- Jozer99, on 10/12/2007, -2/+19During the Vietnam war, the US absolutely destroyed the roads/infrastructure of northern Vietnam. Yet, the Vietnamese were still able to bring heavy artillery and supplies over huge mountains and into remote valeys. It puzzled the US, until they realized that the Vietnamese had bicycles which they loaded the disassembled guns onto, several hundred pounds on each, and then women and children pushed these bikes hundreds of miles to where the equiptment was needed.
- smithfly114, on 10/12/2007, -5/+11If people did not like it, it would not make the front page. Get over it.
- iworkforus, on 10/12/2007, -7/+13LOL i can't believe this made it to front page... FTW!@
- the-rip, on 10/12/2007, -5/+8ok, that pic of the horse getting lifted in the air from all the cargo it had to carry is the funniest thing ive seen all day
- digitalgopher, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3@babylonian - understood, but how do you explain digg v3.0? the intention of the founders from day 1 was to eventually move beyond tech into general news, politics, etc...
- zforrester, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2how is it spam? its not invading my personal space, trying to get me to buy something. It's not a forwarded email telling me to send it to ten of my friends otherwise I wont get laid again. Its just a bunch of stupid pictures. Its just there. Its not hurting anyone. Simmer down.
- zforrester, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3I"m confused as to why so many people are offended by this submission. Its not spam. Its not directly offensive. Sure, its not exactly tech-related, but anyone who knows digg's long term plans knows that they will eventually be branching out into other categories. And really, Digg is all about the people. If enough people like the story, it gets promoted to the front page, if enough people DON'T like the story, it gets demoted. So, really, who are you to say what should get dugg and what shouldn't? I dugg it because, for a few, breif moments, I was mildly entertained by fairly humourous photos, which actually produced more of a reaction from me then the latest news on MS Vista, or the latest Linux distro. Nobody forced you to look at the pictures. You weren't tricked into digging it, or anything, right? Honestly, if you don't like it, don't digg it. Thats all you need to do.
- smithfly114, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4Very true, however that means that just as many "idiots" are digging the stories that you do like. Just let the system work...
- n00b3, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1look at those dumb ppl carrying all the load so they can have something for dinner. ha ha ha (sarcasm)
I don't find humor in others misery. but they are poor and dumb. they are poor because they are dumb or they are dumb because they are poor? - KidVicious, on 10/12/2007, -4/+5Negyxo, you've officially been p0w//3d.
- babylonian, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3As far as I'm concerned, if what you're looking for is a change from tech news, go to a website other than digg. Digg is described in the FAQ as "a technology news website".
- echosierratwo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1aw man. I thought this was going to be about Guns, Germs and Steel.
- Negyxo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1meh, i stand by my past shameless self promotion.
- Artifez, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Arround here guys pile flatbeds up with pallets like one of those donkeys, it's eff'in scary to drive near them.
- DEFSMAC, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3haha hilarious! at least he didn't try to hide the fact that it was a totally whack job article, like some others do. ++digg
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Actually, I've seen something similar to the train pic in real life when I last travelled to India. It isn't too frequent though (at least to my knowledge).
- digitalgopher, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3people really need to get over it. it was just supposed to be a little humor, even if it wasn't tech related. A nice change if you ask me from the 1,227 linux, apple, or google stories that make the front page every single day!
- iknezek, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I've actually seen a truck with tires piled up in the back, just like that picture, driving on the highway.
I made sure to stay well away from it, lest it fall over. - mrASSMAN, on 10/12/2007, -3/+4..this has been a running joke for years. seriously, ive seen most of these photos back in 2000, and i'm only 17. pathetic.
oh yeah, and why the hell is this on digg anyway. you guys give digg a bad name. - Armitage2k, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Hey, how about we digg every page from this site.. it's the third one today so far!!
- zforrester, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1simmer down, there koshak, they are just some stupid pictures, and yes, the digg boys, kevin and alex have said they are interested in branching out to other genres.
- babylonian, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1I'm confused as to why you took it so seriously that you felt it deemed writing a miniature essay on why people should be digging it.
- kenz0r, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2"Jay Leno garbage"
what the hell is that supposed to mean? - rawsteak, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2awesome! a link that only fits under the category "all" or "links"
Maybe we can find another time-wasting site for you, kiddy. It's obvious digg is too cool for you. maybe you could try shoutwire.com? - zforrester, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1since it seems to be a growing problem on digg, and I felt it needed to be addresed. Also, my post is much shorter then the total number of posts badmouthing the article. See koshak's post above to see what I mean.
- MadModdr, on 10/12/2007, -7/+7LOL,
Digg is about passing the time (for me at least). If you've got something better to post, then do so. - babylonian, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Ezpresso watermarks every picture they post. How, then, are they better than Ebaum's or similarly derivative sites?
- spacebar14, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Lol. Those guns on the first one. Unreal.
- h4lofourt33n, on 10/12/2007, -5/+5I absolutely LOVE the donkey picture. But, these guys should be the engineers of tomorrow! Pure genius, but the donkey is grade A comedy!
- csprech, on 10/12/2007, -4/+4ahhah this is a prime choice find. thanks for the laugh!
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0digg will NEVER branch out to include stupid ***** that only 8 year olds still find humous. The "people must like it enough to digg it" doesn't mean a ***** thing. Digg doesn't WANT ***** like you to be part of the page if you find this interesting.
And it i samazing how people think they know what digg's future plans are. Clearly you DON't if you think it plans on including FARK *****.
Keep this ***** on FARK. It is sad that you need to join all these kinds of sites to have interaction in your life. - KidVicious, on 10/12/2007, -3/+2ahaha ***** deal with it you moron.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0So..let's put PORN on the site. Yeah, like this crap, the creators of the site explicitly said they don' want it. But if peopel digg it, let the system work...right?
Just ebcause ther are enough 10 year old maturity level digg users like you to get it to the front page doesn't mean it belogns there. Just means you need to act your age. - diafel, on 10/12/2007, -8/+7People are idiots. Digg users are no exception sometimes.
- FullMetalMonkey, on 10/12/2007, -7/+6I like the one with the truck overloaded with Computers!
- regedit2D, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1the reply function was added so you don't have to use @
- Ignorant, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0We're not at Digg v3.0 yet, when that day comes and if the format changes to allow all these submissions (hopefully not), submit them then.
- KidVicious, on 10/12/2007, -3/+2Well, at least we won't be seeing you here ever again. That's a plus in my book.
- Ignorant, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1Hit the reply link in the bottom right of the comment.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0You can only reply to the first comment. So if you are trying to comment on a comment to a comment, you have to find the original comment.
I am going to try to say comment as much as possible frmo now on. - relinquish, on 10/12/2007, -10/+7Not diggworthy. Get this off my home page.
- kenz0r, on 10/12/2007, -4/+1take your prejudice elsewhere
- detrate, on 10/12/2007, -6/+2seriously... this guy is just spamming his lame website :(
- diafel, on 10/12/2007, -13/+9Sweet, I was hoping that digg would turn into the next ebaumsworld
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -4/+0YEah...um...when you admit in the description that you KNOW it is not what digg is intended for, then you probably shouldn't submit it.
The funny thing is, Digg users want to believe that we are all such advanced internet users. Yet we get these submissions all the time, and they are EXACTLY what people SPAM their friend's inboxes with when they first discover e-mail and the internet. Causing more experiences users to have to block their friend's e-mail addresses.
And you can't JUST blame digitalgopher. You also have to blame the 261 kiddies who dugg it. And you wonder why phishing scams can still be so successful.
To those who dugg this story...just a warning....if you get a letter from someone claiming to be African or South American royalty and they want your bank account information so they can wire millions of dollars to you, DON'T give it to them. And Bill Gates will not send you money for forwarding e-mails. - MadModdr, on 10/12/2007, -6/+2This is somewhat inappropriate but can someone tell me how to comment on other people's comments? Kinda pissin me off tryin to find it.
- GrimmRaver, on 10/12/2007, -8/+4LMAO!
- burke, on 10/12/2007, -6/+1Why the hell did I read that as "How much Lego can you carry?"?!
- ghelton, on 10/12/2007, -10/+5who cares if its funny, its not tech.
