- rousehouse, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I can think of 1.1 million reasons why this is a bad idea.

- joeljohnson, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2hey if you have 1.1 million we should probly be friends
- aresef, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Watch them charge you 1.1 million tomorrow. Good luck paying that crap off.
- jesusphreak, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Hold on...a story about a guy who may/may not have actually bnought a $1 million item due to a pricing mishap is worthy of being on the frontpage?
- mspencer712, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Even if you used a Visa Signature card, Mastercard World card, or American Express, they would probably get a referral message ("CALL" or "HOLD / CALL") and have to call this in manually.
(If you used a mere mortal Visa or Mastercard, the sale will probably be declined, and you won't have anything to worry about.)
If your bank somehow screws up and approves this sale, and buy.com lets the sale process, they may end up paying processing fees on that sale. Even a generous 2.00% processing rate would cause them to pay $22,500.00 in processing fees to handle that sale.
Their own credit card processing company's risk management department may even hold that $1,125,000.00 while they determine if it was a legit sale.
So attempting to process that sale probably wasn't the right thing to do.
(Disclaimer: I work for a credit card processing company, but the opinions expressed here are my own, and may or may not be those of my employer. We work on the 'acquiring' side -- our customers are businesses who want to accept credit cards. We don't deal directly with cardholders.) - tsupersonic, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I'll digg this story for $1.1 million
- Mark_H, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1If they had one of those "10% of the difference" price matches, I'd be a rich man.
- Slayz0r, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1You used a visa right? you could've saved $30 right. Hey, a deal's a deal.

+dugg - Zoltak, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Happens every so often. Many retail sites end up with major price errors.

We also had a game that sold new for 1ยข and we bought it for $2.00 back and sold it used for $9.99. - metalfire, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0DANG THAT GAME MUST COME WITH A PLATINUM JEWEL CASE!!!! AND A FEW MILLION BUCKS

- THX-7168, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0He most likely stitched it using Photoshop. Notice at the bottom of the screen shot that this person has Adobe Photoshop open.
- rousehouse, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Agreed, Dan_2gngCrew. Who cares about Slashdot; it's Web 1.0. ;-)
