They accuse iiNet of failing to take steps to stop its subscribers from sharing files by disconnecting them from the Internet. Now iiNet has been ordered to hand over the personal details and logs relating to twenty alleged pirates, to anti-piracy group AFACT.

    Better question, how are ISP's supposed to police their network? How are they to distinguish that the torrent is legal or not? Are there privacy implications involved if they try to go snooping around in encrypted traffic? How about normal traffic?

Many record companies buy out a band's work and put them under terribly constructed contracts and do not pay them enough for their work, but then make millions on it themselves. They also sue for pirating their work and none of the artists see that money. There needs to be a shift in the way the music industry works, because it is not working right now and as bad as you may think piracy is, it will never stop.

    Considering the RIAA is not a law enforcement agency, and it has been proven again and again that IP addresses, file names, screenshots, etc are not solid enough evidence alone, they should show more backbone. Pressure them to get real evidence, go through legal channels instead of resorting to mafia style bully tactics.

There's no point to it anyway - they're not trying to identify individual infringement, they're just trying to use examples to prove their case.
