- lukas88, on 10/12/2007, -0/+60Don't be afraid to do the charge back just because they said you will get fined. Failing to provide the promised service could also be considered a "breach of contract." In reality they were just trying to bully you. Stick it to 'em.
Besides, ultimately it is the credit card company that determines if there is any foul play involved. - ShrimpCrackers, on 10/12/2007, -4/+55Kind of, Registerfly has yet to refund anyone.
I already paid Registerfly $130, then they said they'd refund it if I tried it again. Still nothing happened after the second try except they charged me. I called again and threatened a charge-back, they said doing so would break agreements and I would get fined.
Later it turns out those domains have been recalled by eNom and for weeks were not run by Registerfly anymore (they were no longer doing business with Registerfly).
By mid February, Registerfly stopped responding to any contacts.
So basically, they've stolen my cash, for domains they lost control of, with no desire to refund anyone. - mrsteveman1, on 10/12/2007, -1/+44Good.
- dadrox, on 10/12/2007, -0/+20Good riddance.
- XStatic, on 10/12/2007, -0/+19When is another registrar going to offer a registerfly refugee help desk?
- scotty588, on 10/12/2007, -0/+17Godaddy does sorta. https://www.godaddy.com/gdshop/transfers/registerfly.asp
- Ibanezfoo, on 10/12/2007, -4/+19Godaddy is EVIL. Good luck to you if you go that route...
- Agret, on 10/12/2007, -0/+14Registerfly was never good.
- DarkHorizon5, on 10/12/2007, -1/+12GoDaddy isn't good either. How about eNom? Sure you pay more, but I swear, it's worth it.
- cgomez, on 10/12/2007, -1/+10I have no idea. I've just sent a support ticket to GoDaddy in my continued effort to get the domain that RegisterFly stole from me.
Why did I choose RegisterFly? Imagine if digg.com was registered with them. - Xolt, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7For almost seven years now I have used http://namecheap.com and haven't had a single problem with them at all. Good riddance with RegisterFly though, it's about time.
- hackajar, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7Who would be doing the fining?
Charge-Backs are between their bank and yours, not between you personally and them personally.

- kweee, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6As of 10am EDT Saturday, Registerfly's website is still advertising that they're an ICANN-approved registrar. At this rate, in a few days, we should be seeing the executive officers of Registerfly sent to Gitmo.
- Stelex, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6Kevin Medina and John Naruszewicz. When you lock 'em up please ask for my ten bucks. You can keep the money, but just get it out of their pocket. You can break their rib or two each, one for you and one for myself.
- streetstealth, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6Oh, wait... you guys do have AdWords here already. Ok, then, no double-dipping! :)
- streetstealth, on 10/12/2007, -2/+8There is nothing comprehensible from you near this Digg thread. (True Fact)
- fac3less, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5If it's a .ca you cannot modify the contact details.
Contact the CIRA and you'll be able to get it out just fine. :) - Cable, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6What is a good ICANN registrar other than Registerfly or GoDaddy
- wonderchemist, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5At least CEO of GoDaddy is willing share video of what he's blowing his money on. Granted it's all PG rated, but if you know how to use the google, you can find more, um... stuff.
- streetstealth, on 10/12/2007, -2/+7I know you're just trying to make an honest living here, but to make a better impression at Digg, may I suggest:

Folks tend not to like ads outside the top and sidebar. :) - lingyai, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5The people who run Registerfly should be in prison for fraud. Put Registerfly and Fraud in your search engine of choice see what you come up with. If you are with RegisterFly now CHECK YOUR CREDIT CARD STATEMENTS! There is a very good chance they not only double charged you but also just made random charges. The ***** took about $417 from me. Sadly i didnt know till about 6 months later (after you can reverse the charges on your card). I contacted them again and again. They said they would fix it if I mailed my records to them. I arranged everthing for them, highlighted the charges that were BS. What happened? Oh they say the did get it. Now they just simply say oh its been to long, we dont do refunds. Run from Registerfly.
Does anyone know the people who run the company, like their names? Please post them if you do. - realdcurtis, on 06/03/2009, -0/+4Not true. If you try to register a domain, they take your money and say "processing" indefinitely. All email communication is ignored.
I also had a domain with them expire last week. They wont let me renew it to transfer, and I can't transfer it because they are still the registrar of record. They also stole several charges of 12.99 before they stopped allowing credit cards. Then I tried using PayPal, and they took that money too. Nothing has changed on their website. The place where the AuthCodes for transfer used to be (burried in the contact information) is now blank.
What the *****? How can a company this large manage to destroy themselves from the inside out? Surely there are a few competent people working there who can take over? - sonaro, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5I can't imagine the anxiety and frustration registerfly customers must be experiencing.
- form3hide, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3The past year or so I've been slowly transferring my domains to Dotster and GoDaddy. I have 5 left to transfer from RegisterFly. Hopefully I don't get fizzucked.
Well, I kinda already did. One of my domains auto-renewed while I was away on vacation. Now it appears on both my domains list as well as my expired domains list. Bah. - stringerbell, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3I used Registerfly once...
I purchased a country-code domain name from them last year (I only used Registerfly, despite the reviews, because they were one of the only registrars that had that specific country code). Well, I say I purchased a domain name from Registerfly, but that is really a misnomer.... Sure, I PAID them for the domain name (well, actually, I paid them twice - Registerfly double charged my credit card), but I didn't actually GET the domain name.
In-between the time I whois'd the domain to make sure it was available and the time I registered it, someone else had stolen the Registerfly whois query and registered the domain right before I did (domain kiting, or domain hijacking, or whatever you call it, I forget).
But, that fact that someone else had registered my domain name first didn't prevent Registerfly from DOUBLE-CHARGING MY CREDIT CARD anyways (and, of course, they never reversed the charges until I noticed it a month or so later and complained - and that took days).
Good riddance Registerfly - and don't let the door hit you on the ass on the way out!... - lingyai, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3We need to get the names of the people who own and run Registerfly. These people need to be put in prison.
There are thousands of people who have fraudulant charges from Registerfly.
Clearly fraud is part of Registerfly's plan to make money, its not like the charges are accidents, they are doing it on purpose. - Shriker, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3I can't even get my one domain name to transfer away from them. I've got ProtectFly enabled on it, and it won't let me disable it (the domain is unlocked). It just spits out this error, even though all the required fields are filled out.
Registrant: Contact is not valid for requested types to modify: Missing required field: owner first_nameMissing required field: owner last_nameMissing required field: owner address1Missing required field: owner cityMissing required field: owner phoneMissing required field: owner emailMissing required field: owner countryMissing required field: owner org_nameInvalid syntax for owner E-Mail Address.Invalid data for owner country code.
Maybe they're just anti-Canadian or something now. - redlemon, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4i don't get it. digg this down, just thought he should know.
- fireball74, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3I use http://www.enom.com for my registrations. Not as cheap as GoDaddy, but their services are good with lots of extras.
(edited to correct the url) - scotty588, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4As I said previously I transfed my 1 domain from Registryfly to Namecheap.com who is an eNom reseller. I had no problems transfering and Namecheap is only $8.88 per transfer and free whois protection for a year. Make sure you google Namecheap promo or coupon codes you can sometimes get a $1 off or so. I think this months promo code is "marchmadness"
- hockeystatman, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5GoDaddy is evil!!
Every run in I ever had with them convinced me to use anyone else, which is why until the s__t hit the fan at RegisterFly I used them.
Personally I'd use anyone and everyone else before I'd use GoDaddy. - DonCarcharo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3The good news is if you're a complete and utter fool you can still (attempt to) register domains with them. As of right now there's no mention of the issue on their website and ordering is functioning as normal.
- Jon20usa, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4http://www.namecheap.com are really good. They are have a pretty good interface and very friendly support.
- Ryosen, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3FWIW, I've used GoDaddy for the domain registration of almost 50 domains for years. I have never once had a problem. Now, I host my own domains, so I haven't used their hosting services. However, when I have seen other people's complaints about GoDaddy's hosting, it seems that they were usually due to DMCA violations. That's not to say that there may not have been some legitimate problems, just that it doesn't seem to be as epidemic as some folks say.
As for the domain sniping issue, this has been addressed many times before. When you do a whois query, the request is processed by many servers, not just GoDaddy's. Without a question, there have been some disreputable people who will monitor for domain name requests and register them as soon as they see one. Since GoDaddy's pricing tends to be very competitive, it's not unreasonable that the sniper would use them for the registration. I have done hundreds if not thousands of domain name searches and I have never had one sniped from me. It is not uncommon for me to sit and consider an available domain name for an hour or two, if not days. I think that some people are either too quick to make accusations, too quick to jump on the "me, too" bandwagon, or too quick to believe everything that they hear.
I've used GoDaddy for 7 years. No problems and highly recommended. - alrahman, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3People who are unable to move their domains should contact eNom. If you're lucky, eNom might be the actual registrar of your domain (regfly had reseller status with them) and be able to move 'em out for you.

RegisterFly is one of the most bitched about sites I've ever seen. - Drakk0n, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3I transfered to goddady from registerfly about a year ago after registerfly LOCKED one of my domains not allowing me to use it even though I had paid and they had charged me for it. After 6 months and numerous emails, phone calls, and THREATS from their people stating that if i did a charge back I would be fined $1000. I said screw it, I did the chargeback, I got my money back, bitched at their people on the phone daily till I got the domain unlocked for transfer, and transfered it away as soon as it was.
- h00ligan, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3i agree, about time, right on.
- SnapETom, on 10/12/2007, -4/+7Why the hell would you transfer from Registerfly to godaddy? That's going from the frying pan into the fire. Have you guys not been paying to the godaddy stories that hit the front page?
- DrDabbles, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3I lodged a formal complaint against Registerfly with ICANN about 1 month ago. I had documented calls, hold times, support "tickets", and every other interaction with Registerfly. I was helping a friend move her domain to Godaddy and RF was giving her the runaround for a month. Horrible company, and I can't wait to see their customers jump ship.
P.S. RegFly customers- Use the code DIGG or DLTV for 10% off of Godaddy services. :-) - honeycut, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2More help here for registerfly refugees:

I totally agree on the DNSexit comment, I don't know why you are getting dugg down.
It's really a fine service and the guys that run it are smart and very supportive. It just works, no hassles. - lingyai, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2@stelex:

Are there any pictures of these guys out there?
These guys need to pay (literally) for stealing money and general screwing people over. - kevincw01, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2@lingyai
That exact thing happened to me too. I had a domain with them at one time and cancelled it(turned off auto-renew). Then one day I notice this $10 charge on my bill. They were charging me every month for 9 months. I tried logging in and my account was closed...hah! I called and they said I didnt have an account so they couldnt be charging me. The cc statement said "registerfly.com"!! So I disputed the charge, got my money back and changed my debit card number. - tonton2012, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Bob Parsons of Go-Daddy has been staining his silk sheets over this wet dream for the last few weeks.
- mbthompson, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I am so glad I never went with RegisterFly, I mean GoDaddy isn't much better but still, these guys were crooks through and through. I only have one domain anyway. Is RegisterFly in any way associated with CacheFly?
- kibmcz, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3I have domains through http://www.enom.com/ and http://www.netfirms.com/ they both are good.
