Also, and this is rather significant, Gore pushed to make it available to the public and not be kept as a military and intelligence secret. In other words, if it had not been for Gore there may not have been and internet, and even if there was one without his help, you would not have access to it, and would not be reading the comment.

American paranoia has given us many great things over the years, but lately, it just seems to take great things away. - FlyingCaveman, on 01/09/2009, -0/+3I'd like to see mesh networks everywhere instead of an ISP controlling their little piece of the internet.
It works like a damn airline hub and spoke network, say there's only one airline in your area, and you want to fly anywhere, you have to use them and you have to fly through their hub and of course there's no competition, so the service really sucks to begin with, and then you trip takes longer cause you cant get a direct flight.
How about if you were able to get a direct flight from anywhere to anywhere from any airline.
