- ((PolyAst)), on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Absolutely! This is pretty cool! +digg from me!
(And I'm gonna spread the word...) - Snyder, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Ummm, people, "Inquisitor" and "Google Suggest" are nothing alike, other than that this uses Google's index. "Inquisitor" gives you search results as you type. "Google Suggest" gives suggestions of possible search terms you might be interested in, and shows the number of pages each choice will give you, but nowhear, untill you search like normal, do you get search results.
- ArtVandelay, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1It's pretty neat but I can't see why it's useful. Same goes for Google Suggest. When I'm typing a search query, I know what I want.
- nunofgs, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1if this piece of software came from anyone else I would say it is very cool, but coming from Dave Watanabe, I can't help but feel biased toward it.
David Watanabe is known in the mac community for being a prick. I bought his Newsfire myself simply because it had stopped working and I had thought maybe it needed a registration, and after 3 or 4 unreturned emails (he never returns any of his e-mails, even if you're a paying customer) I found out that he actually looks for a memory patcher running on the operating system and silently breaks his own software if it is found.
I have attempted to e-mail David at least on 5 separate occasions, having received 5 (suposedly) automated responses saying that he'd get back to me. Funny thing is, the automated responses are completely random... the last e-mail I sent to him took about 3 weeks before I got his "automated" response back.
I wouldn't be surprised if he has some ulterior motives for this search thing. - ciphex, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2How the hell did this one not get more diggs?! This is one of the coolest looking AJAX implementations I have seen yet. Excellent digg!!
- TwoSlick, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1"and he's not stealing the spotlight logo, he's inspired by it"
Ummm.. He took the EXACT same logo, and colored it different... inspired my ass. - BluParadox, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1This is the exact same as google suggest, only reskinned and he does previews of the top 3 results as well. The description is wrong, it only searches on one engine (google), and it's just a re-skin of existing functionality (using stolen images from apple I might add).
Unlike everyone else here, my question is actually why did this get as many diggs as it has?
Problem?
> Okay this is lame - demesne, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Pretty slick
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0And what's with the star? Did someone drop on their knees to dig this crap?
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0
This is so AWESOME. THEY WILL BE BIGGER THAN GOOGLE IN 1 YEAR.
Oh wait, this is Google. How lame. Be sure to check out my new search engine. It's called Goofie - The idea behind the Goofie search engine is to surround the search box with Disney Goofie characters and return the results from Google. - BugMeNot2, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0So... it's basically Google Suggest, but prettier.
k. i'll digg it. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Ya, I know it's Goofy - but that would be violating Disney's copyright.
- marosnax, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1http://www.inquisitorx.com/ this has been out for awhile if you have safari it puts what they have on their page in your browser when google search was, but still uses google.
- GaryKing, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1This is NOT 'stealing from Google'. It isn't illegal or anything. You can get a 'personalized' Google search page for your own website - personalized, as in the colors, primarily. I use them for my websites, for instance.
So for those of you who think that he is stealing from Google and whatnot - you guys are completely dolts and idiots. I am certain that you have seen a Google search box on a website before, made a search, and have it in the website's colors but it saying 'Powered by Google'. - jeff4379, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I agree, this is Google suggest with text ads in the results. Google Suggest is faster and gives more results.
http://www.google.com/webhp?complete=1&hl=en - TimmyGUNZ, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Wow. So cool. Shocked this isn't more popular a digg also.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Nothing amazing, but pretty cool
- prowling-tiger, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0that's awesome
- skealoha86, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0the concept is awesome...
he's making money off of the google ad click throughs.
i don't think that google has a problem with him putting a slick face on the search page when he gives credit where credit is due.
google search technology is free. they make money off of the ads, so any usage of their system that increases traffic to the google ads is good usage. - gbezel, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Um, all you idiots? This doesn't use Google to power the three top sites, it uses MSN. I really hate Dave Watanabe. Try http://www.inquisitorx.com/a.xml?q=Dave%20Lies if you don't believe me.
- zforrester, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0good damn this is sweet
and he's not stealing the spotlight logo, he's inspired by it. it wa originally designed as an OSX-only utility, the direct elation to spotlight is obvious: Spotlight for Safari - yukevster, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Yes, it looks very nice - But, it is just Google Suggest with less results...
Are all these people simply seduced by pretty graphics?? Hmm.... - belcorriko, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0This looks a lot nicer than Google Suggest, and the pre-fetching of the top 3 hits is very nice. I'm impressed. Google will probably end up hiring this guy.
- mcpaige, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0What is Google Suggest? If you have OSX Tiger you know how cool Spotlight (or QuickSilver) is, I use it for everything, search for everything. http://www.inquisitorx.com/beta/ is my new homepage.
- macgabriel87, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0start up page. yup, i was hooked when i saw this so now every time i open a new window this pops up!! it looks so awesome too.
- Jammerdelray, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0pretty sweet, takes 1/2 the time to search now, digg it
- ggriffit, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0This has been out for a LONG time. Aquisition had you install it with a previous upgrade.
- person, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0+digg... I like it!
- uptown, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Google Suggest: http://www.google.com/webhp?complete=1&hl=en
Yahoo! Instant Search: http://instant.search.yahoo.com/
Yeah, it's AJAX and slick ... - mojaam, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Ummm, ever herd of Google Suggest? I guess not judging on majority of the comments.
- shafiq, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0wow, like spotlight in tiger!!!
- nleghari, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Excellent
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0lame
- Backlash, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0^^^^^ Agreed ^^^^^
- TwoSlick, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0"wow, like spotlight in tiger!!!"
If you notice.. They ripped off the magnifying glass from spotlight. hmmm... - Disparity, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1Yes, it is... that's why he's being so "generous". I think there's a reason why everyone thinks he's a bastard.
- peerk, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0OMG, it uses Google!!1
- techietim, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Personally, I think google suggest is better then this. This one is way to slow.
- slithytove, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Very Tiger !
- orian76, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Try clicking on the search button without a search string. It's just a Halloween mask for google.
- stickyboot, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Slick! But isnt this prety much google sugest?
- dominiccarr, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0digg from me.
- r00ted, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0I dont get it.....is it a knock off of Google Suggest? :P Without the text ads? :)
- nauthiz, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0very nice +digg
- Linuxrocks, on 10/12/2007, -3/+0How come it's powered by google. Isn't that basically just stealing google and putting it on a different url?
- kyle133, on 10/12/2007, -4/+0have a look at this...
