -0/+9It's not everyday that intel introduces a totally new generation of processors.
- dualboy24, on 04/21/2008, -1/+10I am more interested in hearing about the Q9XXX series of quad core. The Q9300 and Q9450 are tempting, though the E8300/E8400/E8500 all look like they will be able to approach and pass the 4Ghz mark with some nice air cooling. Cant be a Core 2 Duo 6MB @ 4Ghz for $163
- Wargasmic, on 04/21/2008, -4/+13He is talking to himself. Rebates are a joke, just give us a discount if you're serious tigerdirect...
- Zeusandhera, on 04/21/2008, -0/+9If it was opened, you could buy a second one at the new low price and then send it back as the first one. Risky, but possible I suppose.
- TRScheel, on 04/21/2008, -0/+8I think its a little bit of column A and a little bit of column B
- inactive, on 04/21/2008, -3/+11these badboys are a steal
- sexybobo, on 04/21/2008, -1/+9Mwave might be cheaper but newegg defiantly has better customer service.
- aliguana, on 04/21/2008, -2/+10I bet his will still be running when you're 3 boxes and £2000 down the line. Enjoy your endlessly futile upgrading.
- jakobrowning, on 04/21/2008, -5/+12DAMN IT!!! I just built a new machine with a Q6600, if I knew this was coming I would've waited. *Insert Nelson's HAH HA! laugh here*
- aliguana, on 04/21/2008, -1/+8you'll never be able to afford it.
