...and all was lost. - bionikal, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1wait lets pay out firefox.
its the first borwser to rival IE properly, its open source and its relatively compliant to standards.
theres umm, a few reasons to pay it out =/ - mattyohe, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1And it was written on a NeXT computer!

opera adblock consists of making your own filters and/or turing off web features like animated gifs
it has a kinda of conquery but i could make my own in firefox
I'll give it noscript capability even though i dont htink it is quite as easy as firefox.
I do really like user javascript.. it is simular to greasemonkey.. unfortunately there isnt the same support.. and only a few downloadable scripts compared to grease monkeys
opera linkify is fine
I havent totally given up
opera is way faster
opera is more secure
opera and way more standard complient..
i think it is easy to go from ie to firefox.. or ie to opera but much harder to sitch from firefox to opera.. once you get used to firefox anyway - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0thanks i will check it out
conquery lets me right click on a word and query it to imdb.. google.. answers.com.. torrent searchers and what ever elese i program it to search..
so when browsing a torrent site(not downloading just browsing) i can right click a game and get the reviews. etc - spankgirl, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0ah, the good old days of Mosaic 1.0....

So Apple invented the Web Browser? :) - worbd, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Opera has adblock addons, and Greasemonkey is built into Opera and called User JavaScript. Noscript can probably be done with User JS, or with site specfic settings in Opera 9. No idea what conquery is, but it wouldn't surprise me if it was possible with Opera. Opera also has bugmenot buttons.
Just go to my.opera.com and ask in the forums there for Opera equivalents of whatever you need and it most likely exists already.
Or check http://userjs.org/.
Oh, and:

- xiaomonkey, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Wasn't it just demo'ed on Christmas day? Or did he actually hack the whole thing out, or at least a prototype, on Christmas?
- kardi412, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Great things come around on Christmas
1. Jesus Christ
2. Web Browsing
3 WHo knows - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0opera is faster
but i like firefox and it's extensions more
get me some opera bugmenot, adblock, noscript. greasemonkey, conquery and then maybe i'll switch - inkswamp, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Finally! Finally! A writer who doesn't credit Berners-Lee (incorrectly) with having invented the Web. Every article I've seen in the last few years talking about Berners-Lee cites him as the inventor of the WWW, but that's not entirely accurate. He did a great deal and deserves a mountain of credit, but he didn't invent the friggin' Web.
Definite digg for a rare moment of tech journalism accuracy! - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0you can still get it here
http://browsers.evolt.org/?worldwideweb/NeXT
but i really preferred the worlds #2 browser.. mosaic the great great grampy of firefox.
http://browsers.evolt.org/?mosaic-ncsa/windows
opening digg.com in mosaic.. just has a blank page with an ok in the corner. ATleast on google the logo shows up even if the search box doesnt
mosaic 1 was unix only i believe.. so if you wanna try the original first windows version.. go for 2.0a
THey later recompiled 1.0 for windows. - worbd, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0So people should hate Mozilla then?
Firefox isn't exactly superior compared to Opera or Safari. Both Opera and Safari are faster and far less memory hungry than Firefox. And more stable. - philmunt, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Fanboys will kill digg, people will use what they use because it suits them. Hate should only be directed at companies that derive success through anything less than a superior product
- worbd, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0- "Definite digg for a rare moment of tech journalism accuracy!"
I disagree strongly.
The journalist has no clue. He has an entire page dedicated to mobile browsing, and doesn't mention the main mobile browser, Opera, even once. This is stupid and a sign of a pathetically bad "journalist" who needs to go back to school and learn how to research a story.
He sort of mentions the lame and bloated Mozilla browser for mobiles, which is huge, slow, and keeps ripping off features from mobile Opera.
Just like Firefox does on the desktop... - etx313, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0"And it was written on a NeXT computer!

Real stupid. Cause Microsoft owns anything I develop on windows right? Apple doesn't invent much of anything, they just mash two things together and give it a short, stupid name. - Wawert, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Opera. 'Nuff said.
- dj_sea2005, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0so THATS what we celebrate Christmas for... ive been wondering that for quite some time...
