- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+15Great. I created even MORE dead pixels on my Dell laptop! Oh well. At least now I've gone past the minimum number for replacement. HURRAY!
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+14I found that playing Classical music and talking positive about the pixel, works well too. Some pixels dont want to be touched, and something about massaging your pixel just doesnt sound right
- docbaily, on 10/12/2007, -1/+11worked on my ferrari. +digg
- matx, on 10/12/2007, -0/+10I painted the dead pixel the correct colour needed to display the image.
- Chapter80, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8So when the million pixel website goes down, I just need to press a wet cloth against my monitor??
- 52tease, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5Just used this fix on my Nintendo DS and it worked like a charm (surprisingly)!
- Elranzer, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Apperently works on "stuck" pixels, not "dead" ones. Dead ones appear black, stuck ones seem to be one color (red, green or blue) no matter what else is on the screen.
Luckily for the DS owners with faulty pixels, the problem seems to solely be stuck pixels, not dead ones. - Paradox183, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4I'd been living with one red pixel right in the middle of my display for almost a year. Now it's gone. Wish I'd heard about this sooner.
+digg - lumotek, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4I ran the psp fix video and had a seizure!
- bogaut, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3worked on my ipod. +digg
- zoziw, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Just a note to those with a stuck pixel on a DS, Nintendo will replace it, even if there is only one stuck pixel.
http://www.nintendo.com/consumer/systems/ds/trouble_spot.jsp
I bought my DS at Best Buy only to discover it had a dead pixel. I took it back saying I wanted it replaced and they said they would have to check Nintendo's policy on pixels. I pointed them to that website and they replaced it on the spot. - imightbewrong, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3holy !#@! that worked and was so easy!!! i just used a pencil eraser and bam it was gone!!! great digg!!!
- aemaeth7, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3"Whether this works or not is another question! but why does a damp cloth fix the problem ?
In detail.... Since when did the LCD use oil in it's manufacture, and how does a damp cloth on the outside of the LCD effect workings on the inside...
hmmm..."
Damp cloth for not damaging/scratching the screen, dumbarse. And oil inside is how the light transfers :P Nice try to bash this ^^ - Uberhampster, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I just pressed firmly on my screen w/ a pencil eraser, and it made the stuck pixel much less noticeable. Dugg
- NitrousFlare, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2worked, i fixed a bright f'ing gren pixel, now it works perfect
perfect i say - neffrix, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2woot, i had five of them annoying the hell out of me for the past couple weeks
- clumsyninja, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2"You can also gently massage the pixel back to life. Just don't press so hard that you crack the screen. Works most of the time, but some times pixels are too far gone to be resurrected." -chadseld
This worked for one of my dead pixels and the article's suggestion worked for the other. +digg +3 excellent - clownguyx, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Nice to see useful information posted once in awhile.
+Digg - sinisterD, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2i dont think it will fix my dead pixels

http://deadpixel.deviantart.com/ - MattZed, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2rub the pixel three times, press mouth to screen and exhale.. repeat until pixel is resuscitated..

- matt.rubin, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2haha i just tried the psp pixel fixer on my alienware i just ran it with quicktime and it fixed the dead pixel lol
- george616, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2WOWWWWW

thisis fantastic
+digg - brbeaird, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2 volatileacid,
Most people (me included) here simply said they checked the article's steps out of curiosity, and the method worked. Whether or not the article's explanation is technically valid isn't necessarily as important as the fact that it worked, and most people are not pretending that they have enough knowledge to say one way or the other. Just because not everyone knows the exact process of how every single piece of a computer hardware works doesn't make them all newbs... - jimtrottier, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Wow. I am thoroughly amazed. I've had a stuck pixel on my iPaq 5455 PocketPC for over a year and it drove me nuts. I just tried this simple little fix and it worked! No more stuck pixel! 1 digg from me! Thanks for posting this!!
- mrKhoa, on 10/13/2007, -1/+3lol my comment aboce was for the Optimus 3-key keyboard, but Digg put it in the wrong section!
- Paradox183, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3...and just as I post that last message, it comes back.
- miktrebla, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I had one green pixel in the middle of my screen, and after trying this, it's no more! At first, I think I spread the pressure too much, so it created these pixel lines around it, but those faded away eventually. But in the end, my LCD monitor is clean. Thanks.
+digg - BlackCow, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Keep working at it and try the other methods?
- ersnyder, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2"I'm amazed that we put up with dead pixels at all. I love Apple, but I think the fact that my PowerBook (and my PowerBook before it) has a dead pixel -- and that Apple won't do anything about it, and that we just sit here and take it -- is unforgivable."
It's not just Apple, it's anyone who manufactures LCD monitors. If they allowed Quality Control to throw out every display that had one dead pixel, the price for LCD monitors would be through the roof. You would never have one to even complain about. Putting up with a dead pixel or two or three is saving everyone money. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2"Apply pressure to the area where the dead pixel is. Do not put pressure anywhere else, as this may make more dead pixels."
lol my finger is bigger than a pixel
i would try the flashing video from sony first - zhyk88, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Hey trust this method. It really works! I also used the method where you turn off the LCD monitor, massage the affected part and then turn it back on. Thanks to the person who came up with this!
- brbeaird, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Actually worked on mine. Unbelievable. I had a tiny blue pixel on the upper left part of the LCD since I first got it two years ago. I turned the computer off (don't know what difference that was supposed to make but did it anyway), then just put some pressure on it with my thumb behind a damp cloth. After awhile with applying pressure from different angles, it finally disappeared, then reappeared when I turned the computer on, then blinked off and on for a bit, then finally left for good. Dig+++!! Can't believe I've never heard of this.
- crazyman, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Oh my god. Thank you so much.
- alceria, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Wasn't this on the front page before? I've got major deja vu.
- NervousDuck, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Keep in mind that this will only work some of the time, on come monitors. This is not a cure-all for all dead or lit pixels in an LCD panel. Most of the time, it's a shorted out transistor, and there are millions of those in each display. The trick is that manufactures can't easily tell if a display has a bad transistor during the manufacturing process until the display is assembled. Rather then throwing out a display with a shorted transistor, they sell it, hoping that no one will mind, or notice.
- eddieo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I see dead pixels!
- kangaechigai, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I've had a stuck red pixel on my Treo 650 since I got it 4 months ago. I played this video through once, and the pixel was fine. It worked for me, so I won't complain about the misleading title or the flawed explanation of why it works.
- NervousDuck, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1That's "some" monitors. Gees.
- seventoes, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1"worked on my ipod. +digg"
"worked on my ferrari. +digg"
worked on my dog. +digg - Mushroonaut, on 07/11/2008, -0/+1Funny how title says "Fix dead pixels" then it says this is not for dead pixels but for stuck pixels!
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Aside from Digg already having a NUMBER of these articles about fixing dead pixels, I bought a Hitachi and have yet to see one pixel even *blush* the wrong color.
- peorth, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I'm scared to try this on my DS :/
- Sage-Tech, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1"I tried this trick with a cat that was blind. It worked! By pressing the cat's eyeball I was able to make it see again! ++DIGG!"

You fcuking numbnut, you've totally ignored my question and put forward an answer to something completely. I think it's time for some more English lessons. - billventiger, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Does this work when my headlight fluid runs out too? The new headlight for my BMW is really expensive.....
- DesolataX, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Worked on PSP, Laptop, and Monitor. +++++Digg
- teddysetgo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Worked on my new MacBook Pro. Digg!
