- SleighBoy, on 10/22/2008, -4/+29Remember Diggers, Huffington Post employs an ex-RIAA as head of it's political wing. Think of that when you're digging their site.
- stolemycar, on 10/23/2008, -0/+22***** The RIAA!!
- morgauo, on 10/22/2008, -0/+17I suspect some "real friends" in this one. Real friends w/ real dollars.
- schestowitz, on 10/22/2008, -3/+15Shouldn't the Mafiaa be in jail?
- FreeDeb, on 10/22/2008, -3/+15Oh George and his propensity for making decisions based on a big pile of nothing! Someone needs to take his imaginary friend aside and have a long, long talk.
- ringokamens, on 10/22/2008, -0/+11If you're interested in helping fight DRM and other anti-copyright excesses in the streets, check out binaryfreedom.info and sign up for defectivebydesign.com's newsletter!
- Tiak, on 10/23/2008, -0/+10I thank you for fullfilling your digg civic duty sir.
- reiggin, on 10/23/2008, -0/+10It was a Democrat-controlled congress that pushed this bill through. The blame is on all sides.
- enantiodromia, on 10/23/2008, -0/+10wait, isn't that the part that Disney keeps changing so they can hold on to their original IP that should have made their way into the public domain by now?
- badassninja, on 10/23/2008, -1/+10You do, of course know, that this means war.
- charm803, on 10/23/2008, -0/+9The thing with politics is that we should ALWAYS hold them accountable, but we only do it when it's convenient and the bill directly affects us.
Politicians don't push us to get more involved because they want to do ***** like this.
Whoever wins the White House, McCain or Obama, we need to hold them accountable and not let what happened here keep happening.
People, it's been happening for years. Get involved! - Krissam, on 10/23/2008, -0/+9I wonder if they paid royalties for that "music to their ears"
- smacksaw, on 10/23/2008, -0/+8Mine is Rick Larsen. He's only recieved $7600 from them. And he still voted yes. If I had two choices and both were relatively similar, the one who opposed the IP stuff would get my vote. Politicians need to realise this.
It's amazing because it's such a massive waste of scarce gov't resources to do this garbage. We need our courts to fix more important things like crime. - Tiak, on 10/23/2008, -0/+8That part of the constitution guarantees extra executive-branch bureaucracies that are tasked with enforcing the MPAA's every whim not only in this country, but in unspecified other countries as well?...
This bill is a crappy bill, which was passed based on a ***** claim that it would better the economy. Do you really think the American Library Association is just in it to steal your content?... The new law lets the government seize computers that are not owned or controlled in any part by the suspected infringer for example... - ileftfark, on 10/23/2008, -0/+6I don't think everything that required time and investment should automatically be free for everyone, but this PRO-IP bill is a little overreaching, and now justifies the taking of someone's house and belongings if they lose a PRO-IP case. While piracy may (or may not, depending on the source) cost the industry money, we're willing to make people homeless because of it? That's really ***** up, and on top of that, guess who foots the bill for the person who's lost everything? That's right. This should have been seriously scrutinized before being passed in its current state.
Also interesting- the Pres. candidates, and how much they received from PACs: http://www.opensecrets.org/industries/recips.php?i ... - gate100, on 10/23/2008, -0/+5HA! My House Rep. Luis Gutierrez, took $1000 from those ***** and still voted against it. He's got my vote again!
- stuntgp2000, on 10/22/2008, -0/+4Things are getting worse and worse in USA.
- harry8227, on 10/23/2008, -0/+5If you hold your politicians accountable, there wont be a democratic house or senate as they wrote the bill, voted it into law and passed it on to Bush. All he did was sign it but you every loving democrats are the ones who set it up. Why do you think Bush has not been impeached. Why do you think Pelosi said there wont be an investigation into things Bush did? Its because implicate half the democratic party. You still dont get it, the President cant do anything the Congress or the Senate dont approve of. All he does is sign the Bills THEY MAKE. If the president vetos a bill the can still OVERRIDE his veto. I say throw them all out and start over!
- MCDupree, on 10/23/2008, -2/+7Wow. Wrong, wrong, more wrong.
- bizkit00, on 10/23/2008, -0/+5Mine abstained. Thanks for sleeping in instead of doing something dumb?
- centran, on 10/23/2008, -1/+5It doesn't seem horrible. Seems like it is more aimed at the big groups of pirates not individuals.
However, this is completely unneeded and a huge waste of money! Even if we where not in a financial crisis this would be a waste.
For crying out loud RIAA and MPAA.... do your own dirty work. - Kingoftherings, on 10/25/2008, -0/+4My rep took $3,500 and voted for it, Ron Paul took $138,000 and voted against it. Freaking awesome. :D
- Tiak, on 10/23/2008, -0/+4Nobody (except for the weird submitter) is blaiming the president. This was a squarely bipartisan *****, Democrats and Republicans voted for and against it in equal proportions. So to spin it to say there wouldn't be a Democratic majority doesn't make much senser. Technically speaking, more Democrats opposed it than Republicans.
- MastaShake11, on 10/24/2008, -0/+3***** The MPAA!!
- Tiak, on 10/23/2008, -1/+4Because we didn't know where the quote came from and why it was funny to quote?...
In this case, he was taking a catch phrase and using it in a different context, passing it off as a quite in that case is generally bad form. If your example was the only thing here, it would essentially be equivalent to:
"I disagree" - Jesus - DigDugDigger, on 10/23/2008, -0/+3$1,000 isn't that much in terms of politics. My rep, Patrick Murphy, took over $58,000 this year in contributions from the entertainment industry.
And yes. he voted for it. - absurdist, on 10/23/2008, -3/+5"Of course you know, this means war." - B. Bunny
If you're going to quote, do it right. - InsaneMachine, on 10/23/2008, -0/+2Someone needs to beat the ***** out of many people.Because violence solves everything.
- Kingoftherings, on 10/25/2008, -0/+2Then why did the biggest Fundamentalist ever, Ron Paul, vote no?
- charm803, on 10/23/2008, -0/+2Wow. You totally missed my point.
It's not the government that's always the problem, it's we, the PEOPLE who let them get away with it.
If you think one is a lesser evil than another, you are just following hearsay.
I think it's ok for people of other countries to have opinions of our politics, but please, at least be informed before you make any comments about it. - HyperHacker, on 10/22/2008, -1/+3For those who were wondering, this is why Bush is president. Puppetry.
- MrEthiopian, on 10/27/2008, -0/+2I voted for him and I will again!
- intelliot, on 10/27/2008, -0/+2Ron Paul voted Nay.
Ron Paul would've been the best President for this country, but unfortunately you did not vote for him.
Vote third party, it's the only way to make a statement. - shady8x, on 10/28/2008, -0/+1Clinton passed the DMCA... so it isn't really a party issue...
- CarlsDigg, on 10/23/2008, -0/+1I blame anyone who voted in favor. Hundreds in Congress and ALL the Senators voted for it. I will be writing mine who voted in favor to let them know what I thought of their vote.
- bossm4n, on 10/23/2008, -7/+8Check out who's #1 on the list of monies received from the TV/Movie/Music industry, and by a huge margin. When in doubt, follow the money trail.

http://checkmyip.cn - MrEthiopian, on 10/27/2008, -0/+1Our government policing for private business is what Pro-IP is doing in creating a United States Intellectual Property Enforcement Representative to police the citizens of the USA. Secondly the PRO-IP bill could ruin families, The RIAA has already attempted to do this but Pro-IP would change a Child's mistake of downloading one album with the current top penalty of $30,000 up $360,000, in this economy that would cause most families into bankruptcy, is this what you want???
- Dimbleby, on 10/23/2008, -1/+2Go Blumenauer! Go Nay! Go Oregon!
- Tiak, on 10/23/2008, -0/+1Erm... You're blaming him for signing a bill which had unanimous senate support into law?... Vetoing wouldnt've done a whole lot of good even if George was standing up for your rights, which he hasn't come to be expected to do.
- bushout, on 10/23/2008, -2/+2OHHH CANADAAAA .....
:) - gandhii, on 10/23/2008, -1/+1He may have missed your point.. but he had a pretty good one of his own
- Gokz, on 10/23/2008, -0/+0Well, it wouldn't have reached Bush if Congress hadn't passed it right? Is it just me or are we blaming the wrong man for this? Yes bush didn't veto it, but who drafted, edited, and passed the bill in the first place?

http://www.thetravelerguides.com/ - AuriniDMJ, on 10/23/2008, -3/+3Is it because of the two-party system you guys have down there? Honestly, I can't stand listening to American politics anymore - you guys really have no choice. An argument not to vote, if I ever saw one...
At least up here in Soviet Canuckistan, we had a lesser of two evils to vote for. Down there you've got nothing but blue-socialist or red-socialist. - Johnsonbl, on 03/29/2009, -0/+0For jobs in the Caribbean visit one of these useful sites
