- inactive, on 07/26/2008, -7/+32Now to get that Dark Knight leak.
- djlaunchpad, on 07/26/2008, -0/+22It's about damn time!!
I'm not a comcast subscriber, but hopefully this will stop this type of BS from hitting the other ISPs. - Chronoped, on 07/26/2008, -0/+17That word just made my night. Thank you.
- loganrapp, on 07/26/2008, -1/+16Right, because that power should stay with Comcast and all the other telcos.
I'm sorry, but when a *Republican-controlled* FCC tells a telco, "whoa, that's far enough," that's when you know they seriously needed to get a smack down. - ripple123, on 07/26/2008, -0/+13Oh. Thats a good one. I gotta remember that one.
- Bobski, on 07/26/2008, -2/+15Can't touch this!
- chudgoo, on 07/26/2008, -0/+13It looks like someone's bribe check didn't clear...
- bnajbert, on 07/26/2008, -0/+12Holy ****, does this mean that I'm going to get what they promised when they sold me the service? I would really like to see a class action law suit on their ass about false advertising.
- megaton, on 07/26/2008, -2/+14They're 2 legit 2 quit.
- subcomandante, on 07/26/2008, -1/+11The FCC did something right for once? Wow, I'm impressed.
- Laiden, on 07/26/2008, -1/+10Duh nuh nuh nuh...
- zyklon, on 07/26/2008, -2/+11Good to see there's some people in the FCC playing for our team.
- Atomic1fire, on 07/26/2008, -0/+7it depends greatly on the amount of innovation
when a company can just make a good amount of money and not take any risks
do you think they will try to innovate?
Microsoft still has competitors albeit few but in the case of telecoms and cable companies its harder to find depending on location
competition brings innovation not a lack of regulation
If companies are trying to out do one another in service
where does that leave the customer...
in a better place then when it started - TomFrost, on 07/26/2008, -0/+7Dah! Dah!
- rovr138, on 07/26/2008, -0/+6Wow... there really is
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/974
Couldn't believe it... I had to see it. - iidestined, on 07/26/2008, -0/+6good job. this is a good first step.
- DraxusD, on 07/26/2008, -0/+6Good point. Anyone have a link to make it easy?
- igeoffi, on 07/26/2008, -0/+5"If those are important principles to you, why not drop a quick note to one or more of the commissioners?"
How many people are going to send a thank you note? I'm willing to bet not as many as those who complained. - alphadog, on 07/26/2008, -1/+6OK, now we are in the punishment phase of the process. A $100,000 fine to a corporation like Comcast is nothing.
Make then feel the pain. The government has show these corporations that it means business. Use both barrels. Deregulate the industry and allow free market in all areas of the country.
Give Americans the ability to choice between 5-6 different isp's at a price that everyone can afford ($50-60 is not it) and then see how Comcast changes it's ways - Phasmorphage, on 07/26/2008, -0/+5Nuh! Nuh!
- yaddayaddayoda, on 07/26/2008, -0/+5/Facepalm
- chrisduser, on 07/26/2008, -0/+5Who's next?
- spyd3rweb, on 07/26/2008, -5/+10The FCC is slowly slurping up more and more power.
- inactive, on 07/26/2008, -1/+6hey maybe the FCC isn't so bad after all.
- Cameljock, on 07/26/2008, -0/+5I have Comcast and my tubes are broken/clogged.
- SmokinWeed, on 07/26/2008, -0/+5Don't discourage him.. maybe he's got a talent.
- KMartSheriff, on 07/26/2008, -2/+6Well, for those of us who don't live on Digg 24/7, sometimes we appreciate repeats.
- Jenadae, on 07/26/2008, -0/+430k down / 3k up right now... ***** comcast...
- MuskokasFinest, on 07/26/2008, -1/+5...isn't that what they're supposed to do?
- Sabre24q7, on 07/26/2008, -0/+4Comcast deserves every fine and penalty they get. Net blocking bastards >=(
- dsmx, on 07/26/2008, -0/+4There's a firefox addon for that.
- yaddayaddayoda, on 07/26/2008, -0/+4http://www.fcc.gov/contacts.html
- WaveRunningNakd, on 07/26/2008, -0/+4Suck it, Comcast.
- josh0518, on 07/26/2008, -0/+4Now lets hope that the Canadian government does the same thing with Bell and Rogers over here!
- TheHayze, on 07/26/2008, -0/+3I had met Mr. Martin, personally, last week in Pittsburgh when he, and his fellow commisioners were there for a public forum discussing the issue. AT&T were there, too, but no Comcast. We met during the interval between panelists. He was picking bits and peices off cookies, and talking to a reporter that was there, and I was able to ask him a quick question before he joined his friends. I had asked him what he, personally, would do against Comcast if the commission voted to sanction Comcast. While some of what he said wasn't exactly what I wanted (I wanted criminal charges leveled against Comcast's illegal, and unfair packet resets), most of it was good.
He seemed like a good man, and definately worthy of the fight against the big-box cable, and carriors, like AT&T, Verizon, and Comcast. It seems that we have a good crusader fighting for us in making sure Net Nuetrality comes into place, and stays in place. - weaselfingers, on 07/26/2008, -0/+3These . . . are not the hammer.
- giantkicks, on 07/26/2008, -0/+3One step closer to the official FCC position against Comcast. - can't wait to see the final one.
- inactive, on 07/26/2008, -1/+4One for the Empire.
- jcronkhite, on 07/26/2008, -0/+3I have sent a thank you to the FCC. I think this could hold some weight. I cited a statistic that shows 90% of the United States are users of the Internet as of November 30, 2007. Please send them a thank you as well! Here is the link to the FCC contact page (emails right on top): http://www.fcc.gov/contacts.html
For the Internet statistics, go to http://www.internetworldstats.com/stats14.htm#nort ... - enronias, on 07/26/2008, -1/+4Now go after charter plox
- Atomic1fire, on 07/26/2008, -0/+2decency is not a crime
and had they not did anything you still would be complaining - MrTea, on 07/26/2008, -0/+2Works fine for me.
- inactive, on 07/26/2008, -0/+2Hey Dom Lets drop the Hammer!
- hivesster, on 07/26/2008, -0/+2But according to Comcock, the FCC has no power, so who is going to enforce this? It's sad to see a time when corporations can basically tell the government to ***** off and the government is powerless to do anything about it.
- Telekenesis, on 07/26/2008, -0/+2Woohoo, this makes me giddy, and Nate Anderson's words '...the decision to penalize Comcast will provide a Mario-style power-up to the FCC's 2005 Internet Policy Statement.' in the peice helped a bit too.
