- MtheoryX, on 10/23/2008, -5/+80Be a polite user and seed...puff, puff, pass.
- godphase3, on 10/23/2008, -0/+38Zombie torrents? Looks like it's time to get my shotgun..
- wayback09, on 10/23/2008, -4/+33I read the title as "How to bring dead terrorists back to life". 8 years of the Bush administration brainwashing finally got me.
- SteveMax, on 10/23/2008, -4/+28***** you, this meme should have died with your friends.
- davidrools, on 10/23/2008, -0/+24I think yelling and swearing in the comments for people to seed works pretty well,
- dext3r, on 10/23/2008, -0/+17***** me.
Oops, I did it wrong. - jsindal, on 10/23/2008, -1/+14Strange, I tried this and all I got was the following error message: "BRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAINNNNNNS!!!!!"
- fabriciom, on 10/23/2008, -0/+12You obviously havent been to University yet. Wait till you have to buy used books for 70€
- brainal, on 10/23/2008, -2/+11Or seed...
- RyomaNagare, on 10/23/2008, -1/+10Help, I'm stuck at 99.7% on the Spanish subtitled release, of the '94 gatchaman OVAS.
/sarcasm.
No, but seriously, I am. :-( - altgeeky1, on 10/23/2008, -1/+10You must be from Alaska. Just sayin.
- hahahafr, on 10/23/2008, -1/+10that's why you should NEVER use .rar or compressed file when you make a torrent with multiple file uncompressable. if you are stuck at 99.8% maybe you will just miss 6 seconds of the last ***** file, and not the WHOLE torrent.
- iofthestorm, on 10/23/2008, -0/+8The problem with the way bittorrent works is that that 0.3% is most likely somewhere in the middle, so you probably can't just watch it. If anything it will blow up somewhere in the middle.
- PhailQuail, on 10/24/2008, -0/+7If it's somewhere in the middle of a video file, you should be fine, you will just get a little corruption at one point, just skip over it.
- Matt88, on 10/24/2008, -0/+7He's in America £4.99 = $US499 give or take a few quarters
- serif69, on 10/23/2008, -0/+6This site really does nothing to bring back dead torrents, just to find signs of life on torrents that appear to be dead on one tracker. There are limits on how long it makes sense to continue to seed. I don't blame people for not seeding torrents that were posted 12 months ago but I have just happened to come across. I tend to seed to an average of a 10:1 ratio, or until I notice that I'm bumping up against my raw upload bandwidth (which is currently 10MB/s, thanks FiOS), at which point I remove the oldest torrents from seeding.
The best solution, IMO, is to implement a feature on trackers that keeps a private record of which peers have completed a download but have stopped seeding, just as they keep a record of peers that have completed the download but are continuing to seed. Then other peers can query the tracker for additional seeds, and the tracker can notify those peers on the list and request that they re-seed. - inactive, on 10/23/2008, -6/+12I mostly download books and ebooks, so there are plenty of those on Chinese servers these days. Especially IT stuff.
http://www.freebooksearch.net
Sometimes I have to resort to a torrent still. - xyqxyq, on 10/24/2008, -0/+5You're not supposed to print it. You're supposed to use a laptop to view it during class. Or go the economy route and use a custom firmware PSP with "Bookr" installed, like I do.
- xyqxyq, on 10/24/2008, -1/+6Arguing on the internet is like the special olympics. Even if you win, you're still retarded. *insert picture of retarded child crossing finish line*
- ngmcs8203, on 10/23/2008, -2/+7That domain name is misleading. It is NOT a "free book" search site. It is a free search tool for books powered by Google.
- toxicityj, on 10/24/2008, -1/+5I'm not likely to die first. You see, while you're out and about buying stuff at a store, you're exposing yourself to hundreds of means of death that I'll never have to face, because I'm at home downloading that movie safely. So you first, pussy.
- anononon, on 10/23/2008, -1/+5You best be trolling, bwoy!
- Kyora, on 10/24/2008, -0/+4It's not even funny how many rar's I've had stuck at 99.8%... :(
I think people coordinate it that way, somehow. Just to piss everyone off. Unless RIAA's doing it for the lulz. - 7aji, on 10/24/2008, -0/+3more like: "please seed :(" , " could some one seed please ! :(" , " I'm stuck on 30%, someone seed! :( "
- iofthestorm, on 10/23/2008, -0/+3Problem is that's how "the scene" releases things or something, and people can't be bothered to unrar their ***** before uploading a torrent. Meh.
- DeathfireD, on 10/24/2008, -0/+3You could just search google for the info hash and then start adding all the trackers that are not in your torrent's tracker list that point to the same infohash. You could also load the torrent into Shareaza and set it to download from G1, G2, Edonk, and torrent using the info hash. The probability of finding the file over p2p networks is higher.
- toxicityj, on 10/23/2008, -5/+8i hope you die.
- serif69, on 10/23/2008, -0/+2I actually have the client capped at 200kB/s during times when I'm normally active on my computer (after work, natch) and uncapped overnight, during the work day, and if the computer is idle for an hour. If I happen to need some upstream bandwidth while I'm at my computer during the uncapped times (which is rare), then I'll manually prune the torrents. And since I have it set up to archive the files on separate external drives for music and movies, only actively downloading torrents and uncategorized files use up my primary HDD.
So, yeah. Pretty much have it sorted out. - smacksaw, on 10/24/2008, -0/+2***** you, two of my friends died trying to explain to you that what makes it funny is when people like you whine about them and that's the whole reason for posting this.
- inactive, on 10/24/2008, -0/+2Exploding wheelchair? Moving is boring...
- centran, on 10/23/2008, -2/+4There are illegal torrent??? No, that can't be right!
< psst! > frogel, shut your damn mouth about the illegal torrents. you are going to ruin it for the rest of us. - smacksaw, on 10/24/2008, -0/+2It's true. Alaska really is the new Kentucky + West Virginia + Florida + South Carolina combined.
- Suricou, on 10/24/2008, -0/+2An old tradition with some practical value - mostly for Usenet distribution.
Yes, it lives still. Mostly for the binaries. - monkeystick, on 10/23/2008, -0/+2Too bad there aren't parity files for torrents.
- AbsoluteMSTR, on 10/23/2008, -3/+5dang, I misread the title, "How to Bring Dead Back to Life".
Was thinking WTF - Poydflink, on 10/23/2008, -0/+2Isn't helping me getting that Chase Ace Deluxe game I've been searching for months! : It's a nice little game with 40 megas that I played when I was younger with my best friend for hours. I wanted to revive the old times. Oh well...
- Ragecloak, on 10/24/2008, -0/+1which is what btReAnnouncer attempts to do automagically
- RyomaNagare, on 10/24/2008, -0/+1heh, sadly there are no seeds all over the internet, the torrent is currently hosted in 3 trackers, all of which are seedless.
I still managed to watch them thanks to VLC.
I guess i could try downloading from emule though - H0ns, on 10/24/2008, -0/+1Yeah, Zombie pr0n!
- inactive, on 10/24/2008, -1/+2Series one is £4.99
Series two is £6.99 on DVD - NotShorty, on 10/24/2008, -0/+1yeah, except that you could probably find ONE missing rar on another tracker much easier than finishing that 700MB download that got stuck at 99.9% dude...
- Suricou, on 10/24/2008, -0/+1I usually download the missing files from emule (both ed2k and kad), and if those fail I have a private waste network, gnutella, and the DC++ hubs.
Then, once I have fixed the download, I import it into my BT client and reseed it for everyone else. - smacksaw, on 10/24/2008, -0/+1Why, is that the only part where they show boobs?
- WRXFiles, on 10/24/2008, -1/+2Why do you deem your inability to read a title accurately newsworthy enough to be added as a comment on Digg?
- davidlow, on 10/24/2008, -0/+1How do I get started with that?
- zmigliozzi, on 10/24/2008, -0/+1You actually need an article when, seed your torrents works just fine?
- omnithought, on 10/24/2008, -2/+3Torrents are a pain in the ass. I finally bit the bullet and switched over to usenet and it's way faster. Many torrents used to take days. Those same kinds of downloads now take 20 minutes. Plus, if you search and you see it, it's available. You don't have to worry if people are seeding or not.
- xyqxyq, on 10/24/2008, -0/+1Man, this moving is boring. I should never have downl-KABOOM!
- SamOut, on 10/24/2008, -0/+1"please seed, i have cancer :("
- hahahafr, on 10/24/2008, -0/+199,9% of and 700MB file is actually 0,7MB. For 1h30 you just missed 9 seconds. I say missed but maybe it's not and you will just get ugly macroblock or 3 green frames.
Yeah, I hate .rar achive with uncompressable files in it. -
