- coyska, on 09/13/2008, -11/+85Blah blah get over it and stop trying to control everything.
- connieLingus, on 09/14/2008, -0/+66meanwhile, there are 14.3million vids of drunk chicks...
huh? - inactive, on 09/13/2008, -11/+50I hate to say this, but actually they might be protecting the serious entheogen users with this.
Too many dumb teenagers giving Salvia (and other sacred plants) a bad name, I don't think it's going to remain legal for long. - peheimbach, on 09/14/2008, -3/+41Does this mean that Rush Limbaugh videos will no longer be allowed -- or at least those done before he graduated from OxyContin rehab?
- inactive, on 09/14/2008, -7/+45Youtube can eat a ***** dick.
I wish Google would grow some balls. Protect people's freedom of speech. There is this thing called "Parental Controls", but most people are too ***** lazy and stupid to use it. Tell the soccer moms and religious whackjobs to go hump their bibles. Don't penalize those of us who are mature enough to handle adult content.
Your advertisers aren't going to leave you because most of the Internets AD traffic runs THROUGH YOU...... - kd420, on 09/14/2008, -2/+34What about someone smoking a cigarette, is that not drug abuse? Why is YouTube being so soft here, it was based as a place for free expression. Though the videos in question are usually stupid anyways, this might be the start of a bad trend. Next they might remove terrorist training videos, then anything seen as "radical" until it is diluted to another MSM source.
- FadieZ, on 09/14/2008, -5/+24THANK YOU. Little kids have been ruining drugs for us responsible users ever since the site ***** came up. If it wasn't for those vids Salvia would still be legal everywhere.
Kids on Youtube are perpetuating the belief that all drugs cause nothing but harm and are in no way beneficial to your physical/mental health. When people see 15-y-o kids screaming, laughing, babbling incoherently and walking around inebriated as ***** after smoking a mysterious drug from Mexico, parents - and authorities - tend to freak out. - addicted68098, on 09/14/2008, -2/+17Now where am I going to find out how to roll Cheech and chong blunts
- peestandingup, on 09/14/2008, -4/+18Killing a hooker is illegal. Smoking salvia isn't.
- upick, on 09/13/2008, -13/+26YouTube = ControlFreak
- iceman0113, on 09/14/2008, -1/+12Petere Sunde said it best, "It’s more important that such a possibility exists than it doesn’t exist." All knowledge should be free and known; it is up to parents to censor, not government.
- Clordio, on 09/14/2008, -4/+13It sucks but I agree. Many of us actually have reasons for ingesting entheogens, and these inexperienced kids are getting officials scared.
Opening and expanding one's consciousness shouldn't be illegal but if the only evidence of use is children abusing these substances then the government will make the obvious choice.
But who wants a thinking a population? Ban'em all

- Derrekito, on 09/14/2008, -0/+7It is in the mint family -- get it right!
- Fhwqhgads, on 09/14/2008, -3/+10Drugs being illegal or legal all depends on who makes the money.
- captainchris, on 09/14/2008, -0/+6actually it is highly potent, a very small amount of extract can give intense effects. it's often said by drug czars that something 'highly potent' just to scare dummies who think potent = dangerous. potent, yes. dangerous, no.
- inactive, on 09/14/2008, -1/+7One word: Liability.
You would all do the same if you were running YouTube.
Does this mean I think YouYube should be liable if some idiot gets hurt from mimicking a drug use video on YouTube (regardless of whether the substance was legal or not)? No. But it doesn't change the fact that bull ***** lawsuits will happen, and YouTube is doing what they need to do to prevent it. Don't like it? Then you'll hate running a business, my friend. - olschool82, on 09/14/2008, -0/+5Lieberman is a douche
- Clordio, on 09/14/2008, -6/+11If only you knew...
To the experienced entheogen user, it's society that's "loony".
Live in houses separated from nature, make wars over consumable "resources". Hell, we don't even really understand where our food comes from these days. Most kids believe all food comes from the stores.
But I'm a sort of new age caveman, so you may think I'm loony - Import98, on 09/14/2008, -4/+8I agree with this. Salvia is legal at the moment (In most places) and was relatively unknown until dumb asses decided to portray their "trips" on you tube. Which in turn is gaining salvia more attention, hence more resistance from authorities. On another note, you tube is starting to suck after Viacom sued them. Anything copyrighted is pretty much removed immediately. Back in its prime it would stay up for a few days or at least a few hours.
- inactive, on 09/14/2008, -2/+6It already holds some serious charges here in ND.
When you have responsible users, it's virtually harmless. It's just the stupid kids who see it as a recreational drug that give it a bad name.
I haven't had a single bad trip with it, and I don't think I'm in any way ***** up because of it. - Fhwqhgads, on 09/14/2008, -4/+8smoking =/= killing hookers
you fail - blarch, on 09/14/2008, -2/+6and what about shows like this
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=09sx60oW6no&feature ... - inactive, on 09/14/2008, -2/+6Why would you get stoned and watch other people get stoned?
- kinseyincanada, on 09/14/2008, -1/+5freedom of speech does not apply to Google
- getrealnow, on 09/14/2008, -9/+13Actually instead of blaming youtube/google for doing this, how about we stand up for ourselves against the government.
- 0Xonox0, on 09/14/2008, -0/+4What about alcohol? I mean so many dumb kids die from alcohol abuse every year its not even funny. If you're going to "protect the children" you've got to start there.
That's the thing that really bugs me about drug laws, there is this extreme double standard in which you can't even smoke a blunt legally, but you can get ***** drunk on tv with no consequence.
Don't get me wrong, I am against censorship and drug laws of all forms, but having this double standard is even worse than just the laws against drugs. - lead2thehead, on 09/14/2008, -4/+7How stupid do you have to be to post videos like that on youtube? I know Salvia is still legal, but this new trend of posting everything you do on youtube is absolutely retarded. They act like their parents, teachers, and the cops don't have internet access.
- MindTrigger, on 09/14/2008, -1/+4@dstz
Ignorant much? Perhaps you should look into the history of entheogens, healing/healers, shamanism, and Native American culture for starters. Just because you lack the understanding with why someone may want to safely and responsibly use entheogens does not mean these people are all loony. - cbasst, on 09/14/2008, -0/+3Who gets to inform Zombi of what he is missing?
- inactive, on 09/14/2008, -1/+4Invader Zim.
Trust me. It's like watching the bible. - carynyao, on 09/14/2008, -1/+4If I upload TV drug commercials showing all the drugged out pretend people, would youtube have to take them down as well? That is much more drug abuse then anything...
- gropo, on 09/14/2008, -2/+5"because "serious entheogen users" are more or less loonies"
Yes, "loonies" that utilize these harmless experiences to gain a temporary perspective that feeds—rather than fuels—their other work or life. And do things like formulate DNA polymerase chain reactions. And expand on the indubitable wisdom of ancient spiritual philosophers.
Let's use your own obvious stick up your ass about verbosity and presume that a small percentile of people who consume entheogens are quite capable of heavily favoring your "less."
As someone who took a traditional Native American entheogen at 23 that helped me transform from 'stagnant, never exercizes, overweight' me in to 'bicycle commutes 12 miles a day, draws wanton gazes from sexyhot women every day on the streets of New York' me...
Yes perhaps there is a loose patina of 'lunacy' there. But if it was a choice between 'lunacy' and going back to being someone still bought in to the zombie, button-pushing culture of our modern societies... I'll gladly pick the latter. Infinite times. - mccraig416, on 09/14/2008, -0/+310 minutes if you're lucky!
Most of the time it's 5 mins!!! - Jforsyth89, on 09/14/2008, -1/+4I hope they don't get rid of these:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EVllL4tNZsI
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2JPfnJVEr8E - inactive, on 09/14/2008, -0/+3They remove salvia videos...but not the ones all about how to make hash:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YPJP62dcMhk - rheaume, on 09/14/2008, -0/+3Uhm, I consider myself a chronic weed smoker, never heard of Salvia until now, seen a few youtube trips and really, doesn't look like something we should be glamorizing, in fact, as long as weed isn't legal, ***** this *****. The trip looks like heroin, completely catatonic, out of it *****.
- blackturtleus, on 09/14/2008, -0/+3YouTube needs to respect its users and allow us to decide for ourselves what we want to watch and what we don't want to watch. One of the good things about YouTube is that it provides a forum for people to share their views and to post information on a wide variety of interesting topics. Censoring certain views and banning information diminishes the value of the site! Maybe they should call it Some-Of-You-Tube or Politically-Correct-Tube instead since obviously there is an attempt to exclude people from YouTube in the brewing!!!
- blackfox026, on 09/14/2008, -1/+3Psychonauts may be insane, but through expansive searching of the mind they're able to bring mental imbalance to the surface of their consciousness and deal with it. They are also on a constant quest for knowledge and understanding through the mental, physical, and spiritual. I think this makes them a lot more sane than the naysayers. Lets use facts and experience, not useless derogatory remarks.
- inactive, on 09/14/2008, -0/+2I see the logic in your analogy, but you have to remember that people aren't always logical. Whether it's true or not, drug abuse is always going to be perceived as more dangerous than skateboarding stunts in most people's eyes. And these are going to be the same people who are going to be sitting on juries or even U.S. District Court benches. From their perspective, allowing videos of any sort of drug use is going to be inexcusable, yet they will be more than willing to turn a blind eye to videos of dangerous stunts (or maybe even get a kick out of it). I'm sure the "war on drugs" has a lot to do with this double standard, but it's there, and YouTube has to do what they need to do to protect themselves.
- inactive, on 09/14/2008, -3/+5How about removing videos of underaged bastards showing off their stash? They're the only ones that are even stupid enough to upload their ***** videos in the first place.
Or hell, just ban everybody under 18 from YouTube, and watch that cesspool suddenly turn into a decent website again. - coopa, on 09/14/2008, -0/+2Member of the mint family, known as sage...
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Salvia - mccraig416, on 09/14/2008, -0/+2that clarifies things
- Murdats, on 09/14/2008, -5/+7smoking =/= killing hookers
yes, but where do you draw the line? - kismetropolis, on 09/14/2008, -0/+2Advice to people who want to trip out and then post to YouTube [along with people who beat up others and post it to YouTube or do any other illegal thing and post it to YouTube]
"I need to be a little more careful about what I say on this blog. Apparently the police and Captain Hammer are among my viewers."
--Dr. Horrible - Disjunto, on 09/14/2008, -3/+5@murdat: about the point where the actions forcefully affect someone else. smoking only affects the user, killing a hooker also affects the (now dead) hooker. simple really
- Derrekito, on 09/14/2008, -1/+3Don't like it? Don't watch! While I agree those divinorum videos were ***** stupid, I don't like the idea of everything being controlled.
- bluesnowmonkey, on 09/14/2008, -0/+2Buried for calling it "natural", as if that has any meaning or relevance to the debate.
- NikoKun, on 09/14/2008, -1/+3There's a BIG difference between drug use, and abuse. Sadly... I'm sure plenty of responsible use, is going to be banned. -_-
And it is NOT Youtube's job to be everyone's parents. Jeezus... The age restriction warning is good enough to handle this... Maybe force users to set their date of birth, in their account, and not allow them to view mature content?
That is the MOST they could/should do. It's not like banning the videos, is going to stop people from using the drugs... The only reason is to keep kids from seeing it, or to piss off the pot culture. - inactive, on 09/14/2008, -0/+2After noobs start posting these videos, it won't be. ***** just can't be cool. Can't enjoy the trip.
They have to broadcast it. So now suits will see this and pull the alarm.
Actually, Google, by pulling these vids may extend the "party time" before it gets made illegal.
And it will,be made illegal (it has in some states already). -
