That one made me shake my head in shame, after understanding it immediately. - tidu, on 10/12/2007, -6/+126soothsayer: b3w4r3 th3 1d3s 0f m4rch
caesar: lol - Pix869, on 10/12/2007, -9/+103Digg.rome would be ruled with an iron fist, and no one would digg down the emperor. =(
Lame? You wouldn't say that at digg.rome.
To the lions with you. - oskite, on 10/12/2007, -4/+94But Rome didn't have zeros! No internet without binary...
- aserer511, on 10/12/2007, -2/+67xxMarcxAntonyxx: sory c-zar we got 2 do this
j00liusc:wtf d00dz
BREWtus: ya man i h8 2 do this but we gotta block you
j00liusc: EVEN U BRUTUS????//////// - elnerdo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+59"The destruction of Pompeii in 79AD is the most viewed video at YouTube. The first comment is..."OMG so cool! Volcanos ROCK!""
The second comment proceeds to explain how the whole ordeal was an inside job, and that lava isn't hot enough to melt the concrete used in their structures. It also states that everyone else is "Lol, sheep" - dylanrush, on 10/12/2007, -3/+58Hey fudged71,
I'm also 17, and judging by your comment, you don't have friends. - spiffistan, on 10/12/2007, -1/+56Actually; the romans didn't have the number zero, so that is incorrect, sir.
- InfinitySnatch, on 10/12/2007, -4/+45"I have seen your standards of hilarity and have found them lacking."-Megatron
- luet, on 10/12/2007, -2/+38No, I think it would be CXXVII.N.N.I. N standing for "nullae" which theoretically means zero and, besides, the only known usage of zero in roman history was "N". Look it up.
- wbxp99, on 10/12/2007, -1/+29did you figure that out all by yourself? :P
- soccerkidjp, on 10/12/2007, -3/+30They should make a t-shirt for that
- SlvrEagle23, on 10/12/2007, -1/+27@oskite: There are X kinds of people...those who understand bina...
Yeah, you guys are right. Absolutely any joke along these lines is totally and uncomfortably lame.
(Oh, and don't click the picture below. It's a naked dude, so your friends might think you're g4yz0rs) - maximumsteve1, on 10/12/2007, -0/+23wrong empire buddy
- dylanrush, on 10/12/2007, -0/+21That comment was funnier than the whole damn article.
- zmigliozzi, on 10/12/2007, -1/+21I don't think even Romans would LOL at that...
What about Bigus Dickus and Intercontenentia Buttocks? - muvment256, on 10/12/2007, -17/+33"Classical geeks wear t-shirts proclaiming, "there's no place like CXXVII.0.0.I" (bonus points if you get that one)"
CXXVII.0.0.I = 127.0.0.1
"There's not place like home" - Birdoftruth, on 10/12/2007, -20/+35It was lame
- Urusai, on 10/12/2007, -3/+17Gee, I thought 127.0.0.1 was "localhost", not "home". There is no place like "home". Maybe what you want is "There is no place like ~/"
- aywwts4, on 10/12/2007, -0/+12The third comment is naturally ...
"omg, so ***** fake it isn't funny, Lame!" - YourTechSupport, on 10/12/2007, -5/+17"Unfortunately, the Queen of Egypt dies an early death after misunderstanding IT's call to embrace an ASP solution."
I actually laughed out loud at that one. - cyranthus, on 10/12/2007, -2/+14yeah, and that wasnt even that funny either!
- Culled, on 10/12/2007, -3/+12Can someone please explain to me how KnightMareInc says "that was pretty lame" and gets dugg down big time but then Birdoftruth says "It was lame" and gets dugg up? Do you guys just value the fact that Bird's post was more concise since it had two less words? Please, I don't get it.
- XTCinOvaltine, on 10/12/2007, -1/+9Ahhh, if only...
Then the Numa Numa kid would have to dance in the coliseum and see if the lions liked it as much as we did.
Also, they could have cut the cost of feeding the lions by throwing everyone in the Digg comment section who says,
In Persia, Lions get eaten by you! - graystar, on 10/12/2007, -1/+9Chisel 2.0
- iamafatguy, on 10/12/2007, -1/+9>xxMarcxAntonyxx: sory c-zar we got 2 do this
Found @ bash.org.y ? - uppedbyhiggins, on 10/12/2007, -4/+12@osbjmg
Dude, your freaking out...
...(wait for it)...
...hurts my insides.
Did I just blow your mind, grammarstein?
But not to derail, the localhost joke really did hurt my insides = ( - YellowStar, on 10/12/2007, -2/+9I lol'ed. Fittingly appropriate too - tonight is the final episode of HBO's excellent series Rome. (Why do my favorite TV shows always get cancelled early?)
- AncientWeird, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6i'm in ur aqueducts, stealin ur watrz
- StormyAaron, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6Sad thing is that back then there was no "number" for zero it was left blank..
- osbjmg, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7Yea took .3 seconds to see what they meant, and it was indeed lame.
- anonym41414, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5I like "Rome" a lot too, but you've got to admit, there's not much more story to tell. Augustus ruled for more than forty years, and compared to the Civil War and the Second Triumvirate, not a whole lot happened. It's not uncommon on this show for two consecutive episodes to be separated by years, but skipping ahead two generations between the second and third seasons would be pushing it.
Better for them to tell a quasi-historical story well to its logical conclusion than to turn it into a soap opera set in the early Roman Empire. - ShrimpCrackers, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5Mildly amusing. Although contrary to popular belief (any Hollywood), Cleopatra was actually ugly!
SOURCE: http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/uk_news/england/tyne/6357311.stm - fullphaser, on 10/12/2007, -3/+7Yet another list, but this one actually doesn't suck, loved the one about there is no place like CXXVII.0.0.I
- geminitojanus, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3I think you mean "Chzlr"
- gr3yn3t, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5what a worthwhile comment sir!
all without any periods... - cyranthus, on 10/12/2007, -17/+20i agree, that was extremely lame
- Anonymous3, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2"Trojans, in my Rome?"
It's less likely than you think. - willcode4beer, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2"It's funny ... but it's still spam"
its called geek baiting
http://www.google.com/search?q=geek+baiting - synystar, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Did no one notice the website? It's funny ... but it's still spam.
- wilf_brim, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Rome didn't get canceled early. The production costs were just out of control, so they couldn't keep it up.
- grumpyrain, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2.... During my first service in as proconsul in the province of Gaul, I took the initiative in creating the Internet.
Caesar - TheUberDork, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1"Finally, Rome burns to the ground while Emperor Nero battles online with Hakkar the Soulflayer in World of Warcraft."
wasn't much better as far as geekiness goes... - Ssj6Kirby, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Actually, Marcus Antony didn't participate in the fileting of Caesar.
Just pointing that out. - ladyarcher85, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1They will forever be reminded of their founding fathers' city Troy.
Long live Trojans! eeerrrr wait... lol - crashflow, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1"good friends stab you in the front" - Brutus
- danielsimon, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1this list sucks. in the "Top Ten List of Lists that Suck" this ranks as #1
- capellathestar, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1The whole Popmpei thing was photoshopped anyway.
I actually laughed at "Hannibal blogs his way across the Alps with posts like, "Whoops, lost another elephant today." - okokitsme, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1My favourite:
"But at least Caesar's "Et tu Brute?" comment is available as a free ringtone download." - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -6/+7@negrox
