- sholt, on 12/19/2007, -5/+33Wtf are nerdfighters, and why should I care?
- wastedlife, on 12/19/2007, -3/+13I don't get it and I don't think I want to.
- Amadeus2490, on 12/19/2007, -2/+11I totally thought that said "How 2 nerfherders [...]."
- lexbaby, on 12/19/2007, -3/+11Nintendo Power magazine called. They want their logo back.
- scabbers, on 12/19/2007, -4/+12Lame.
- xTRUMANx, on 12/19/2007, -2/+9For a bunch of people attempting to reduce 'world suck', they picked a helluva thumbnail.
- shmatt, on 12/19/2007, -5/+11Sorry for the troll, but do you guys really think those videos make a bunch of people turn around and make a donation? I don't... so how did these charities benefit exactly? Just from the exposure? I'd rather see these folks write a check.
As of this moment the 1st vid on most discussed features a total douche. I couldn't get thru 30 seconds of his personality. Charities and non-profits are highly cautious when choosing their spokespeople, I think this might be why. - heartless_, on 12/19/2007, -1/+7Wow, 2 out of millions repaired a broken relationship. So, it's all good then?
Social websites are a virus to my Internet.

love it. - Xaverie, on 12/19/2007, -4/+6I'm... rather shocked at the amount of negative response this is getting. Whatever your objection to social networking sites, or YouTube, or Nerds, or the logo, this project was a good thing! I don't see how raising awareness for charities could ever be a bad thing.
Was it a publicity stunt? Well, yes. That was kind of the point. What good is promoting a charity if no one ever sees it? As for saying that Hank and John or some of the other Nerdfighters did it only for the e-fame, that's absolutely ridiculous. All of the videos and channels that were featured on the first page were ALREADY "famous", and using their popularity toward a great cause. And the majority of the reason was because of those of us who don't care about the fame or publicity commenting and rating so that these videos and the project got noticed.
Get a life? It was only a one-two day project. I'd rather take a few spare hours out of my busy day to support something great like this than sitting around trashing it like you guys.
And the project HAS done a lot of good. People are already starting to donate and give whatever they can to these different organizations who clearly need it. I've donated to several charities that I would never have known about if it wasn't for the Nerdfighter Project, as well as tried to help out other causes that don't require donations.
One person can make a difference, but the more people you have working toward such a positive goal, the better! - manata, on 12/19/2007, -2/+4Wow, this makes me miss Ze Frank.
- moofer, on 12/19/2007, -2/+3Missed his reply button by just a couple of inches.
- punkspirallegs, on 12/20/2007, -0/+1I participated in the secret project for awesome and it was a great experience! I had a blast being a small portion of the awesomeness that took effect that day. I've never seen so many positive comments where people were just supporting each other and being nice and genuinely concerned for decreasing the levels of world suck! As far as people go I couldn't be prouder to be a member of the nerdfighter community because of all the people i know nerdfighters seem to be the awesomest

- db118, on 12/19/2007, -6/+7That was SWEET. Nerdfighters united!!! kinda feel bad though cause i didnt make a video, had a damn research paper on the educational system in Chile due.
- naturalblue23, on 12/19/2007, -1/+2This was probably the dumbest idea ever to hit the Internet.
- danielle1987, on 12/19/2007, -10/+11yeah nerdfighters

- MikeonTV, on 12/19/2007, -1/+2Ok I believe you. Ser.
- lexbaby, on 12/19/2007, -1/+2I would digg it if it included the "scruffy looking" part.
- solid12345, on 12/19/2007, -2/+3Brotherhood 2.0? Lame. Buried.

Apparently "don't forget to be awesome." - moofer, on 12/19/2007, -1/+2I want to handcuff that douchebag's arms to the chair. I have a headache now.
- MWeather, on 12/19/2007, -1/+2"Please tell me what is lame about people coming together to promote good causes."
Ask the people complaining about Ron Paul's supporters. - darlingt, on 10/24/2008, -0/+1And for the record, it still is. :)
- Zeintz, on 01/08/2008, -0/+0That's because you lead a wasted life. Ha!
What's so hard to understand about promoting your favourite charity and getting a bunch of people to do the same and then name the whole thing "Project for Awesome"? It's seems really simple to me. - Zeintz, on 01/08/2008, -0/+0I'd like to add, that beyond being a project about money, it was for awareness... making YT a little less prosaic for a day is a nice perk.
- Zeintz, on 01/08/2008, -0/+0"It's not that I mind being insulted, it's that I mind being insulted so poorly" Having a vocabulary to insult something makes the insult a little more memorable, but "lame" describes itself.
- luvthecanadian, on 12/21/2007, -0/+0http://youtube.com/profile?user=vlogbrothers
yeah. look at the amount of subscribers. - squirrelyTONKS, on 12/21/2007, -0/+0and proud of it!
- luvthecanadian, on 12/21/2007, -0/+0And....why are you at your computer then?
- Zeintz, on 01/08/2008, -0/+0Because it's dumb to get great charities some attention? Is it because people united to do something different? Maybe because it's weird to try to make a positive difference? It could be because some people try to be thoughtful instead of vapid, contributors instead of leeches, or maybe they just wanted to make the world suck a little less.
Is it so different from getting presidential debates on youtube as a way to inform the (fairly misinformed) folk about what it going on beyond their computers? It isn't! It's about paying attention and participating in what is important to you. Just like Digg is a tool for expressing your likes and dislikes, this was a project of individual expression to expand people's views of ways in which they can help their community and the world. - Zeintz, on 01/08/2008, -0/+0It's alive and well.
- Pawnshopheart00, on 12/19/2007, -1/+1I can't believe how negative everyone is being... this is such a brilliant idea to have things that matter on youtube instead of just random stupid videos. I mean seriously, is your life so much worse for having a day or two with a ***** load of charities on youtube? Did it kill you to see the nerdfighter logo everywhere? no, it didn't. And it got a lot of charities out there. Did everyone who watched/commented go donate money? no. Did most of them? no, but I'm sure some of them did. I didn't know about many of the charities on there and I haven't stopped playing www.freerice.com since I found out about it and there were other free ones on there, where every so many clicks donates so much money. Heaven forbid people try to do something to make the world a little less sucky instead of just bitching about it.
- AjaxtheGoat, on 12/19/2007, -1/+1Missing Ze is the whole reason I started watching these guys.
- chaosium, on 12/19/2007, -1/+1So is this a Peace Corps for internet virgins or what?
- skinny78, on 12/19/2007, -0/+0This is a crazy idea. I'd like to see how many followers they've manage to attract.

- ladynerdfighter, on 12/20/2007, -0/+0Well, it's easier to come up with a negative one liner that sounds witty at the time, then to actually think a complete thought and back it with evidence. Anyone can be a critic, the brave thing is doing something worthy of criticism.
- AjaxtheGoat, on 12/19/2007, -1/+1Oh those people are just the cool non-conformist who don't want to be part of something greater than themselves, who think they are above what they perceive as mob mentality, hence making themselves feel superior to a great majority of people, but in reality their own self-centered attitude proves their own ignorance.
- ladynerdfighter, on 12/20/2007, -0/+0Agreed. After finding out about freerice.com on vlogbrothers, I told a few friends and a teacher about it. A week later, another teacher was telling all his classes about it, and some people I don't even know were talking about how cool it was.
